Bart Bartolomei
The memorial service for Edo "Bart" Bartolomei will be at 1 p.m. today in the Masonic Temple, 975 N. Phoenix Road, Medford. Members of the Masonic Lodge will officiate.
Mr. Bartolomei, 83, of Medford, died Monday (April 13, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born June 29, 1914, in Korbel, Calif., and grew up in Santa Rosa, Calif.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
On Jan. 12, 1963, in Portland, he married Gretchen S. Erickson, who survives.
Mr. Bartolomei, a Greyhound Bus driver for 32 years, retired in 1973.
A Mason, he belonged to several Masonic bodies, having joined in Eugene. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Medford Social Benefit Club and a past member of the Medford Moose Lodge.
He enjoyed ballroom dancing and gardening.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Janet Blank, Gold Hill; two stepdaughters, Signe Wray and Lisa Hayes, both Phoenix, Ariz.; a stepson, Bruce Erickson, Pesotum, Ill.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Tom Findley
The memorial service for Tom Findley will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Hull & Hull Chapel, Grants Pass. The Rev. Ken Schubert will officiate.
Mr. Findley, 64, of Williams, died Monday (April 13, 1998) at his home.

He was born Sept. 15, 1933, in Douglas, Ariz. Twelve years later the family moved to Williams.
After graduating from Grants Pass High School in 1951, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force.
On Sept. 23, 1955, in Applegate, he married Paula York, who survives.
Mr. Findley drove a log truck and was a mechanic for many years prior to retiring in the early 1990s.
He enjoyed fishing and watching wildlife.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Judy Bolchoz, Williams, Kim Randolph, Caldwell, Idaho, and Terry Roberts, Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Tom, stationed with the U.S. Navy at Honolulu, Hawaii; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters.

Marjorie E. Swimley
Marjorie E. Swimley, 73, of Central Point, died Monday (April 13, 1998) at a local adult care home. No service is planned.
She was born Marjorie Helwig on Aug. 17, 1924, in Kansas City, Mo.
In December 1962, in Las Vegas, Nev., she married Harry C. Swimley, who survives.
Mrs. Swimley worked 12 years for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., retiring in 1986.
She moved to Central Point in 1989 from San Gabriel, Calif.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Robert H. Thorson, Los Angeles.

Dick Gust
Milo Richard "Dick" Gust, 78, formerly of Medford, died Sunday (April 12, 1998) in Olympia, Wash. His home was in Olympia.
No service is planned.
Mr. Gust lived and worked most of his life in Medford.
Arrangements were handled by Mills & Mills Funeral Service, Olympia.
Richard B. Mellen
The private service for Richard B. Mellen will be held Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford. The Rev. Kelly Vandehey will officiate. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Mellen, 78, of Medford, died Tuesday (April 14, 1998) at his home.

He was born Feb. 22, 1920, in West Chester, Pa.
On Aug. 29, 1944, in Washington, D.C., he married Betty L. Cheseldine, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1980.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a crew chief on a C45 British lend-lease aircraft.
After the war he was with Capital Airlines, then United Airlines as a foreman in aircraft engine overhaul at Washington National Airport and later at San Francisco Airport. He retired from United Airlines in 1980.
He was a member of the Retired United States Airlines Employees Association and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
An avid gardener, he also enjoyed wood and metal working and created many pieces of equipment he used in his garden.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Richard P., Seattle, James S., Sandpoint, Idaho, and David M., Cupertino, Calif.; a brother, Edward, Philadelphia, Pa.; a sister, Sara Wylie, Cleveland, Ohio; and a grandson.

Ralph B. Hagenbuch
Ralph B. Hagenbuch, 87, of Medford, died Tuesday (April 14, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service is planned.
He was born April 28, 1910, in Bloomsburg, Pa.
In 1933, in Baltimore, Md., he married Margaret Malvin, who died in 1987.
Mr. Hagenbuch held a pilot's license from 1935 to 1970.
He was general manager for 30 years at the Wineland Theater in Washington D.C., retiring in 1979.
He moved to the Rogue Valley in November 1997 from Lakewood, Fla.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1930 to 1933.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, District of Columbia Anacostia Lodge, and enjoyed golfing.
Survivors include a daughter, Joanne Hewitt, Medford; two sons, Richard, Westport, Maine, and John, Baltimore; two brothers, Ray, Lakeland, and Bill, Pottstown, Pa.; a sister, Lillian Breneman, Largo, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded him in death.

Wilbur A. Walker
The funeral for Wilbur A. Walker will be at 2 p.m. today in the Hillcrest Chapel, Medford. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Walker, 88, of Central Point, died Sunday (April 12, 1998) at his home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
He was born Jan. 1, 1910, in Beagle, (the site of Camp White during World War II), a son of Florance and Addie Walker. The Walker family came to Oregon in 1848.
On July 3, 1929, in Medford, he married Audrey Martin, who preceded him in death.
As a young man he worked for Modoc Orchards. Later he was self-employed in the logging industry and worked for Crater Lake Logging, Walker Construction, and Eads Transfer Service.
A self-taught carpenter, Mr. Walker enjoyed fixing things and helping others.
Mr. Walker was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include a son, Charles, Eagle Point; two daughters, Gloria Hinderer, Central Point, and Delores Wolf, John Day; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Monte G.; two sisters, Gladys Blackford and Ruby Smith; and a brother, Wilford.

Viva Maye Lewis
The funeral for Viva "Vi" Maye Lewis will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford. Pastor Larry Russell of Fathers House in Longview, Wash., will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Lewis, 75, of Medford, died Saturday (April 11, 1998) at her home.

She was born Viva Maye Askew on Jan. 1, 1923, in Turkey, Texas.
She graduated from Muleshoe, Texas, High School and then attended the Holmes School of Shorthand in Amarillo, Texas.
Mrs. Lewis worked for Cactus Ordnance Works in Dumas, Texas, and Pantex Ordnance in Amarillo, before moving to Medford in 1944.
In April 1945, in Medford, she married Clifford E. Lewis. They moved to Everett, Wash., then returned to Medford in December 1945. They were later divorced.
Mrs. Lewis was a bookkeeper, office manager and licensed tax preparer until her retirement in 1984.
She was active in sports in high school, was a member of the Medford YMCA Volleyball Club for several years, and played catcher on a softball team in 1982-83.
Survivors include a son, Clifford Don, Longview, Wash.; two sisters, Gertie Riggs, Medford, and Irene Splawn, Muleshoe; and two grandchildren. A son, Stephen Wesley, died June 15, 1988.
