Anne B. Eaton

Mrs. Eaton, 58, of Jacksonville, died Saturday (May 2, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born Anne Bonar on Nov. 19, 1939, in San Francisco.
Mrs. Eaton moved to Oregon in 1967.
On Feb. 20, 1971, in Reno, Nev., she married Ralph B. Eaton, who survives.
Mrs. Eaton owned and operated a payroll and bookkeeping service for many years in the Rogue Valley.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Jeri Melinda Bennett, Molt, Mont.; a brother, William L. Bonar, Bothell, Wash.; and a grandchild. She was preceded in death by a grandchild.

Thelma Claudia Wood
The memorial service for Thelma Claudia Wood will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the home of David and Susan Christiansen, 5120 Sardine Creek Road, Gold Hill.
Mrs. Wood, 79, of Rogue River, died Monday (May 4, 1998) at her home.
She was born Thelma Bevington on July 29, 1918, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
In Green Valley Lake, Calif., she married William D. Wood, who died in 1990. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1976.
Mrs. Wood owned a retail grocery store.
She was a member of the Evans Valley Bible Church and a former member of the Evans Valley Garden Club. She enjoyed playing bunko, gardening, cooking and crafts.
Survivors include a brother, Tom Bevington, Hermiston; and a sister, Myrtle Nichols, Council Bluffs.

Bette Hampton-Martin
The funeral for Bette D. Hampton-Martin will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Don Baker of the Ashland Christian Fellowship will officiate. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mrs. Hampton-Martin, 77, of Medford, died Tuesday (May 5, 1998) at her home.

She was born Bette Davis on Jan. 4, 1921, in Marshall, Texas.
She graduated from San Bernardino, Calif., High School in 1938, and moved to Ashland that year. She attended Southern Oregon Normal School in 1940.
In 1939, in Dorris, she married William Henry Hampton, who died in Palm Springs, Calif., in 1990. They owned and operated the Oregon Hotel in Ashland from 1945 to 1970.
From 1959 to 1979, she owned and operated the Heirloom Antique Shop in Ashland. She also held an Oregon real estate license from 1980 to 1994.
She moved to Medford in 1981.
In 1997, in Medford, she married Thom Martin, who survives.
Mrs. Hampton-Martin was a member of the Southern Oregon Historical Society, Britt Festival Association, Rogue Valley Symphony Guild, Soroptimist Club, Rogue Valley Country Club, Women's League, Palm Springs Opera Guild, Palm Springs Desert Museum, and an honorary member of the Ashland Elks Lodge.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, William Henry Hampton III, Palm Springs; five stepchildren; a brother, William Davis, Petaluma, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
Allen Kent Baker
The memorial service for Allen Kent Baker will be held Saturday at his daughter's home in Elverta, Calif.
Mr. Baker, 68, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, April 30, 1998, at his home.
He was born Nov. 29, 1929, in Kansas City, Mo.
On Oct. 25, 1987, in Reno, Nev., he married Debora Daniel, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 1 1/2 years ago from Elma, Wash.
Mr. Baker traveled throughout the country as a boilermaker for Combustion Engineering, Babcock & Wilcox and the Boilermakers Union. He retired in 1989.
He was a member of the Boilermakers Union Local 549 and the Elma Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed golf and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Denise Kim Thorson, Elverta, Dawn Lea Laird, Cameron Park, Calif., and Holly Elizabeth Katona, Oakley, Calif.; a sister, Mary Rakow, San Leandro, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Don Suttle
The funeral for Don Suttle will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. B.J. Holland will officiate. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Suttle, 58, of Ashland, died Saturday (May 2, 1998) at the Kona Community Hospital, Kealakekua, Hawaii.

He was born Oct. 13, 1939, in Rocky Del Holler, Ark.
On Dec. 4, 1960, in Ashland, he married Beryl Bosshard, who survives.
Mr. Suttle worked at Firply in White City before joining the Army in 1961, serving three years in South Carolina.
He returned to Ashland in 1965, again working at Firply as well as Provost Furniture and Cashway Plywood. In 1970, he moved to Bend where he was general manager for Cashway Plywood. He also worked for Bend Lumber Co.
After moving to Kailua-Kona in 1989, he was captain of the sport fishing boat "Cheers" until 1996, when he returned to Ashland. He then worked at the Grange Co-Op in Medford.
Mr. Suttle was a member of Ashland Christian Fellowship and Mokuaikaua Church in Kailua-Kona where he was a caretaker and handyman and was known as "Uncle Donnie" by the nursery school children.
He was a member of the Ashland Elks Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star, a 32nd degree Mason in the Bend Masonic Lodge No. 139 A.F. & A.M., associate guardian of Job's Daughters in Bend, and past president of the Central Oregon Old Car Club. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and reading.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Sherry Richison, Bend, and Kitty Powell, Eugene; a son, Rick, Corona, Calif.; two sisters, Edie Ruthstrom, Phoenix, and Pam Ruthstrom, Trail; a brother, Stan, Kailua-Kona; and seven grandchildren.

Mildred Grossi
Mildred Grossi, 94, of Central Point, died Saturday (May 2, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned.
She was born Mildred Correnti on Aug. 8, 1903, in Misilmeri, Italy.
On Oct. 18, 1924, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., she married Domenick Grossi, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Grossi moved to Central Point in 1996 from California.
Survivors include two sons, Alex, Medford, and Anthony, in Hawaii; two sisters, Marie Coppola, Newburgh, N.Y., and Frances Pellicco, Mount Vernon; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Homer L. Sechler
The memorial service for Homer L. Sechler will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Conger-Morris Chapel, Medford. The Rev. Kelly Vandehey of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford, will officiate.
Mr. Sechler, 85, of Medford, died Monday (May 4, 1998) at his home.
He was born Sept. 3, 1912, in Salisbury, Pa.
On Dec. 27, 1934, in Colorado, he married Margaret Lamping, who died in 1983.
They lived in Klamath Falls for 15 years before moving to the Rogue Valley in 1952.
Mr. Sechler owned and operated the Arco/Richfield gas station in Central Point. He also worked for various car dealerships, including Stevens Datsun and Roots Motors, Inc., retiring from Bob Frink Datsun in Medford.
He was a member of the Catholic Church, the Medford Elks and Moose lodges, and the IOOF in Klamath Falls. He was an avid gardener and fisherman and enjoyed garage sales, tinkering with small motors and traveling.
Survivors include three daughters, Glenda Read, Ashland, and Gena King and Lynda Miller, both Medford; a brother, Glenn, Longmont, Colo.; a sister, Zelma Tucker, Pasco, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lynn; and two great-grandchildren.

Clarence Black
The graveside service for Clarence Black will be held Friday in the Clear Creek Cemetery, Grass Valley, Calif. Pastor Andy Owens will officiate.
Mr. Black, 76, of Prospect, died Monday (May 4, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

He was born May 26, 1921, in Grass Valley, where he was a third-generation rancher.
On Feb. 5, 1977, in Reno, Nev., he married Alta Alston, who survives.
Mr. Black lived on his Grass Valley ranch on McCourtney Road until moving to the Rogue Valley five years ago.
In the early 1970s, he worked for Benuzzi Construction.
Mr. Black enjoyed gardening and supplied his family and neighbors with vegetables.
Survivors include three daughters, Robynn Stearns, Prospect, Marilyn Seolas, Grass Valley, and Karen Parker, Folsom, Calif.; a brother, Bruce, Grass Valley; two sisters, Edna Seaman, Grass Valley, and Gladys Okinga, Rio Linda, Calif.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Blum and Marian Karbowski.
