Tony Nieto
The funeral for Tony Nieto will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Perl Funeral Service-Siskiyou Chapel. The Rev. Robert Larson of Ascension Lutheran Church will officiate.
Mr. Nieto, 68, of Medford, died Saturday (May 9, 1998) at his home.
He was born May 27, 1929, in San Francisco.
On Sept. 13, 1952, in Las Vegas, he married Renee Cayssials, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1969 from San Francisco.
Mr. Nieto was a baker in a San Francisco bakery for several years before moving to Medford where he was a route salesman for Northwest News.
He was a member of the Rogue Valley Country Club and enjoyed trips to the coast and to Reno.
He served four years in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Tony, Medford; two daughters, Lynn Smith, Medford, and Shelley Lehrkind, Bozeman, Mont.; three sisters, Mary Romero, Lake Tahoe, Calif., Ann Domenico, Gardnerville, Nev., and Gerry Sanderson, Las Vegas; a brother, Frank, Gardnerville; and seven grandchildren.

Lena R. Miller
Lena Rosalinda Miller, 94, of Medford, died Friday (May 8, 1998) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born Lena Miller in January 1904 in Faulkton, S.D. She grew up on a farm at Oyster Bay near Olympia, Wash.
While in high school she was a live-in maid for a family in Olympia.
On March 9, 1922, she married Roy Glenn Miller, who died in February 1994. They first lived in Pocatello, Idaho, then in Tacoma, Wash., before moving to Southern Oregon in the mid-1950s.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda R. Hata, Medford; a son, Irvin H. Miller, Seattle; four granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. A son, First Lt. Glenn E. Miller, was killed in combat during World War II.

Joseph Passero
The memorial service for Joseph Passero, 72, of Ashland, who died Friday (May 8, 1998) at his home, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Litwiller-Simonsen Chapel in Ashland.
Pastor John Braun of the Phoenix Presbyterian Church will preside.

Born Oct. 26, 1925, in Johnstown, New York, he was the son of Marguerite and Samuel Passero. Reared in upstate New York, he was a veteran of the Marine Corps and the Air Force, serving from 1942 until 1955.
He married the former Mary Tyrell on March 21, 1965, in Elkton, Md.
He flew as a pilot for Eastern Airlines and the Flying Tigers Airlines for several years before going into heavy construction. He moved to Ashland in 1972 from the East Coast, and continued to work in heavy construction.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Survivors in addition to his wife include son, Bill, of Daton, Nev.; daughters Patsy Passero of Ashland, and Connie, Margie, JoAnne and Lu Anne Passero, all of Gloverville, New York; brothers Vinnie Passero of Gloverville and Chris Passero of Beaver, Pa.; sisters Jenny Roarick of Oswego, N.Y., and Sadie Passero of San Francisco; and nine grandchildren.

Mansel Wiley Milam
Funeral services for Mansel Wiley Milam, 87, of Medford, who died Wednesday (May 6, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rogue Valley Christian Church in Medford. The Rev. James R. Larsen will officiate.
Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford.
Born May 30, 1910, in Mineral Wells, Texas, he married the former Clara Evelyn Liles on May 20, 1933, in Mena, Ark.
They moved to the Rogue Valley from New Mexico in 1953.
He was a farmer and a construction worker. He was a member of Labor Union Local 1400. A member of the Old Time Fiddlers, he enjoyed gardening, playing guitar and playing dominoes.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth, of Medford; daughters Cleta Stephens of Las Vegas, and Mildred Reyna and June Roberts, both of Medford; 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
His wife preceded him in death on Jan. 19, 1994, as did a son, Edward Milam, in 1977.

Brett F. Palmerton
The memorial service for Brett Franklin Palmerton will be at 6 p.m. Saturday in Redwood Christian Church, Grants Pass. Pastors Russ Gibson and Bob Wood will officiate.
Mr. Palmerton, 31, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday (May 6, 1998) as the result of an automobile accident near Eagle Point.
He was born Sept. 24, 1966, in Grants Pass, and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1984.
Mr. Palmerton served in the Air Force during the Gulf War.
He was an electrician for Cedar Electric in White City.
Survivors include his wife, Melinda Palmerton, whom he married April 26, 1997, in Grants Pass; three daughters, Katie Bess, Grants Pass, and Ashle Palmerton and Kami Palmerton, both Fairfield, Calif.; two sons, Stephan O'Hair, Grants Pass, and Colton Palmerton, Fairfield; his parents, Frank and Lynette Palmerton, Grants Pass; three brothers, Travis, Grants Pass, Jerry, Bend, and Tyler, Bozeman, Mont.; a sister, Lisa Palmerton, Medford; and grandparents Esther Lefler, Grants Pass, and Keith and Margaret Palmerton, Yuma, Ariz.

Lorene Ashby
The funeral for Lorene Ashby will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. Pastor Joe McMahan will officiate.
Mrs. Ashby, 74, of Medford, died Wednesday (May 6, 1998) at Hearthstone.

She was born Nov. 17, 1923, in Merlin, a daughter of Thomas and Alice Patterson.
On Feb. 7, 1947, in Grants Pass, she married Harrold E. Ashby, who survives.
They lived in the Grants Pass area before moving to Medford.
Mrs. Ashby enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and caregiving.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Kathy Ashby, Medford; four brothers, Gordon Patterson, Medford, Gene Patterson and Claude Patterson, both Grants Pass, and Manley Patterson, Eugene; a sister, Dolly Henderson, Grants Pass; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Del; two brothers, Thomas and Robert Patterson; and a sister, Alice Jantzer.

Ruby Dean Semon
The memorial service for Ruby Dean Semon will be at 1 p.m. today in the Conger-Morris Chapel, Medford. Pastor Andy Green of Ashland Christian Fellowship will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Semon, 87, of Medford, died Thursday (May 7, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Ruby Dean Cox on March 14, 1911, in Seymour, Texas.
On July 3, 1921, in Medford, she married Gene Walton, who died in 1964.
Later she married Russell Semon, who died in 1982.
Mrs. Semon was a member of the Ashland Christian Fellowship and a volunteer Pink Lady at Rogue Valley Medical Center and Ashland Community Hospital.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Crosby, Medford; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Cardwell.

Zepha Flowers-Jacobs
Zepha Flowers-Jacobs, 86, of Medford, died Monday (May 4, 1998) at her home. A memorial service will be held later.

She was born Zepha McKay on June 20, 1911, in Joplin, Mo.
Mrs. Flowers-Jacobs was a school teacher before moving to the Rogue Valley in 1976 from Iowa.
On Dec. 16, 1995, in Medford, she married Morton "Mort" Jacobs, who survives.
Mrs. Flowers-Jacobs was a member of the American Association of University Women.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Max and Cleone Flowers, Central Point. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Edman; and second husband, Forrest Flowers.
