Rita F. Morse
Rita F. Morse, 92, of Grants Pass, died Friday (May 8, 1998) at Royale Garden Health & Rehabilitation Center. No service is planned.
She was born April 14, 1906, in Woodville, and moved to the Rogue Valley 82 years ago.
She graduated from Rogue River High School.
Miss Morse lived in Rogue River for 70 years before moving to Grants Pass 12 years ago.
She enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include a cousin, Lela Emrick.

Bennie Jo Tibbets
Billy Ray Tower
The memorial service for Bennie Jo Tibbets and her son, Billy Ray Tower will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Trail Christian Fellowship, 18881 Highway 62. A service also will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chemult Church.
Mrs. Tibbets, 43, and her son, Billy Ray Tower, 17, both of Sand Creek, died Monday (April 27, 1998) in Sand Creek.
She was born Dec. 19, 1954, in Yuma, Ariz.
Mrs. Tibbets grew up in Eagle Point and attended Eagle Point High School.
In 1982, in Reno, Nev., she married Reed Tibbets, who survives.
They lived in various Oregon towns before moving to Sand Creek 2 1/2 years ago.
Mrs. Tibbets picked mushrooms and enjoyed teaching others how to pick them. She also made home remedy teas and jewelry and did woodworking.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Loretta Kayser, Eagle Point; a son, Bobby Jo, Coos Bay; three sisters, Barbara Mearz, Eagle Point, Levida "Pumpkin" Ford, Medford, and Betty Garman, Chicago; her parents, Robert and Evelyn Graham, Eagle Point; her grandparents, Bud and Myrtle Sullivan, Tucson, Ariz.; and a grandson.

Dale Edward Watts
Dale Edward Watts, 74, of Grants Pass, died Friday (May 8, 1998) at Three Rivers Community Hospital. A private service is planned.
He was born March 6, 1924, in Edison, Neb.
Mr. Watts moved to the Rogue Valley in 1975 from Los Angeles.
He worked for Grants Pass Sanitation for eight years before retiring in 1985.
Mr. Watts was a member of the Applegate Community Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.
Survivors, include a son, Steven, Applegate; two daughters, Judy Smith, Billings, Mont., and Trish Peterson, Greycliff, Mont.; four brothers, Paul, Cheyenne, Wyo., Floyd, Powell, Wyo., Neal, Laurel, Mont., and Gerald, Billings; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael; a brother, Jimmy; and a grandson.

Allen A. Smith
Allen A. Smith, 88, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday (May 6, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned.
He was born Sept. 19, 1909, in Albany. He came to the Rogue Valley as a child, from Newport.
In 1936, in Medford, he married Claudina May Tolle, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Smith worked in the Portland shipyards during World War II.
After returning to the Rogue Valley he managed a Medford orchard until 1960, when he became a weed control technician for Jackson County. He retired in 1974.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen, Medford, and Donald, Boise, Idaho; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Smith.

Martha L. Niemann
The graveside service for Martha L. Niemann will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Eagle Point National Cemetery. Chaplain Wayne Bell of the Veterans Affairs Domiciliary, White City, will officiate.
Mrs. Niemann, 74, of White City, died Saturday (May 9, 1998) at her home.

She was born Martha Lydia Maki on June 5, 1923, in Marquette, Mich.
On May 10, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wis., she married George Niemann, who died in 1976. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1967 after he retired from the Navy.
During World War II, Mrs. Niemann was a medical-surgical technician for 14 months at the Army Air Force Hospital at Tinker Field, Okla.
Mrs. Niemann was a member of the Women's Veterans Association. She was a Christian and enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, and traveling.
Survivors include four daughters, Karen Penhall, Eagle Point, Kristy Benac, Talent, Patrice Castaneda, Mesa, Ariz., and Kathy "Kate" Arnew, Vancouver, Wash.; a son, David; five brothers, Arthur, Raymond, Don, William and Michael Maki; six sisters, Isabelle Maki, Lillian Perry, Helen Johnson, Louise Ballew, Gerty Lawrence, and Edith Pariseau; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred, Arnold and Albert Maki.

Conrad R. Borsting
Conrad Rhoads Borsting, 51, of Ashland, died Thursday (May 7, 1998) in Ashland. A private service was held.

He was born July 15, 1947, in Klamath Falls.
Mr. Borsting graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1965 and received degrees in chemistry and pharmacy from Oregon State University.
He was a lieutenant in the Navy from 1969 to 1974.
Survivors include his companion, Gerri Rose, Ashland; two daughters, Melissa and Tsara; his companion's son, Micah Byrnes, and daughter, Terra Byrnes; his parents, Con and Betty Borsting; two sisters, Barbara Thompson and Lind Higginson; and a brother, Jon.

Elliott Coldwater
Elliott "Doc" Coldwater, 79, of Medford, died Sunday (May 10, 1998) at his home. The service and interment will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Butte, Mont.

He was born July 1, 1918, in Anaconda, Mont.
Mr. Coldwater attended Anaconda schools and graduated from Bozeman, Mont., High School.
He received an engineering degree from Montana School of Mines in 1942. During college he worked in the drafting department at the Anaconda smelter and part-time at the Montana Standard.
Mr. Coldwater worked briefly for the Galigher Co. in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Vermont before becoming an aviation cadet in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He became a captain, serving most of the war years with B-29 bombers in India, China and the Mariana Islands.
He later joined the Air Force Reserves.
Mr. Coldwater returned to Anaconda as a design and construction engineer at its smelter, remaining there for two years before returning to active duty and eventually receiving a commission in the Regular U.S. Air Force.
On July 1, 1948, he married Dorothy Rosenberg, who survives.
Mr. Coldwater receiving a master of business administration degree from the USAF Institute of Technology and also attended the Command and General Staff School, the Air University War College, and Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
His overseas duty was in French Morocco and Paris.
In 1963, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and was Air Force's chief engineer for the construction and activation of the Minuteman Missile Complex at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Great Falls, Mont.
Retiring in 1969, he returned the Anaconda Co. serving as owner's representative for construction and start up of the Berkeley Crusher in Butte, arbiter plant in Anaconda, the Electric Furnace Project, expansion of acid plant and other smaller projects.
When the smelter closed, Mr. Coldwater joined the Ralph M. Parsons Co. as resident construction manager for a molybdenum project at Questa, N.M. Upon completion of that project, he returned to Anaconda to retire and play bridge.
The Coldwaters moved to Spokane, Wash., in 1994, due to medical reasons, then to Medford.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Jolee Coldwater Nelson, Medford; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph; and a brother, who died on Okinawa in World War II.

Dorothy M. Bolton
The cryptside service for Dorothy Mitchell Bolton, formerly of Phoenix, will be at 2 p.m. today in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford. The Rev. Dave Humphreys of the Phoenix Church of Christ will officiate.
Mrs. Bolton, 84, of Miles City, Mont., died Saturday (May 2, 1998) in Miles City.
She was born Dorothy Lueck on Oct. 30, 1913, in Chester, Mont.
On June 9, 1936, in Havre, Mont., she married Theodore Mitchell, who died in Medford in 1971.
They lived in Fort Peck, Mont., then in Denver and Tacoma, Wash., before moving to Phoenix where they bought a mobile home park. In 1951 they sold the park and owned and operated a coin-operated laundry and operated apartments in the area for 21 years.
On May 1, 1979, in Medford, she married William Bolton, who survives. They moved to Miles City in 1980.
She enjoyed playing the organ and crocheting.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, and a sister, Clara Pelzl Woods, Miles City, Montana. Also surviving are nephews, Don, Phoenix, and Bob, Titusville, Fla.; two nieces, Mary Ellen Jackson, Phoenix, and Cherie Blocker, Yelma, Wash.
