Keith J. Cushman
The memorial service for Keith J. Cushman will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Lake Selmac in the shelter near the Boy Scouts area. A potluck will follow the service. Interment will be in Granite Hill Cemetery, Grants Pass.
Mr. Cushman, 42, of Grants Pass, died May 8, 1998, at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland.

He was born Dec. 28, 1955, in Yreka, Calif. The family moved to Grants Pass when he was an infant.
During the Vietnam War, he served three years in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Cushman graduated from Rogue Community College with a degree in human services.
On July 9, 1994, at Lake Selmac, he married Melodye Morgan, who survives.
Mr. Cushman was an alcohol and drug counselor at Rogue Recovery Programs before becoming ill.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Jessica Rose Cushman, Grants Pass; a stepson, Kirk M. Firestone, Grants Pass; two stepdaughters, Angelica L. Firestone, Grants Pass, and Shrinia Zaldivar, Sonoma, Calif.; his parents, John and Rose Cushman, Grants Pass; three brothers, Mickey, Medford, Tony, Grants Pass, and Kenneth, Molalla; and two sisters, Beverlee Stevens, Bremerton, Wash., and Cheryl Richardson, Arvada, Colo.

Derek Troy Atkins
The funeral for Derek Troy Atkins will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Ashland Christian Fellowship. Pastor Andy Green will officiate. Interment will be in Scenic Hills Memorial Park.
Mr. Atkins, 29, of Ashland, died Tuesday (May 26, 1998) at his home after a two-year battle with stomach cancer.
He was born Dec. 12, 1968, in Portland.
Mr. Atkins was a 1987 graduate of North Medford High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in Spanish from Southern Oregon University and completed the fifth-year education program.
Mr. Atkins taught Spanish for four years at Ashland High School.
Survivors include his wife, Shelly S. Atkins, Ashland; a son, Liam J., Ashland; his father, Steve L., Beaver Creek; his mother, Debra S. Fredrickson, Redmond; and a brother, David Dryer, Portland.

Margaret Denman Horner
The memorial service for Margaret Denman Horner will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church, Medford. The Rev. Joyce DeGraaff will officiate. Interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mrs. Horner, 93, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday (May 26, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born Margaret Bolt on March 10, 1905, in Red Oak, Iowa.
She was a French teacher for Salem Public Schools until 1930.
On July 19, 1930, in Salem, she married Kenneth G. Denman, who died in 1962. They moved to Medford.
On Aug. 8, 1963, in Medford, she married John W. Horner, who survives.
Mrs. Horner was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Jackson County Republican Women. She was a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and bridge.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Donald K. Denman, Medford; two daughters, Margaret Ann Hultgren, Fair Oaks, Calif., and Carol L. Holst, Placentia, Calif.; a brother, Leland E. Bolt, Emmett, Idaho; a sister, Martha Van Donge, Walla Walla, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Patricia L. Rackers
Patricia Louise Rackers, 69, of Medford, died Monday (May 25, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No public service is planned.
She was born Patricia Winchester on May 31, 1928, in Fresno, Calif.
Mrs. Rackers worked for 15 years at Three Fountains Nursing Center in Medford before retiring.
She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and enjoyed gardening and making quilts for the birthing center in Gold Beach.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Bechler, Medford; three sons, Bill, Shady Cove, Ron, Gold Beach, and Norm, Carlsbad, N.M.; a sister, Lucille Wagenlietner, Fresno; and five grandchildren. Her husband, William E. Rackers, died in 1969; and a son, Gary, in 1994.

Edward Henry Rodgers
Edward Henry Rodgers, 82, of Medford, died Monday (May 25, 1998) at his home. No service is planned. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

He was born April 7, 1916, in Boise, Idaho.
Mr. Rodgers moved to the Rogue Valley in 1940.
On June 27, 1964, in Reno, he married Lula Cochran, who died in 1993.
He was a receiving clerk for 27 years with United Grocers before retiring.
Survivors include four daughters, Shellie I. Rodgers, Medford, Donna F. Knutson, Lake Oswego, Patsy Green, Eugene, and Sally Grosclaude, Richland, Wash.; a son, James E., Glendora, Calif.; two sisters, Olive Hubbard, Washougal, Wash., and Mary Stanton, Camas, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ruth Morris Bayliss
The graveside service for Ruth Porter Bayliss will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Roseburg Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Emmett Shortreed of the First United Methodist Church of Medford will officiate.
Mrs. Bayliss, 96, of Medford, died Tuesday (May 26, 1998) at Hearthstone.
She was born Ruth Morris on Jan. 22, 1902, in Rainier, Wash. The family moved to Tenmile in Douglas County in 1915.
She was a 1920 graduate of Ashland High School.
On Sept. 15, 1920, she married Manie Alvin Porter, who died Jan. 1, 1961.
On March 20, 1977, she married Edwin Ayres Bayliss, who died Jan. 6, 1985.
Mrs. Bayliss moved to Medford in 1995 after living in Douglas County for more than 75 years.
Survivors include a brother, C. Gordon Morris, Medford; and a sister, Margaret Alice Morris, Bend. Five sisters preceded her in death.

Lucille Jessie Hart
The memorial service for Lucille Jessie Hart will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou Chapel, Medford. The Rev. Colleen Graham of Christ Unity Church of Medford will officiate. Inurnment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hart, 89, of Phoenix, died Tuesday (May 26, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Lucille Spicer on March 19, 1909, in Leon, Iowa.
In 1925, she married Dossie G. Akers, who preceded her in death.
In 1970, she married Richard Hart, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hart moved to the Rogue Valley in 1972.
In her later years she was an in-home caregiver.
Mrs. Hart was a member of Manzanita Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in Klamath Falls. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, dancing and card games.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Godman, Phoenix; two brothers, Glen Spicer, Roseburg, and Herbert Spicer, Perth, Australia; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A son, Gene Akers died in 1971. Three sisters and six brothers also preceded her in death.

Dr. William Barnum
Friends and relatives of Dr. William Barnum will share their reminiscences of him at a gathering at 1 p.m. Saturday in Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou Chapel in Medford.
Dr. Barnum, 81, died Wednesday (April 22, 1998) at his Medford home.
