Paul Francis Whitehead
The funeral for Paul Francis Whitehead will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Siletz Tribal Community Center, Siletz. David West and Don Moccasin will officiate. Interment will be in the Paul Washington Cemetery in Siletz.
Mr. Whitehead, 74, of Phoenix, died Friday (May 29, 1998) at Ashland Community Hospital.
Memorial contributions may be made to Nanitch Shahallie Youth Treatment Center, 5119 River Road, N., Salem, OR 97303.
He was born April 9, 1924, at St. Mary's Reserve, Cranbrook, B.C.
Mr. Whitehead moved to the Rogue Valley in 1950.
On Aug. 4, 1991, in Salem, he married Donna Hufteling, who survives.
Mr. Whitehead was a member of St. Mary's Bank of the Ktunxca Nation and the Native American community.
He worked throughout western Oregon with the Native American Community, and at Nanitch Shahallie Youth Treatment Center and the Chemawa Indian School in Salem.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Stuart, Craig and Tony, all Siletz; two daughters, Peggy Medina, Eddyville, and Tami Miner, Siletz; a stepson, Scott Curtis, Medford; a stepdaughter, Alesia Breazeale, Medford; and 12 grandchildren. A son,
Paul Jr., died in 1956; and a daughter, Linda Whitehead King, in 1993.

Linnea Tora Paul
Linnea Tora Paul, 88, of Talent, died Saturday (May 30, 1998) at Linda Vista Care Center, Ashland. The graveside service will be held in Warren.
She was born Linnea Skarberg on March 4, 1910, in Sweden.
In 1930, in Portland, she married Russell H. Paul, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Paul moved to Oregon in 1995 from California.
Survivors include a son, Robert R., Ashland; a daughter, Shirley Gary, Newhall, Calif.; two sisters, Mildred Adams, Portland, and Marion Kalberg, St. Helens; a brother, Bill Skarberg, Sun City, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Patricia S. Underhill
Patricia Suzanne Underhill, 45, formerly of Medford, died Sunday (May 17, 1998) at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Fontana, Calif. Her home was in Colton, Calif.
The memorial service was held in Hermosa Memorial Cemetery, Colton. Pastor Dane Aaker officiated.

She was born April 18, 1953, in Seattle and grew up in Medford.
Miss Underhill graduated from Medford High School in 1971 and from Southern Oregon State College in 1976.
She was a teacher's aide at Del Rosa Christian School in San Bernardino, Calif.
Survivors include a brother, James C., Medford; and a sister, Pamela S. Moothart, Highland, Calif.

Floyd `Gay' Haworth
The funeral for Floyd Gaylon "Gay" Haworth will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Central Valley Chapel, Central Point. Pastor Christopher White of Trail Christian Fellowship will officiate. Interment will be in the Antioch Cemetery, Sams Valley.
Mr. Haworth, 88, of Medford, died Sunday (May 31, 1998) at his home.

He was born Sept. 21, 1909, in Gate, Okla.
On July 7, 1937, in Sacramento, Calif., he married Margaret Stinson, who died in 1976. They moved to the Butte Falls area 50 years ago from Sacramento.
Mr. Haworth owned and operated a ranch and dairy in Butte Falls. He also worked at Cascade Wood Products in White City.
He moved to Medford from Butte Falls in 1992.
A member of Butte Falls Community Bible Church and the Eagles Lodge, he also was an avid hunter.
Survivors include a daughter, Ronda Rea Haworth, Medford; a brother, Don, Sacramento; a sister, Lorraine Unden, Sacramento; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Velna Haworth; and a brother, Gilbert.

Betty May Barger
The graveside service for Betty May Barger will be at 3 p.m. today in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland. Pastor Robert Gass of Harvest Baptist Temple will officiate.
Mrs. Barger, 73, of Talent, died Sunday (May 31, 1998) at her home.

She was born Betty May Roberts on Aug. 3, 1924, in Olene, Klamath County, and moved to the Rogue Valley 50 years ago.
On May 29, 1952, in Salem, she married John Barger, who survives.
Mrs. Barger was head cook for the Phoenix-Talent School District middle school and high school.
She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and other outdoor activities.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Johnnie, Medford, Ken Hawkins, Grants Pass, and Larry Johnson, Hyatt Lake; a daughter, Virginia Carrington, Portland; a stepson, Eugene Barger, Gladstone; a sister, Audella Borri, Medford.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, George; and two brothers, George and Harold Davis.

Antonio Pieroni
The memorial service for Antonio Pieroni will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Central Valley Chapel, Central Point. Pastor Marion Clarkson of the Medford First Church of the Nazarene will officiate.
Mr. Pieroni, 82, of Central Point, died Friday (May 29, 1998) at his home.
He was born March 16, 1916, in Chelsea, Mass.
Mr. Pieroni was a sawyer and a millwright.
He moved to the Rogue Valley four years ago from Long Beach, Calif.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Pieroni enjoyed fishing, woodworking and cabinet making.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Sweet, Central Point, Carole Anne Fraser, Long Beach, and Dorothy J. Curtis, Manchester, N.H.; a son, Antonio Jr., San Pedro, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

William C. Rush
The memorial service for William C. Rush will be at 1 p.m. today in Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou Chapel. The Rev. Carmelo Mifsud will officiate. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Rush, 78, of Medford, died Thursday (May 28, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born March 11, 1920, in Hood River.
On Aug. 9, 1941, in Hood River, he married Donna Jean Rhoades, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1961 from Hood River.
Mr. Rush worked for Standard Oil Company for 15 years, retiring in 1982.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
A 50-year-member of the Elks Lodge, he also was a member of the Moose Lodge, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and the American Legion.
Mr. Rush enjoyed outdoor activities.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, William Robert and G. Norman, both Medford, and Richard Loyal, Sherwood; a brother, Robert M., Prineville; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A son, Edward Jan, died in 1958. A brother and a sister also preceded him in death.

Isabel Sickels
The memorial service for Isabel H. Sickels, former Jackson County commissioner and activist, will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Rogue River Room of Stevenson Union at Southern Oregon University, Ashland.
Mrs. Sickels, 73, of Ashland, died Friday (May 29, 1998) at her home.

She was born Isabel Hyams on Feb. 6, 1925, in St. Paul, Minn.
Mrs. Sickels received a bachelor of science degree in speech from Northwestern University.
On June 30, 1948, in St. Paul, she married Dr. Edward W. Sickels, who died in 1988.
They moved to The Dalles in 1953 and a year later moved to Medford, living there until moving to Ashland in 1987.
Mrs. Sickels was elected Jackson County commissioner in 1974, serving one term.
She served on the Oregon State Forestry Advisory Council, the Bureau of Land Management Advisory Council, and Jackson County Parks and Recreation Commission.
One year she lobbied in Washington, D.C., with others of the Citizens League for Emergency Action on the Rogue, known as CLEAR, in opposition to the Rogue Basin Project, a three-dam project in the basin.
Mrs. Sickels traveled extensively, particularly to foreign countries for birdwatching. She participated in the annual bird count.
Mrs. Sickels was active in the Nature Conservancy, Bear Creek Greenway Foundation, National Audubon Society, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, World Wildlife Fund, Rogue Valley Symphony, Britt Music Festivals, Ashland Racquet Club, Southern Oregon Historical Society, Oregon Lung Association, Jefferson Public Radio and Jackson County Friends of the Library.
Survivors include a son, Edward B., Ashland; a daughter, Coralie S. Toevs, New York City; and a brother, Norman B. Hyams, San Rafael, Calif.
