Lloyd Adams Pearce
The memorial service for Lloyd Adams Pearce will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Unity Church, Grants Pass. The Rev. Doris Roser will officiate.
Mr. Pearce, 74, of Grants Pass, died Saturday (May 30, 1998) at his home.

He was born April 10, 1924, in Warren, Ark.
Mr. Pearce graduated from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
On March 18, 1978, in Grants Pass, he married Lois Pearce, who survives.
In Los Angeles, Mr. Pearce worked for the probation department and in civil service for many years. He also worked in banking before moving to Grants Pass in 1977.
Mr. Pearce worked in the maintenance department at Rogue Community College in Grants Pass, retiring in 1989. He then was an aquatic instructor for the YMCA.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Mr. Pearce founded the Arthritis Support Group in Josephine County and conducted meetings for 3 1/2 years.
He was a member of the Unity Church and enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching martial arts and boxing on TV.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, David Axtell, Grants Pass, Tom, Santa Barbara, Calif., Richard, Westwood, Calif., and Dennis, Santa Monica, Calif.; a daughter, Lowanah Pearce, Grants Pass; and two sisters, Bette Mitchell, Grants Pass, and Bernice Jones, Yazoo City, Miss. He was preceded in death by 10 siblings.

Edith Alice Trusty
The memorial service for Edith Alice Trusty will be at 1 p.m. today in the First Church of the Nazarene, Medford. Pastor Kevin Gowland will officiate.
Mrs. Trusty, 79, of Medford, died Monday (June 1, 1998) in Medford.

She was born Edith Woolhiser on May 25, 1919, in Portland, and moved to the Rogue Valley in the late 1930s.
On Oct. 1, 1937, in Ashland, she married William Trusty, who preceded her in death. They lived in several Oregon cities before returning to the Rogue Valley in 1974.
Mrs. Trusty was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where she was active in the World Missionary Society. Her hobbies included oil painting.
Survivors include four sons, Bill Jr., Medford, Phillip, Ashland, Charles, Salem, and Paul, Klamath Falls; two brothers, Wilbur Woolhiser, Redmond, and Burle Woolhiser, Kissimmee, Fla.; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 13 siblings.

Charlotte J. Crook
The memorial service for Charlotte J. Crook will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lithia Park bandshell, Ashland. The Rev. Nancy Landauer of the United Methodist Church of Smith River, Calif., will officiate.
Mrs. Crook, 67, of Ashland, died Friday (May 29, 1998) at her home.

She was born Charlotte Landauer on April 11, 1931, in Portland.
Mrs. Crook lived in Troutlake, Wash., attending school there through the eighth grade. She attended Gresham High School for two years then moved to Brookings, where she was valedictorian of the class of 1947 and also Queen of the Azalea Festival Court.
On June 19, 1949, in Portland, she married Richard Burton Crook, who died in 1972.
Mrs. Crook was a member of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, was president of its of Southern Oregon chapter, served on its state board and volunteered in its library. She initiated and taught the first Journey of Hope (Family to Family) class in 1992.
She was a jazz enthusiast and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include a son, Wayne Burton Crook, Medford; her mother, Mary Margaret Landauer, Portland; a brother, David Landauer, Smith River; and two sisters, Patricia Nelsen, The Dalles, and LaVerne Landauer, Longview, Wash. A son, John, died in 1972.

John Francis Brown
John Francis Brown, 74, formerly of Medford, died Tuesday (May 26, 1998) in Brookings. His home was in Brookings. A memorial service was held May 29 at the Brookings Elks Lodge.

He was born April 30, 1924, in Baylor, Mont.
In 1953, in Reno, Nev., he married Helen Marie Poole, who died in 1988.
Mr. Brown was in the automobile business for many years until his retirement.
He lived in Medford from 1977 to 1990, when he moved to Brookings.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Piatt, Medford, Kimberly Strand, Portland, and Diane Fanning, Garden Grove, Calif.; a brother, Roy; and four grandsons.

Andrew Harrop
The graveside service for Andrew Harrop will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Granite Hill Cemetery, Grants Pass.
Andrew, 12, of Grants Pass, died Sunday (May 30, 1998) at his home after a long illness.
He was born June 10, 1985, in Grants Pass.
Andrew enjoyed music, reading, watching videos and family outings.
Survivors include his parents, Russ and Wendy Harrop, Grants Pass; and grandparents, Betty Bloodgood, North Palm Beach, Fla., and George Harrop, Los Angeles. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Bill Bloodgood and Ruth Harrop.

Jack A. Woodhead
The memorial service for Jack A. Woodhead, former Grants Pass High School principal and district personnel director, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church of Grants Pass.
Mr. Woodhead, 50, of Grants Pass, died Monday (June 1, 1998) at his home.

Mr. Woodhead moved to Grants Pass from Chico, Calif., in 1973, and until 1994 was a coach, teacher, or administrator in the Grants Pass School District.
His career included teaching, coaching, and serving as principal and vice principal at Grants Pass High School, dean of students at South Middle School, athletic director, principal at North Middle School and finally district personnel director.
He was born Jan. 22, 1948, in Concord, Calif.
He graduated from Clayton High School in Concord in 1966, and from California State University at Chico in 1971.
Mr. Woodhead received a master's degree in athletic administration from St. Mary's College, Moraga, Calif., in 1982, and his Oregon school administrative credential from the University of Oregon in 1988.
On June 9, 1979, in Grants Pass, he married Susan Anderson, who survives.
While attending college, Mr. Woodhead coached basketball and baseball at Hamilton, Calif., Union High School. In 1971, he taught high school at Fouts Springs Boys Ranch in Colusa, Calif. He next taught and coached at Chico Christian School in 1972.
Mr. Woodhead was an active member of First Baptist Church and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his parents, John and LaFern Woodhead, Grants Pass; and a brother, Bill, Grants Pass.

Anthony C. Shelansky
Anthony Charles Shelansky, 83, of Medford, died Monday (June 1, 1998) at the Medford Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. A private inurnment service is planned.
He was born Nov. 2, 1914, in Glastonbury, Conn.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Jane Shelansky, Medford; three daughters, Carol Jeffers, Tigard, Jean Wirsing, Corona, Calif., and Susan Nylund, Falls Church, Va.; a brother, William, in Connecticut; and four grandchildren.

Paul Francis Whitehead
The funeral for Paul Francis Whitehead will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Siletz Tribal Community Center, Siletz. David West and Don Moccasin will officiate. Interment will be in the Paul Washington Cemetery in Siletz.
Mr. Whitehead, 74, of Phoenix, died Friday (May 29, 1998) at Ashland Community Hospital.

He was born April 9, 1924, on St. Mary's Reserve, Cranbrook, B.C.
Mr. Whitehead moved to Oregon in 1950 and to the Rogue Valley in September 1997.
On Aug. 4, 1991, in Salem, he married Donna Curtis, who survives.
Mr. Whitehead was a member of St. Mary's Band of the Ktunxca Nation.
He worked throughout western Oregon with the Native American Community.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Stuart, Craig and Tony, all Siletz; two daughters, Peggy Medina, Eddyville, and Tami Miner, Siletz; a stepson, Scott Curtis, Medford; a stepdaughter, Alesia Breazeale, Medford; and 12 grandchildren. A son,
Paul Jr., died in 1956; and a daughter, Linda Whitehead King, in 1993.
