Geneva Eileen Huffman

The graveside service for Geneva Eileen Huffman will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Central Point Masonic Cemetery on Hamrick Road. Pastors Tom Sabin of Hope Christian Church, Central Point, and Jeff Anderson of the Central Point Assembly of God, will officiate.

Mrs. Huffman, 49, of White City, died Monday (June 15, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Hospice, 2825 E. Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Geneva Ellis on May 31, 1949, in Pasco, Wash., and moved to Oregon in 1965 from Idaho.

On April 18, 1981, in Gold Beach, she married John R. Huffman, who survives. They moved to White City in 1983.

Mrs. Huffman owned and operated Reliable Electric in White City.

She enjoyed gardening and crafts.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Elizabeth Huffman, White City; three sons, John Jr., Myrtle Creek, and Mike and Joshua, both Camas Valley; her father, Shelton Ellis, Twin Falls, Idaho; her mother, Geniece Ellis, Eagle Point; three sisters, Yolonda Ellis, Eagle Point, and Linette Ellis and Geniece Engblom, both Portland; and a brother, Robert Ellis, Coos Bay.

Friends may pay their respects from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Abbey Funeral, 2680 N. Pacific Highway, Medford.

Eleanore S. Ames

Eleanore S. Ames, 91, of Medford, died Friday (June 12, 1998) at her home. Private inurnment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vision Northwest, 621 S.W. Alder, Suite 500, Portland, OR 97205.

Miss Ames was born Aug. 21, 1906, in Duluth, Minn., a daughter of Albert and Lena Ames. The family moved to the Rogue Valley in 1913.

Miss Ames started working for California-Oregon Power Co. (COPCO) in 1930, then Pacific Power after it acquired the local company in 1961. She retired in 1965.

She enjoyed traveling, reading, writing and gardening.

Her caregiver and companion was Ann Davis, Medford.

Survivors include a sister, Margaret Fluhrer, Medford. Two sisters preceded her in death.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou, Medford.

Daniel L. Thornbrue

Daniel LeRoy Thornbrue, 65, of Grants Pass, died Saturday (June 13, 1998) at Highland House and Rehabilitation Center.

A private service was held Monday. Jeff Prosise, minister of Church of Christ Northside, officiated. Interment will be in Sunset Heights Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Dubs Cancer Center, 2825 E. Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Nov. 6, 1932, in LaGrande, and he moved to Grants Pass 40 years ago.

For several years, he was a horse logger and equipment operator. He also owned a fabrication business in Hemet, Calif.

Mr. Thornbrue played various musical instruments and performed in several Grants Pass nightclubs. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He served in the Oregon National Guard from 1949 to 1951.

Survivors include two sons, Marvin, Talent, and Guy, Reyno, Ark.; two sisters, Ida Hane, Pacific City, and Nina Kuehner, Colton, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Arrangements: Grants Pass Funeral Alternatives.

Richard Francis Olcese

The memorial service for Richard Francis Olcese will be at 11 a.m. June 24 in St. Anne's Catholic Church, Grants Pass. The Rev. Gregory Moys will officiate. A reception will follow in St. Anne's Parish Hall.

Mr. Olcese, 79, of Grants Pass, died Friday (June 12, 1998) at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

He was born Oct. 4, 1918, in San Mateo, Calif.

In Long Beach, Calif., he married Florence O'Connell, who survives.

Mr. Olcese was an elevator installer for Pacific Elevator Co. in San Francisco prior to retiring in 1983.

He moved to the Rogue Valley 12 years ago from Auburn, Calif.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Olcese was an honorary member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors and a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the American Bowling Congress. He also enjoyed golfing and traveling.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Robin Booth, Corvallis; a son, Richard Martin Olcese, Ross, Calif.; two stepsons, Eddie Zuck, Homeland, Calif., and John Zuck, Long Beach; a stepdaughter, Betty Zuck, Santa Barbara, Calif.; a brother, George, Gold Canyon, Ariz.; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. A brother, William, preceded him in death.

Ruth I. Brown

The graveside service for Ruth Idabelle Brown will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland. Pastor Wesley Jepson of The Dalles, her son-in-law, will officiate.

Mrs. Brown, 84, of Ashland, died Sunday (June 14, 1998) at Three Rivers Nursing Center, Medford.

She was born Ruth Epplett on March 8, 1914, in Seattle.

On Feb. 13, 1934, in San Luis Obispo, Calif., she married Albert M. Brown, who died May 8, 1996. They moved to Ashland in 1973 from Arroyo Grande, Calif.

Survivors include three sons, Jack, Ashland, Robert, Northridge, Calif., and Gerald, Sunnyvale, Calif.; a daughter, Doris Jepson, The Dalles; a brother, Gordon Epplett; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may pay their respects from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Victor Charles Rapp

The memorial service for Victor Charles Rapp will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Palmerton Park in Rogue River.

Mr. Rapp, 61, of Medford, died Sunday (June 14, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 15, 1936, in Wimer, a son of George and Thelma Jacobs Rapp.

Mr. Rapp attended Evans Valley Elementary School. At Rogue River High School, he was a member of the football and track teams.

Mr. Rapp was a cement finisher for many years, most recently for Cut-N-Break in Medford.

Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Wheeler, Medford; a son, Victor Jr., Costa Mesa, Calif.; three sisters, Maxine Dessert, Juanita Jones and Rose Griffin, all Medford; a brother, William, Wimer; and three grandsons. A brother, Jackie, preceded him in death.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.

Hank Schuermann

Henry "Hank" Schuermann, 77, of Medford, died Monday (June 15, 1998) at his home. No service is planned.

He was born June 3, 1921, in Tenafly, N.J.

On July 16, 1943, in Los Angeles, he married Barbara J. Pierson, who died Jan. 5, 1996. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1971 from Southern California.

Mr. Schuermann worked for Taylor-Made Builders in Ashland for many years, retiring in 1983.

He enjoyed fishing and camping.

Survivors include three daughters, Janet Crisp, Eagle Point, and Becky Roberts and Lori Wetzel, both Medford; a son, Marc, Pasco, Wash.; a sister, Terry Murray, Cresskill, N.J.; and six grandchildren.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou, Medford.

K. Greg Keith

Kenneth Gregory Keith, formerly of Medford and Ashland, died Monday (June 8, 1998) of cancer at his home in Santa Cruz, Calif. A memorial service was held Saturday in Chapel of the Four Seasons, Santa Cruz.

He was born Oct. 11, 1945, in San Francisco.

Mr. Keith graduated from Medford Senior High School in 1963 and attended Southern Oregon College.

In the 1970s, he was master poet of the Oregon Art Commission's Poet-in-the-Schools Program for two years.

Mr. Keith began a career in computer programming in 1980. He worked at Parametric Technology Corp. in San Jose, Calif.

On March 20, 1998, he married Susan Borton of Palo Alto, Calif., who survives.

Mr. Keith's first full-length collection of poetry and prose, "Life Near 310 Kelvin," to be released in September, was completed a few weeks before his death.

He also enjoyed singing, playing guitar and hard science.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Kim Murphy and Thea Keith, both Portland; a brother, Dale, Everett, Wash.; and two sisters, Peg Pauck, Medford, and Jean Boardman, Seattle.

Arrangements: Santa Cruz Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
