Robert A. Neish
Robert A. Neish, 79, of Medford, died Sunday (July 26, 1998) at his home. A private service is planned.

He was born Aug. 10, 1918, in Tilden, Ill., and grew up in Vinton, Iowa. He moved with his family to Steamboat Springs, Colo., in 1936.
On June 23, 1939, in Hayden, Colo., he married Beatrice Eller, who survives.
Mr. Neish was inducted into the U.S. Army reserve in 1942 and taught radio and telephone classes at the University of Colorado, Boulder. After entering the regular Army in 1943, he taught radio technology at the Western Signal Corps School at the University of California, Davis. Later he served in France, Belgium and Germany where he helped establish radio and telephone communications.
He was discharged in 1946 and returned to Hayden.
The family moved to Yreka, Calif., and later to Grants Pass, where he owned and operated Bob's TV.
Mr. Neish established and operated the first television translator in Grants Pass and installed translators and cable systems in many remote locations in the region.
He was a 38-year member of the Grants Pass Elks Lodge, serving in all offices including exalted ruler.
In retirement, he traveled with his wife frequently to Europe and through much of the United States. Mr. Neish also enjoyed fishing and camping.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Gwenn Templin, Jacksonville; a son, Scott, Kirkland, Wash.; a brother, Jack, Boulder, Colo.; a grandson; and two step-grandchildren.

Albert L. Burdick
Albert Leroy Burdick, 89, formerly of Medford, died Monday (July 27, 1998) at the Kittitas Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ellensburg, Wash. No service is planned.
He was born Nov. 11, 1908, in Guthrie, Okla.
On June 21, 1933, in Lyons, Colo., he married Adelyn Clark, who survives.
Mr. Burdick was a rock mason before his retirement.
He lived in Medford from 1972 to 1997, when he moved to Ellensburg.
Mr. Burdick was a member of the Medford First Presbyterian Church and the IOOF Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and wood crafts.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Roylyn Gordon, Ellensburg, and Dorothy Jeannene Moores, Aurora, Colo.; a son, Jordon, Lyons; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Helen Butcher
The memorial service for Helen Butcher will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Grants Pass. Pastor Dwayne Robinson of the Ashland First Baptist Church will officiate.
Mrs. Butcher, 77, of Ashland, died June 16, 1998, at the Linda Vista Care Center.

She was born Helen Foster on Feb. 11, 1921, in Portland.
During World War II, she served in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps.
After the war she was an inspector in the ordnance defense division of the Albert Wright Co. in Oakland, Calif.
Later she lived in Pleasanton, Calif., where she was a Realtor with Coldwell Banker.
After her retirement, she lived in Santa Rosa and San Jose, Calif., before moving to Mountain Meadows in Ashland.
Survivors include a son, Larry Green, Laurel, Md.; and a sister, Maxine Robinson, Ashland.

James `Jim' H. Young
Friends and relatives of James "Jim" Young will share their memories of him at a gathering at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Roxy Ann Mineral & Gem Society, 2002 Scenic Ave., Central Point.
Mr. Young, 72, of Medford, died Monday (July 20, 1998) at his home.

He was born Jan. 10, 1926, in Davenport, Wash.
Mr. Young moved to Oregon 50 years ago and had lived in the Rogue Valley for the past 30 years.
On Feb. 14, 1990, in Medford, he married Hazel M. Keller, who survives.
Mr. Young worked at various plywood mills in Medford and Grants Pass.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Young was a member of the Roxy Ann Gem & Mineral Club and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include six sons, Joseph Keller, Phillip Keller, and Terrance Canfield, all Medford, Jim and Doug, both Grants Pass, and Dave, Eagle, Colo.; five daughters, Edith Williamson, Sams Valley, Ethel J. Keller, Gold Hill, Kathy Lindstrom, Puyallup, Wash., Karen Doyle, Fall City, Wash., and Phyllis LaRose, Sacramento, Calif.; 27 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Ben Anderson
The funeral for Ben Anderson will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou, Medford. Interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mr. Anderson, 82, of Medford, died Thursday (July 23, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born July 12, 1916, in Anoka County, Minn.
Mr. Anderson grew up in Minnesota and moved to Ashland in 1938. In 1968, he moved to Klamath Falls, then settled in Medford in 1971.
On July 25, 1968, in Reno, he married Rosa Hawley, who survives.
Mr. Anderson owned independent grocery stores in Jacksonville, Central Point and Klamath Falls.
He enjoyed backgammon and lawn darts.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Clara Kennard, Sacramento, Calif.; three brothers, Victor, Arnold and George, all in Minnesota; a sister, Ethel Westlund, San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 10 siblings.

Rena L. Winton
The funeral for Rena L. Winton will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Perl Funeral Service-Siskiyou Chapel. Dorlan Woods will officiate. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Santa Monica, Calif.
Mrs. Winton, 71, of Prospect, died Thursday (July 23, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Newton, Iowa. She moved to California in 1939, and graduated from Santa Monica High School in February, 1946.
On March 24, 1939, in Santa Monica, she married Charles W. Winton. He died in 1958.
Mrs. Winton worked as a bank teller, and retired from Security Pacific Bank in 1977.
She was a member of the Moose lodge since 1957. She enjoyed camping and animals, especially her dog, Quigley.
Survivors include: a brother, Bobby Frazier, in Oregon; and sisters Carmean Finance and Shirlan Chapman, both in Oregon.
Curt Delfosse
Curt August Delfosse, 86, of Ashland, died Tuesday (July 21, 1998) at Ashland Community Hospital. A private service will be held.
Mr. Delfosse was born May 30, 1912, in Cologne, Germany.
On Feb. 12, 1955, in Argentina, he married Ana I. Hartenau, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 21 years ago from San Diego, Calif.
He earned a degree in engineering from the university in Stuttgart, Germany.
He was a race car driver for European car makers, including Porsche. He built and raced Grand Prix-type cars; he designed the international Formula 4 race car.
In Ashland, he owned a B.P. gas station.
His father's automobile factories built Rohr and Helios cars and also built Germany's first airplanes.
During World War II, Mr. Delfosse served in the German air force. He was a member of the International Federation of Automobiles and the Sports Car Club of America.
He also enjoyed designing boats.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a sister, Edita Vanderlyn, Arkansas.
Benjamin B. Anderson
Benjamin B. Anderson, 82, of Medford, died Thursday (July 23, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Siskiyou Chapel, Medford.
