Edward Burnham Jr.
The graveside service for Edward Burnham Jr. will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Burnham, 82, of Ashland, died Sunday (Aug. 2, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 22, 1915, in San Francisco, and moved to Carmel, Calif., as a child.
Mr. Burnham attended military school and joined the U.S. Navy at age 18. He served during World War II and the Korean War, and retired as a chief boatswain's mate in 1964.
On Dec. 8, 1942, in San Francisco, he married Frances Baily, who survives. They moved to Ashland in 1973.
Mr. Burnham was a member of the Medford Rose Society and the League of Women Voters. As a hobby he built Victorian dollhouses and donated proceeds from their sales to the League of Women Voters.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Elizabeth Ribot, San Francisco, and Margot Burnham, Laguna Beach, Calif.; a son, Michael, San Francisco; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Geri Woodward
Geraldene "Geri" Elva Woodward, 74, formerly of Central Point and Phoenix, died Saturday (July 29, 1998) in Falls Church, Va. She had recently moved to Falls Church from Arkansas to be near her sons.
A funeral was held Aug. 3 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Searcy, Ark. Interment was in the Henderson Cemetery in Pangburn, Ark.
She was born Geraldene Board on Sept. 27, 1923, in Des Arc, Ark.
In the 1970s, she was the librarian for several years at the White County Library in Pangburn. A bookkeeper for 30 years, she had worked for several firms and was self-employed before her retirement in 1984.
Mrs. Woodward lived in the Rogue Valley from 1979 to 1993, when she moved to Louisiana.
In 1984, she married Thomas G. Woodward, a longtime Phoenix resident, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Woodward was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Medford Ward and served as Relief Society officer, Sunday school teacher and seminary school teacher. In Ohio, she was president of the Lofton Henderson Marine Corps League Auxiliary in Lorain, and chief of the Lorain Chapter of Pythian Sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Nina Charlene Holcomb, Salt Lake City, Utah; two sons, James E. Smith, Vienna, Va., and Richard C. Smith, Alexandria, Va.; three sisters, Loleda Ryan, Letona and Smithfield, N.C., Patricia Sullivan, Searcy, Ark., and Reba Thompson, Brookhaven, Miss.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson. She was preceded in death by former husbands, Earl R. Smith and Tommy Lee McNeill; and a son, Tommy Lee McNeill Jr.

Mabel Updegraff Woelk
The graveside service for Mabel Updegraff Woelk will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the City View Cemetery, Salem.
Mrs. Woelk, 95, of Central Point, died Saturday (Aug. 1, 1998) at her home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Oregon Humane Society, 2910 Table Rock Road, Medford, OR 97501.
She was born Mabel Updegraff on July 28, 1903, in Salem.
Mrs. Woelk moved to Central Point three years ago from Salem to live with her son-in-law, Elmer "Bud" Hamilton.
She enjoyed serving her community.
Survivors include a grandson, Randall K. Hamilton, Medford; two granddaughters, Joy Ann Dixon, Medford, and Myra J. Morris, Gold Beach; 10 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty "Jean" Hamilton.

Pandora V. Dreyer
Pandora Victoria Dreyer, 45, formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Monday (Aug. 3, 1998) of cancer at her home in Portland. A private service is planned.
She was born Pandora Shutes on Feb. 2, 1953, in Burbank, Calif.
She graduated from Grant High School in California's San Fernando Valley.
In 1969, she moved to Oregon and later graduated from the Southern Oregon State College Nursing Program.
She was a registered nurse at Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital, Emanuel Hospital and the Multnomah County Jail.
Most recently, she was a nurse for five years at Community Health & Hospice in Longview, Wash., while living in Rainier, Wash.
She enjoyed arts and crafts.
Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Melissa Hughey and Cara Denyse Donnelly, both Portland; her mother, Rodna Shutes, Talent; and a grandchild.
Arrangements: Oregon Cremation Co., Portland.
Jerry Morningstar
Jerry Morningstar, 89, of Medford, died Sunday (Aug. 2, 1998) at the Medford Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. No service is planned. Interment will be in the Gotcher Cemetery, Williams.
He was born Nov. 6, 1908, in Drain, where he attended high school.
On Jan. 1, 1935, in Medford, he married Arleta Messinger, who survives.
Mr. Morningstar sailed on a steam ship for eight months.
He was a logger until 1928, then worked for California Oregon Power Co. (COPCO) and later Pacific Power and Light. Before his retirement in 1971, he was a chief dispatcher, a load dispatcher and a power superintendent in Yreka, Calif.
He moved to the Applegate Valley in 1971.
Mr. Morningstar was a member of the Medford First Christian Church. He was a Mason, serving as master of the Howard Lodge in 1951.
Survivors include his wife and a sister.

Neva C. Bieber
The funeral for Neva C. Bieber will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Conger-Morris Chapel, Medford. The Rev. Mark Cach of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City, Calif.
Mrs. Bieber, 84, of Phoenix, died Thursday (July 30, 1998) at her home.
She was born Neva C. Ramirez on Aug. 5, 1913, in Pasadena, Calif.
On Nov. 17, 1948, in Yuma, Ariz., she married Edward Bieber, who died in 1979.
Mrs. Bieber was a homemaker.
She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1984 from the Los Angeles area.
Mrs. Bieber was a member of the Catholic church. Her hobbies included reading, arts and crafts, sewing and sports.
Survivors include a daughter, Honey Tegler, Vancouver, Wash.; and a grandson. She was preceded in death by a son, Scott Thomas; a sister; and two brothers.

Josephine Agnes Johns
Mass will be celebrated for Josephine Agnes Johns at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of the River Catholic Community, Rogue River. The Rev. Gregory Moys will officiate.
Interment will follow at 11 a.m. in the Eagle Point National Cemetery. Members of Rogue River Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary will officiate.
Mrs. Johns, 72, of Rogue River, died Friday (July 31, 1998) at her home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the River Building Fund, 515 Broadway, Rogue River, OR 97537.
She was born Josephine Frymark on April 28, 1926, in Wausau, Wis.
On Oct. 19, 1946, in Wausau, she married Bruce R. Johns, who survives.
She moved to Covina, Calif., in 1954 from Wausau.
Mrs. Johns was an assembler for 20 years with Avon Products in Pasadena, Calif.
She came to Rogue River in 1984.
Mrs. Johns was a member of Our Lady of the River Catholic Community, where she was a past president of the women's club and active in the Rogue River VFW Auxiliary and the Eagles Lodge in Azusa, Calif.
She enjoyed fishing, traveling, sports, and her dogs Putsee and Sassy.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include four daughters, Kathleen Abel and Roberta Chavez, both Grants Pass, Pamela Torres, Eagle Point, and Dianne Gerdin, Lake Tahoe, Calif.; a sister, Virginia Matis, Wausau; a brother, Eugene Frymark, Hemet, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, Grants Pass.
Virginia `Tootie' Terranova
Virginia Celine "Tootie" Terranova, 76, of Talent, died Wednesday (July 29, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned.
She was born Virginia Hunt on Jan. 17, 1922, in Stayton.
On Oct. 9, 1943, in Fort Lewis, Wash., she married James Terranova, who survives.
Mrs. Terranova spent many of her younger years in Alaska. She returned to Alaska in 1948, living there until moving to the Rogue Valley in 1970.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and cooking.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a sister, Georgia Wetteland, Salem; and a granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert James.
