Olive Virginia Grosguth
The graveside service for Olive Virginia Grosguth will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Eagle Point National Cemetery. Pastor Jonathan Larson of Berea Mennonite Church, Atlanta, Ga., will officiate.
Mrs. Grosguth, 86, of Central Point, died Saturday (Aug. 8, 1998) at her son's home in Smyrna, Ga.
She was born Olive Fischer on March 10, 1912, in Chicago, Ill.
On April 6, 1940, in Chicago, she married Joseph Grosguth Jr., who died in 1995. They moved to the Rogue Valley 26 years ago from Downers Grove, Ill.
Mrs. Grosguth studied at the Parsons Art School of New York and the Art Institute of Chicago. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Northwestern University, Chicago.
She enjoyed needlepoint, doll miniatures, solitaire and gardening, especially roses and irises.
Survivors include a son, Geoffery J., Smyrna; a daughter, Joan V. Boone, Leavenworth, Wash.; a brother, Warren G. Fischer, St. Charles, Ill.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Grosguth and Lucille Hanson.

Sarah May Bergman
Sarah May Bergman, 79, of Medford, died Thursday (Aug. 6, 1998) at her home. No service is planned.
She was born Sarah May Neel on Nov. 29, 1918, in Holbrook, Neb.
Mrs. Bergman grew up and was educated in Holbrook, where she also taught school.
On July 3, 1948, in Reno, she married Ted I. Bergman, who died in 1991. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1983 from New York.
Mrs. Bergman was a day-care volunteer at South Medford High School.
She enjoyed gardening and playing the piano.
Survivors include a daughter, Penny Bergman, Central Point; a son, Ricky, Berkeley, Calif.; and a sister, Vera Strickland, Medford.

Marie Olga Leftwich
Marie Olga Leftwich, 81, of Medford, died Friday (Aug. 7, 1998) at her home. A private service is planned.
She was born Marie Berntsen on Nov. 1, 1916, in Galveston, Texas.
In 1938, in Junction City, Texas, she married Joseph Boening, who preceded her in death.
On June 7, 1975, in Canoga Park, Calif., she married Kenneth J. Leftwich, who died in 1996. They moved to Oregon in 1985 from California.
Mrs. Leftwich enjoyed sewing and embroidery.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Boening, Jacksonville, and Ed Boening, Medford; a sister, Eleanor Prino, in Texas; a brother, Ole Berntsen, in Texas; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Josie Lott; and a brother, Edward Berntsen.

Helen K. Wilkes
The memorial service for Helen K. Wilkes will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Medford Masonic Temple, 975 N. Phoenix Road. Private inurnment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Wilkes, 91, of Medford, died Sunday (Aug. 9, 1998) in Medford.
Memorial contributions may be made to any Masonic organization.
She was born Helen K. Dore on Dec. 7, 1906, in Langlade County, Wis.
Mrs. Wilkes attended the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh.
On Jan. 1, 1945, in Las Vegas, she married Gail Buffington, who died in 1963.
On Sept. 8, 1968, in Medford, she married Virgil R. Wilkes, who died in 1988.
Mrs. Wilkes moved to the Rogue Valley in 1949 from Utah.
She was a matron of Adarel Eastern Star, royal matron of the Order of Amaranth, high priestess of the Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem, and helped start the Rainbow Girls in Jacksonville.
Survivors include a son, Alan J. Appleton, Chatsworth, Calif.; a daughter, Lona G. Ward, Copper Center, Alaska; a stepson, Allen Wilkes, Medford; a stepdaughter, Peggy Johnson, Springfield; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Kenneth C. Fluck
Kenneth C. Fluck, 79, of Gold Hill, died Thursday (Aug. 6, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned.
He was born Jan. 3, 1919, in Bucks County, Pa.
On April 17, 1944, in Long Beach, Calif., he married Marie Chollet, who survives. They moved to Oregon in 1947 from California.
Mr. Fluck was a logger as well as a meat cutter and butcher, owning and operating a meat market.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Melinda A. Fluck, Gold Hill, and Robin R. Fluck, Eugene; and a brother, Carl Emerson, Natick, Mass. A sister, Ruth Culp, preceded him in death.

Vera T. Eriksen
Vera T. Eriksen, 81, of Rogue River, died Thursday (Aug. 6, 1998) at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. No service is planned.
She was born Vera Sielaff on Sept. 15, 1916, in Ravenna, Neb.
On Feb. 27, 1937, in Grant Island, Neb., she married George Eriksen, who survives.
Mrs. Eriksen was a final inspector for 13 years at the Avon production plant in Pasadena, Calif.
For 12 years, she lived on a 38-foot boat in Long Beach, Calif., before moving to Rogue River 18 years ago.
Mrs. Eriksen enjoyed acrylic and oil painting, sewing, RV traveling and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Sonya Gale, Rogue River; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements: Southern Oregon Cremation Society.
Andrew C. Glidden
A private memorial service will be held for Drew Glidden, 51, who died Thursday (Aug. 6, 1998) at his Talent residence.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Glidden was born Sept. 4, 1946, in St. Louis, Mo., to Sawyer and Dorothy Glidden. He came to the Rogue Valley 17 years ago from Batavia, N.Y. He worked as a registered nurse and conducted a private practice and workshops in alternative healing modalities.
Survivors include his wife, Jody Glidden of Talent; his parents of Batavia; three brothers, John and Jim of Batavia, and Charles of Fayetteville, N.C.; three stepsons, Randy Wimberg of Bozeman, Mont., Kurt Wimberg, of Jackson, Wyo., and Ted Wimberg, of Woodland, Calif.; and four step-grandchildren.

Nathaniel Burr Smidt
The memorial service for Nathaniel Burr Smidt will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lithia Park in Ashland.
Mr. Smidt, 41, of Medford, died Sunday (Aug. 2, 1998) at his home.
He was born Aug. 28, 1956, in Wilton, Conn.
He moved to the Rogue Valley six years ago from California.
Mr. Smidt was a graphic artist and ad creator for the Mail Tribune.
He was a member of the Medford Church of Religious Science and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his companion, Janet Gilbert, Medford; four children, Trevor, Lisa, Nina and Maia Smidt; five stepchildren, Ellena, Heidi, Micah, Matthew and Malachi Flood, all Medford; his father, Burr Smidt, Englewood, Fla.; his mother, Betty Smidt, Southbury, Conn.; a brother, Michael; and two sisters, Amy Blount and Jody Scher.

Louis Lawerence Rogge
Louis Lawerence Rogge, 72, of Medford, died Wednesday (Aug. 5, 1998) at his home. No service is planned.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
He was born Sept. 9, 1925, in San Jose, Calif.
Mr. Rogge moved to Oregon 25 years ago from San Jose.
In 1982, in Medford, he married Ethel Mary Belanger, who died in 1988.
Mr. Rogge was a truck driver for Roadway Co. until his retirement.
During World War II, he served as a master sergeant in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Rogge was a member of the Teamsters Union.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie VanDerPuil and Christine Acosta; a son, William Needham; and three grandchildren.
