Albert E. Zenonian
The graveside service for Albert E. Zenonian will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Eagle Point National Cemetery. Minister Jeff Prosise of the Northside Church of Christ, Grants Pass, will officiate.
Mr. Zenonian, 76, of Talent, died Saturday (Aug. 15, 1998) in Winnemucca, Nev.
He was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Kenwood, Colo.
On May 11, 1946, in Las Vegas, he married Eva Mae Addington, who died in December 1996. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1968 from Dunsmuir, Calif.
Mr. Zenonian worked in communications for 37 years with Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1983.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Zenonian enjoyed bridge, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty DeCracker, Elko, Nev.; three brothers, William Gateley, Grants Pass, and John Gateley and David Gateley, both Florence; a sister, Buelah Gateley, Dove Creek, Colo.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Leonard.
Friends may pay their respects from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, 550 Business Park Drive, Medford.
Audrey Clarke Edens
The memorial celebration for Audrey Garnett Clarke Edens will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at her home, 495 Jennifer, Ashland. Another celebration will be held Aug. 29 in Ramona, Calif., where her ashes will be commingled with her husband's and scattered over the hills.
Mrs. Edens, 78, of Ashland and Bandon, died Friday (Aug. 14, 1998) at her home in Bandon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the environmental medicine or alternative healing organization of choice.
She was born Audrey Clarke on March 27, 1920, in Sanford, N.C. Her mother died when she was 4; her father when she was 15. Raised by her grandmother until the age of 8, she then entered Howard Memorial School in Danville, Va., where she grew up.
On July 23, 1938, she married Cecil Frederick Edens. They moved to Southern California in 1940, living in the Los Angeles and Long Beach areas for 13 years before moving to Ramona.
The family owned and operated Edens' Heavenly Hamburger Drive-In from 1955 to 1964. She then was a real estate broker for 14 years operating Edens' Real Estate.
In 1978, she and her husband moved to Florence, where they lived on the Siuslaw River until his death in 1987.
Mrs. Edens was a member of Unity. She traveled extensively through the United States and also visited Europe, the Soviet Union, the Middle East, Canada and Mexico.
On her 72nd birthday, she climbed to the top of Grizzly Peak near Ashland.
Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, reading and storytelling.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Lura Doubiago, Ashland, and Donna Colleen Eden, Talent; a son, Clark Frederick Edens, Modesto, Calif.; a sister, Mozelle Strickland, Green Bay, Wis.; a brother, Lawrence Clarke, Clearwater, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Dorothy K. Barnes
Dorothy K. Barnes, 95, formerly of Medford, died Sunday (Aug. 9, 1998) in Canby, Calif., where she was living. A memorial service was held Aug. 17 in Memory Gardens Chapel, Medford.

She was born Dorothy K. Hatch on Nov. 7, 1902, in Dodge City, Kan.
Mrs. Barnes enjoyed telling stories about growing up in the Old West. She had known the Charles Lindbergh family and at one time a "nice family" living down the street turned out to be Ma Barker and her boys.
On March 26, 1927, in Dodge City, she married Milo Glen Barnes, who died in 1984. After the birth of their daughter they moved to Medford in 1941.
Mrs. Barnes was a silk finisher for more than 20 years with Dumas Dry Cleaning. She retired to a life of fishing and repairing wayward dolls she picked up at yard sales.
In 1987, she moved to Porterville, Calif., to be with her daughter. They moved to Modoc County, Calif., in 1991, where Mrs. Barnes made her home in Canby.
Survivors include a daughter, Jerre Carter, Alturas, Calif., a sister, Teene Taylor, Medford; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Marie Olga Leftwich
The graveside service for Marie Olga Leftwich will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Jacksonville Cemetery. Pastor Ron Swanson of Jacksonville will officiate.
Mrs. Leftwich, 81, of Medford, died Friday (Aug. 7, 1998) at her home.

James Leon Askew
James Leon Askew, 85, of Medford, died Monday (Aug. 17, 1998) at his home. A private service will be held Wednesday. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
He was born June 19, 1913, in Chipley, Ga.
On March 13, 1946, in Medford, he married Marion C. Borg, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1970 from the San Francisco Bay area.
Mr. Askew played semi-pro baseball in the Carolina leagues before World War II. In 1942, he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Monrovia, taking part in nine invasions in the South Pacific and Africa.
He was a civil service supervisor in the shipping and receiving department at a naval supply center in Oakland, Calif., until his retirement in 1970.
Mr. Askew was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball for eight years in Medford and was on several bowling teams.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Barbara Cabral, White City; four sons, James L. Jr., Newark, Calif., John, San Jose, Calif., Larry, Redding, Calif., and Terry, Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Fred D. Jr., Folkston, Ga., and Gene Paul, Orlando; two sisters, Christine Askew, Sylvester, Ga., and Mable Johnson, Georgiana, Ala.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine E. Askew.

Norman Donald Nelson
Norman Donald Nelson, 78, of Medford, died Friday (Aug. 14, 1998) at his home. A private service is planned. Inurnment will be in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.

He was born Oct. 8, 1919, in Minot, N.D.
On April 2, 1946, in Medford, he married Grace E. Meadows, who survives.
He moved to the Rogue Valley 52 years ago from Minot.
Mr. Nelson was captain of the Medford Fire Department, retiring in 1976. He was the department's first fire trainer and first aid instructor.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Nelson enjoyed square dancing, camping, hunting and reading.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four daughters, Toni Clark, Medford, Deanna Cantrall, Lebanon, Kathy Wolfe, Stevens Point, Wis., and Sharon Nelson, Cold Springs, Colo.; a son, Kenneth, in Montana; two brothers, Fred, Phoenix, and John, Sams Valley; a sister, Donna Rae Meyers, Aumsville; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. A brother, Kenneth, preceded him in death.

Laney Bower Starks
The memorial service for Laney Marie Gladys Bower Starks will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Hope Christian Church, Central Point. Minister Darold Hutsell will officiate. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Starks, 87, of Central Point, died Sunday (Aug. 9, 1998) at her home.
She was born Laney Bower on May 18, 1911, in Gooding, Idaho.
On Feb. 17, 1934, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, she married Larry F. Starks, who died in 1994. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1952 from the John Day/Canyon City area.
Mrs. Starks was a member of Hope Christian Church, a 58-year member and past noble grand of the Mount Pitt Rebekah Lodge, an adopted grandmother in the Central Point F.L. Club No. 5A, and a member of the Southern Oregon Society of Artists and Southern Oregon Photographic Association.
She enjoyed painting, hunting, fishing and gardening. She learned to water ski at age 60.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances M. Johnson, Central Point; a son, Lelan E., Central Point; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, a half-brother, and a grandson.

Jack E. Skelton
No services will be held for Jack E. Skelton.
Mr. Skelton, 77, of Shady Cove, died Friday (Aug. 14, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Rogue Valley Medical Center Hospice, 2825 Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504.
He was born June 28, 1923 in Norman, Okla. During World War II, he served on a submarine in the U.S. Navy. He moved to Oregon in 1943 and was a logger.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and telling jokes.
Survivors include a companion, Sharon Kemp, Shady Cove; three daughters, Jaci Norris, Central Point, Jean Franks, White City, and Joan Stuhr, Lincoln City; two sons, David Spicer, Caldwell, Idaho and Lee Skelton, Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Mary Ulett, Medford; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Skelton.

Kristin Yvonne Stovern
The funeral for Kristin Yvonne Stovern will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Conger-Morris Chapel, Medford.
Kristin, 17, of Medford, died Thursday (Aug. 13, 1998) in Ruch.
She was born Jan. 5, 1981, in Roseburg, and moved with her family to the Rogue Valley in 1983.
Kristin was a student at North Medford High School, where she had hoped to play football in her senior year.
She enjoyed horses, writing poetry, drawing and artwork.
Survivors include her father, Randy Stovern, Medford; her mother, Vicky Stovern; two brothers, Jared and Kyle; and her grandparents, Joan Stovern, Ontario, and Bobbie and Duane Johnson, Sacramento, Calif.
