Elizabeth May DeGraff
The funeral for Elizabeth May DeGraff will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in Siskiyou Chapel, Medford. Interment will be in the Eastwood IOOF Cemetery, Medford.
Mrs. DeGraff, 93, of Medford, died Tuesday (Sept. 1, 1998) at the Linda Vista Care Center, Ashland.
She was born Elizabeth Sutton on March 10, 1905, in Mount Washington, Mo.
Mrs. DeGraff moved to the Rogue Valley in 1932 from El Paso, Texas.
She worked in the Timber Products box factory for 12 years before retiring.
Mrs. DeGraff enjoyed her pets, crocheting, tatting and hunting morel mushrooms.
Survivors include a daughter, Nina Turpin, Phoenix; two sons, Lawrence W. Anderson, Medford, and Carl Eugene Anderson, Eagle Point; a brother, Albert N. Sutton, in Nebraska; two sisters, Lillian F. Belcher, Cottage Grove, and Amy A. Belcher, Lakeside; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters, and three grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Siskiyou Chapel.

Betty Jane Meller
The funeral for Betty Jane Meller will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Chapel, Medford. The Rev. Jerry Gilmar of the Veterans Affairs Domiciliary, White City, will officiate. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Meller, 76, of Medford, died Sunday (Aug. 30, 1998) of cancer at her home.

She was born Betty Armstrong on Sept. 13, 1921, in Alameda, Calif.
On June 29, 1940, in Alameda, she married Robert L. Meller, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Meller was a nurse at Harborview Hospital in Valdez, Alaska, until 1972. She then moved to Medford, where she was a nurse at Rogue Valley Medical Center for 13 years, retiring in 1985.
Mrs. Meller was a Providence Guild volunteer, a member of Beta Sigma Phi, which named her 1998 Woman of the Year, and active in the Medford Eagles Auxiliary, the Betty Club, TOPPS, and a pinochle club. She also sang in the choir at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed attending monthly Alaska Club picnics.
She fulfilled a lifelong goal of visiting Israel and walking in the steps of Jesus, floating in the Dead Sea, being baptized in the Jordan River and riding a camel.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Wrobel, Central Point, and Kathleen Kelly, Keizer; a son, Michael, Valdez; a brother, Robert Armstrong, Hayward, Calif.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth James Meller; a brother, John James; and four sisters, Alice Armstrong, Ruth Armstrong, Evelyn Haynes and Grace Schmitt.

John Wesley Bowling
The memorial service for John Wesley Bowling will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Hillcrest Chapel, Medford. Dale Adams of the First Baptist Church of Phoenix will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Bowling, 81, of Medford, died Monday (Aug. 31, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born July 31, 1917, in Stilwell, Okla.
On Oct. 23, 1936, in Stilwell, he married Thelma McConnell, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1954 from Elk City, Okla.
Mr. Bowling worked for United Grocers until retiring in 1971.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Good Sams Club, and enjoyed fishing and camping.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Billy Gene and Donald William, both Medford; a brother, Clayton, Tahlequah, Okla.; three sisters, Pat Justice, Salem, Lucille Renninger, Independence, and Ruth Clark, Fresno, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

Warren Joseph Clayton
Warren Joseph Clayton, 25, formerly of Medford, died Saturday (Aug. 29, 1998) in Venice, Calif. His home was in Long Beach, Calif. No service is planned.
He was born Aug. 11, 1973, in Mount Shasta, Calif.
Mr. Clayton lived in Medford from 1975 to 1985, when he moved to Long Beach.
In Medford, he attended Griffin Creek Elementary School and McLoughlin Junior High School.
Survivors include his mother, Jacqueline Clayton, Medford; his father, John W. Clayton, Sultan, Wash.; his stepfather, Josie R. Clayton, Medford; four brothers, Brandon, Ryan and Quentin, all Medford, and Calvin, Seattle; and his grandmother, Bertha Clayton, Eagle Point.

Janice Warr Zeis
The graveside service for Janice Warr Zeis will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. David Close of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Medford, will officiate.
Mrs. Zeis, 95, of Medford, died Thursday (Aug. 27, 1998) in Medford.

She was born Janice Warr on June 24, 1903, in Brook, Ind., where she was raised.
On June 30, 1929, in Brook, she married Donald M. Zeis, who died in 1991.
Mrs. Zeis received a degree in music education from DePauw University, Greencastle, Ind., in 1927.
She taught music in Noblesville, Ind., before moving to the Rogue Valley during World War II to join her husband. He was serving with the U.S. Army at Camp White. She taught music in the Medford schools.
In 1948, they built a home in Medford, where they retired in 1963.
Mrs. Zeis traveled extensively with her husband, a professor of military science for ROTC programs.
She was a member of the Rogue Valley Knife and Fork Club, Southern Oregon Historical Society and a local antique club. She also was active in the Medford YMCA seniors program.
Survivors include a daughter, Priscilla Garrett, Denver, Colo.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Siskiyou Chapel, Medford.

Polly Jay LeFave
The memorial service for Polly Jay LeFave will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Memory Gardens Chapel, Medford. Pastor Rick Booye of Trail Christian Fellowship will officiate.
Mrs. LeFave, 55, of Medford, died Aug. 22, 1998, at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born Polly Garside on June 16, 1943, in Torrance, Calif.
She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1979 from Southern California.

Nonie Harriet Matthews
Nonie Harriet Matthews, 104, of Medford, died Friday (Aug. 28, 1998) in Medford. Private interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, San Diego, Calif.

She was born Nonie Wager on April 15, 1895, in Wallkill, N.Y.
Mrs. Matthews moved to the Rogue Valley in 1950 after traveling extensively.
She was a member of the Weatonka Council No. 20, Pocahontas degree, Redmen Lodge, Sojourners Club and Job's Daughters.
Survivors include two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl; and a daughter.

Minnie `Jackie' Hart
Minnie "Jackie" Mae Hart, 85, of Medford, died Friday (Aug. 28, 1998) at Royal Oaks Retirement Center in Medford. No service is planned.
She was born Minnie Mae Lee on Sept. 21, 1912, in Forest, La.
On Nov. 19, 1962, in Las Vegas, Nev., she married Charles L. Hart, who died in February 1998.
Mrs. Hart was a member of the Redwood Christian Church in Grants Pass.
Survivors include a daughter, Darlene D. Madden, Jacksonville; a stepdaughter, Sharon Matthewson, in California; a sister, Ercil L. Harper, Oak Grove, La.; and a brother, Cletus A. Lee, De Land, Fla.
