Michael Alan Gilligan
The memorial service for Michael Alan Gilligan will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Erin Gilligan, 1940 Melody Lane, Medford.
Mr. Gilligan, 45, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday (Sept. 9) at his home.
Mr. Gilligan was born Aug. 19, 1953, in Centralia, Wash., where he lived until he moved to the Rogue Valley in 1971.
He worked at Jackson County Mental Health for 16 years and served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a track star at Centralia High School and enjoyed golfing. He was a member of the YMCA.
Survivors include daughter, Erin, and a son, Saul Harper, both of Medford; a grandson, Michael Gilligan; and a companion, Joan Herrington.
Other survivors include his mother, Bea Fisher, Centralia; two brothers, Brian King, Centralia, and Ken Powell, Gig Harbor, Wash.; and two sisters, Jackie Gilligan, and Debra Lay, both of Centralia.

George F. Valentine
George F. Valentine, 92, of Medford, died Monday (Sept. 7, 1998) at his home. No service is planned.

Mr. Valentine was born March 4, 1906, in Buffalo, N.Y. On May 20, 1933, in Centuria, Wisc., he married Alice Flesche, who died in 1997. The couple moved to the Rogue Valley in 1975.
Mr. Valentine was a salesman for Lyons Metals Products in Chicago from 1950 until his retirement in 1975. As a young man, he was captain of the Hamline University hockey team. He was also was a member of the Methodist Church in Davenport, Iowa.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and served as a fishing guide in Minnesota. Survivors include two sons, Clark, of Lake Forrest, Calif., and Joe, of Bettendorf, Iowa; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Raymond.
Warren H. Powers
The funeral for Warren Hickman Powers will be at noon today at Community Bible Church in Butte Falls. Pastor John Adams will officiate.
Mr. Powers, 88, of Eagle Point, died Thursday (Sept. 10, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born July 18, 1910 in Parma, Idaho. On April 4, 1971, in Chula Vista, Calif., he married Ardena Ullom, who survives. The couple moved to Oregon in 1981.
Mr. Powers was a self-employed businessman who owned and operated several businesses, including an equipment rental yard, a charter fishing fleet, a boatyard and a commercial fishing boat.
In his youth, he enjoyed boxing and was a Golden Gloves fighter. He was commodore of the Coronado Yacht Club.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four daughters, Heather Powers, San Francisco, Alison Powers, Minneapolis, Paula Clements, Redding, Calif., and Robin Powers, Willits, Calif; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Craig Powers.

Daniel J. Farrell III
The funeral Mass for Daniel Joseph Farrell III will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, Ashland. The Rev. Raymond Finnerty will officiate. Interment will be at Stearns Cemetery, Talent.
Mr. Farrell, 70, of Ashland, died Thursday (Sept. 10, 1998) at Ashland Community Hospital.

Mr. Farrell was born Jan. 20, 1928 in St. Louis, Mo. to Josephine and Daniel Joseph Farrell Jr. He was raised in Omaha, Neb. He attended graduate school and traveled extensively as an overseas teacher with the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Medford in 1972, where he was dean of students and a teacher at Medford Senior High School.
Mr. Farrell was a member of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, Amnesty International, the Progressive Forum and the American Contract Bridge Club.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Joseph Farrell IV of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Anne E. Farrell of San Francisco, Calif; his children's mother, Sib Farrell of Ashland; and a brother, Robert E. Farrell of Kenilworth, Ill.

Leroy Fischbeck
The memorial service for Leroy J. Fischbeck will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
Mr. Fischbeck, 61, of Ashland, died Thursday (Sept. 3, 1998) at Linda Vista Care Center in Ashland.
He was born Sept. 25, 1937 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Gertrude and Frank Fischbeck.
Survivors include three brothers, Frank Fischbeck of Medford, Lawrence Fischbeck of Central Point and Warren Gesner of Panorama City, Calif.

Stella Florence Malsed
Stella Florence Malsed, 91, of Ashland, died Sunday (Sept. 6, 1998) at Linda Vista Care Center. A private service is planned.
She was born Stella Sare on Jan. 13, 1907, in Pipestone, Minn., and raised in Bradley, S.D.
She attended the University of Minnesota.
On Feb. 25, 1927, in St. Paul, Minn., she married Red Malsed, who died in 1979.
After moving to Southern California, she was an accountant for several years. Later she graduated from beauty school and in 1961 opened the Cut and Curl beauty shop in Covina, Calif.
Mrs. Malsed moved to Ashland in 1970.
She enjoyed sewing and walking.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat Warner, Ashland; a son, Joe, Blue Jay, Calif.; a sister, Zola Murray, Gardnerville, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, six brothers and two sisters.

Frank Finchum
Frank James Finchum, 80, of Butte Falls, died Thursday (Sept. 10, 1998) in his home. A private service will be held.
Mr. Finchum was born Oct. 10, 1917, in Dandridge, Tenn.
On March 4, 1948, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, he married Bonnie Nelson, who survives.
Mr. Finchum lived in the community for 25 years, moving from Leavenworth, Wash.
He was a tractor operator for Medford Corp., and worked for Rice Construction and Campbell Construction in Alaska. He built logging roads for 50 years until retiring in 1982.
He served in the Army in World War II, and was a prisoner of war in Germany for seven months.
He enjoyed gardening, traveling and casino gambling.
Survivors include: daughters Barbara Marchini, Stockton, Calif., and Sherri Ellis, Butte Falls; sons Dale, Sams Valley, Don, Butte Falls, Mack, Gardnerville, Nev., and Kelly, Silver Springs, Nev.; a brother, Ray, Butte Falls; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Nelson, brothers Luther and Jess, and a sister, Naomi Nelson.

Barbara Wilkinson
The funeral for Barbara Wilkinson will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Central Valley Chapel, Central Point. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Wilkinson, 69, of Phoenix, died Tuesday (Sept. 8, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford.
She was born Barbara Hess on Feb. 27, 1929, in North Bend.
On Dec. 20, 1983, in Grants Pass, she married Wade Wilkinson, who survives.
She lived in Grants Pass for 20 years. She was a homemaker who enjoyed playing the keyboard, sketching and writing poetry.
Survivors include sons Steve Fisher, Grants Pass, and Craig Severence and Michael and Tommy Helderman, all of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a daughter, Barbara Slobodink, Haywood, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Monday at the Central Valley Chapel.

Edward Benjamin Corr
Edward Benjamin Corr, 75, of Central Point, died Tuesday (Sept. 8, 1998) at his home. No service is planned. Interment will be in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 20, 1923, in Omaha, Neb.
He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1986 from Arleta, Calif.
Mr. Corr was a truck driver in the food industry.
A veteran of the U.S. Army and Air Force, he served in World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include five sons, Mike, Omaha, Ben, Rohnert Park, Calif., Glen, Pacoima, Calif., and David, Northridge, Calif.; a daughter, Carla Corr, Absecon, N.J.; a brother, Jack, Omaha; two sisters, Betty, in Minnesota, and Joanne Gracey, De Soto, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
