Kathy Scott
The memorial service for Kathallee Anne Scott will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Emmanuel Baptist Church, Brookings. Another service will be held in San Diego, Calif.
Mrs. Scott, 53, formerly of Central Point, died Sept. 11, 1998, of cancer at San Diego Hospice Center.

She was born Kathallee Appelgate on July 22, 1945, in Salem.
She attended school in Central Point from seventh grade until graduating from Crater High School in 1963.
She moved to San Diego after marrying Mike Nolta in April 1964. They were later divorced.
On Dec. 22, 1976, she married Rex Don "Scotty" Scott, who survives.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Michael Nolta, Vance "Chip" Nolta and Riley Scott, all San Diego; a daughter, Autymn Scott, San Diego; her mother, Cleonna Appelgate, Brookings; a brother, Ralph, San Diego; a sister, Eddie Olson, Tangent; and two grandchildren.

Margrett R. Sheppard
The funeral for Margrett Ruth Sheppard will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Memory Gardens Chapel, Medford. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Sheppard, 88, formerly of Central Point, died Sunday (Sept. 20, 1998) at her home.
She was born Margrett Hunter on April 25, 1910, in Cedar City, Utah.
Mrs. Sheppard lived in the Rogue Valley from 1945 to 1989. She moved to Klamath Falls three years ago.
She was a pear packer and basket weaver at Bear Creek Corp. for many years. She also was a housekeeper for Dr. Bonnar Dysart for several years.
Mrs. Sheppard was a member of the Church of Christ of Latter-day Saints, Central Point Ward and later Klamath Falls 3rd and 4th Wards.
Survivors include a daughter, Nedra Genaw, Gold Hill; a son, Ralph H. Fortune, Klamath Falls; a sister, May Anderson, Cedar City, Utah; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Earl W. Fortune and Oscar A. Sheppard; five brothers; three sisters; and a grandson.
Friends may pay their respects from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.
Ruth A. Emerson
The graveside service for Ruth Aylene Emerson will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford. Pastor John Braund of the Phoenix First Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Mrs. Emerson, 75, formerly of Talent, died Saturday (Sept. 19, 1998) at the Cascade Park Care Center in Vancouver, Wash.
She was born Ruth Edson on June 3, 1923, in Rocky, Okla.
In March 1952, she married Walter A. Emerson, who died in 1969.
Mrs. Emerson moved to Talent in 1956. She owned and operated the Talent Swap Shop from 1960 to 1989. In 1989 she retired and moved to Vancouver.
Mrs. Emerson was a member of Alpha Chapter No. 1, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Sue Handschug, Vancouver; and two grandchildren. A brother preceded her in death.

Louise Margaret Martin
Louise Margaret Martin, 86, of Eagle Point, died Thursday (Sept. 17, 1998) at her home. Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Shady Cove. The Rev. W. McHugh officiated.
She was born Louise Ehmke on Sept. 7, 1912, in Greeley, Kan.
On Feb. 12, 1942, in Los Angeles, she married George F. Martin.
Mrs. Martin was a registered surgical nurse. Before moving to the Rogue Valley in 1953, she was night superintendent of Washington Hospital in Culver City, Calif. She worked at many hospitals including Rogue Valley Medical Center and Providence Medford Medical Center and was a nurse for Dr. Ferguson's clinic in Shady Cove. She was a private duty nurse before retiring in 1974.
Mrs. Martin enjoyed fishing, huckleberry and mushroom hunting, gardening and knitting.
Survivors include a daughter, LouAnna Lacy, Eagle Point; a son, Michael, Eagle Point; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Fred; a sister; and three brothers.

Virginia Ann Bond
The memorial service for Virginia Ann Bond will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hillcrest Chapel, Medford. Donald Atterberry will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Bond, 54, of Grants Pass, died Saturday (Sept. 19, 1998) at her home.

She was born Virginia McAlister on Nov. 1, 1943, in Brush, Colo.
On July 18, 1991, in Reno, she married Kenneth Bond, who survives.
Mrs. Bond graduated from Butte Falls High School.
She enjoyed charity and volunteer work.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Connie Hornbaker and Cheryl Atterberry, both Eagle Point; a stepchild, Kenwyn Bond, Grants Pass; four sisters, Linda Bedell, Eagle Point, Darlene Schram, Eugene, Debbie McCarrol, Newberg, and Carol McAlister, Reno; a brother, Leonard Hainz, Lebanon; and 14 grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.
Ulrich C. Keener
The funeral for Ulrich C. Keener will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Siskiyou Chapel, Medford. Pastor Lance Loveland of the Medford Assembly of God will officiate. Private interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mr. Keener, 85, of Medford, died Saturday (Sept. 19, 1998) at his home.

He was born March 2, 1913, in Siloam Springs, Mo.
He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1936.
As a young man, Mr. Keener worked on ranches.
He was a sales manager for an insurance company and appliance department manager at Montgomery Ward in Medford. Later he was sales manager of the Home Appliance Store in Medford, where he eventually became a partner and renamed it the Bargain Store. The business was sold in 1981.
Mr. Keener sold residents of Colestin, Calif., their first television sets.
He enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing.
Survivors include a son, Conrad, Medford; a daughter, Brenda Nored, Bakersfield, Calif.; a brother, Don Edward, Medford; a sister, Ruby Twedell, Medford; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Darryl and Elsa Keener; and five sisters, Etta Richardson, Ada Caldwell, Dorothy Keener, Beatrice Gleaves and Evelyn Twedell.

Michael Hargis
Mass will be celebrated fro Michael Hargis at 3 p.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford. The Rev. Ray Elam will officiate.
Mr. Hargis, 32, of Medford, died Friday (Sept. 18, 1998) at his home.

He was born June 26, 1966, in Central Point.
Mr. Hargis lived in the Rogue Valley for 20 years, in McMinnville for two years and spent 10 years in Colorado.
He loved all kinds of animals and enjoyed camping, fishing, building model cars and airplanes, and crafts.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Daniel and Sharen Hargis, Eagle Point; his mother and stepfather, Joanne and Gar Speer, Eagle Point; two sisters, Kathy Hargis, Eagle Point and Michelle Mattingley, Aurora, Colo.; a brother, Lance Seymour, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and grandmother, Catherine White, Walla Walla, Wash.

Raymond Frank Culver
Raymond Frank Culver, 68, of Medford, died Sunday (Sept. 20, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned.

He was born Oct. 21, 1929, in Bandon.
In 1950, he married Mary E. Kay, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Culver graduated from Oregon State University in 1951 with a degree in fish and game management.
On Oct. 21, 1983, in Lake Tahoe, he married Shirley Sheffield Moore, who survives.
During a 33-year career with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, he was superintendent of Rock Creek and Oak Springs Fish Hatcheries and assisted in the planning of Cole M. Rivers Hatchery, where he was superintendent until retiring in 1984.
Mr. Culver was a member of the Shady Cove Cascade Masonic Lodge. An avid RVer, he and his wife traveled the U.S. and spent time with his family in Alabama every spring. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and carving birds.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Ken, Medford, and Jim, Coalinga, Calif.; a stepson, Mike Sheffield, Medford; two stepdaughters, Karen Smith, Bend, and Kathy Moore, Summerdale, Ala.; a brother, Roger, Bandon; and six grandchildren.
