Ryan Joseph Fidura

The funeral for Ryan Joseph Fidura will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tuell-McKee Funeral Home, 2215 Sixth Ave., Tacoma, Wash. Interment will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Trail Cemetery.

Mr. Fidura, 19, of Puyallup, Wash., died Thursday (Sept. 24, 1998) in an automobile accident in Tacoma.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bids for Kids, c/o Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, 317 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Tacoma, WA 98405, or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607-1460.

He was born in Medford on Aug. 3, 1979, and attended Bates Technical School.

Survivors include his father, Alexander J., and mother, Debra L., both of Puyallup; and two brothers, Jacob, Vancouver, Wash., and Christopher, Puyallup.

Friends may pay their respects today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Tuell-McKee Funeral Home.

Carol Lynn Miller

Carol Lynn Miller, 53, of Williams, died Friday (Sept. 25, 1998) at her home. At her request, no service will be held.

She was born Oct. 4, 1944, in San Bernardino, Calif., a daughter of John and Sybil Russell.

On Dec. 5, 1965, in Reno, Nev., she married Rodger Miller, who survives.

She worked as an office manager in a dental office.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Sandee Ferranato, Jacksonville.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Carol Marie Pryse

Carole Marie Pryse, 50, of Merlin, died Saturday (Sept. 19, 1998) at her home. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation, Cancer Center, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Carol Marie Griffin on Sept. 20, 1947, in Pendleton.

On Jan. 21, 1974, in Summerville, she married Jay Pryse, who survives.

She moved to Grants Pass in 1987 from Summerville.

Mrs. Pryse was office manager for Dr. David Willing in Grants Pass.

She enjoyed yard work.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Sam, Condon; a daughter, Shelley McGuire, Merlin; a brother, Ed Griffin, in Washington; two sisters, Vickie Griffin and Nancy Griffin, both in Washington; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Marie Griffin; and two brothers, Joe and Jim Griffin.

Arrangements: Grants Pass Funeral Alternatives.

Gerhard Karl Kelz

Gerhard Karl Kelz, 77, of Medford, died Saturday (Sept. 19, 1998) at his home. A private service is planned.

He was born Jan. 10, 1921, in Saxony, Germany.

Mr. Kelz was a schoolteacher. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1989 from Temple City, Calif.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret, whom he married Sept. 22, 1943, in London, Conn.; four children; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Steven D. Heffner

The funeral for Steven D. Heffner will be at 10 a.m. today in Hillcrest Chapel, Medford. The Rev. Bob Larson will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Heffner, 44, of Medford, died Wednesday (Sept. 16, 1998) in Medford.

He was born May 12, 1954, in Medford, a son of Ralph and Vera Beal Heffner.

Mr. Heffner graduated from Phoenix High School in 1973.

He owned Hef's Burger Bar in Medford for 10 years.

Mr. Heffner enjoyed basketball and was a member of the Stock Car Racing Association.

Survivors include his companion, Jackie Cowden, Medford; a daughter, Chelsie Rose Heffner, Medford; a brother, Dwight, Central Point; and two sisters, Rozanna Mulhollen, Medford, and Sharon Robertson, White City.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Wayne Taylor

The funeral for Wayne Taylor will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Hillcrest Chapel, Medford. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Taylor, 85, of Eagle Point, died Friday (Sept. 19, 1998) in Medford.

He was born Feb. 5, 1913, in Knife River, Minn.

On Jan. 11, 1967, in Carson City, Nev., he married Florence Werner, who survives.

Mr. Taylor moved to the Rogue Valley in 1962 from Folsom, Calif.

He was a rancher in Northern California and Southern Oregon.

After retiring in 1967, he enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife.

Mr. Taylor also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Bettie Strickland, Prospect; a sister, Margaret Field, Carmichael, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a wife and a son.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Gladys Sloan Knight

The memorial service for Gladys Sloan Knight will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Phoenix First Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

Mrs. Knight, 97, formerly of Phoenix, died Sept. 6, 1998, in a Portland care center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Phoenix First Presbyterian Church, Memorial Fund, 121 W. Second St., Phoenix, OR 97535.

She was born Gladys Critchlow on Sept. 1, 1901, in Wetmore, Kan.

Mrs. Knight was a graduate of Wetmore High School and Southern Oregon College.

She taught elementary school in Kansas and in one-room rural schools in Oregon for 40 years, teaching most of those years in Phoenix. She retired in 1963.

In 1921, in Halstead, Kan., she married Delno Sloan, who died in 1974.

She married Clyde Knight in 1980 in Eugene. Mr. Knight died in 1996.

Mrs. Knight moved to Portland two years ago.

She was a member of the Phoenix First Presbyterian Church and Delta Kappa Gamma.

Survivors include two sons, Tom J. Sloan, Pacific City, and Weldon R. Sloan, Wilsonville; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Ross Hollywood Chapel, Portland.

Glade M. Arnoldsen

The funeral for Glade M. Arnoldsen will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Oroville, Calif. Simms Lowry will officiate. Interment will be in Bangor Cemetery in Bangor, Calif.

Mr. Arnoldsen, 63, of Shady Cove, died Wednesday (Sept. 16, 1998) in Medford.

He was born June 8, 1935, in Moroni, Utah.

He graduated from Moroni High School and attended Telegraphers School in Pueblo, Colo.

As a teenager, he worked with his father in the building and decorating trades and at the Moroni turkey plant.

He began a career as a telegrapher for Union Pacific Railroad in 1953 in Nephi, Utah. Later he was promoted to train dispatcher in Las Vegas. In 1978 he retired because of ill health.

Mr. Arnoldsen also was a licensed stockbroker, insurance agent and income tax preparer, a cattle rancher and grower of wheat and barley.

On June 24, 1972, in Carson City, he married Kathleen F. Phelan, who survives. They lived in Bangor, Calif., for 20 years before moving to Shady Cove in 1994.

Mr. Arnoldsen was a member of Wyandotte Grange, the Oroville Elks Lodge, and was an Eagles worthy president. He enjoyed playing the baritone and piano, singing, fishing and camping.

He served in the Army Reserves.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four daughters, Pamela Bernard, Tarzana, Calif., and Victoria Knecht, Sandra Larsen and Lisa Boyd, all Chino Hills, Calif.; his father, J. Milton, Orem, Utah; two sisters, Shauna Randall, Farmington, Utah, and Betty Openshaw, West Valley City, Utah; and 14 grandchildren. A brother, Jacob O., preceded him in death.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.
