Frank H. Taylor
Frank H. Taylor, 81, of Ashland, died Monday (Sept. 28, 1998) at the Skylark Assisted Living Center in Ashland. No service is planned.
He was born Nov. 17, 1916, in Winner, S.D., and moved to Medford in 1939.
On March 17, 1947, in Medford, he married Bette Jane Borland, who survives.
Mr. Taylor joined the National Guard in Redding, Calif. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he was inducted into the U.S. Army as an engineer, serving during most of World War II in Europe.
Mr. Taylor helped build Shasta Dam in California.
He was an audiovisual supervisor for the Medford School District and retired from the Jackson County Educational Service District in 1979.
Mr. Taylor enjoyed traveling and spent winters in Indio, Calif., and Yuma, Ariz.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Nancy Olson, Medford, and Kathy Fedor, Sacramento, Calif.; a son, Gene, Medford; a sister, Renamae Johnson, Independence; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Arthur Willard Caswell
The cryptside service for Arthur Willard Caswell will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford. The Rev. John Braund of the Phoenix First Presbyterian Church and members of the Medford Masonic Lodge will officiate.
Mr. Caswell, 86, of Medford, died Thursday (Sept. 24, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 19, 1912, in Hartford, Conn., and moved to Alhambra, Calif., at age 11.
During World War II, he was a specialized mechanic in the experimental aircraft division of Vultee Aircraft.
After moving to Thousand Oaks, Calif., he opened Art's Valley Refrigeration. He moved to Medford in 1968, where he operated Art's Refrigeration and Art's Old and Antique Clock Repairing. He was self-employed for 41 years.
On Aug. 24, 1976, he married Frances A. Willett, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Caswell was a member of the Medford Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed traveling to parks and historical sites throughout the United States and Canada.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Roberta Joan Hoots, Mill Valley, Calif.; and a sister, Irene Seubert, Nampa, Idaho.

Roberta E. Peyton
Roberta Elizabeth Peyton, 76, of Medford, died Thursday (Sept. 24, 1998) in Medford. Private interment will be in Antioch Cemetery.
She was born Roberta Anderson on March 10, 1922, in Skykomish, Wash.
Mrs. Peyton moved to the Rogue Valley 66 years ago from Klamath Falls.
For many years she worked for Rogue River Packing Co. during fruit season.
She enjoyed gardening and needlework.
Survivors include two sons, Roland, Medford, and Fred, New York City; a daughter, Darlene Peyton, Medford; two brothers, Jack Vaughan, Trail, and Jess Keller, Feather River, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Albert and Charles Anderson and John and Melvin Keller.

Bobby Dean Burnett
The memorial celebration for Bobby Dean Burnett will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the family home, 2625 W. McAndrews Road, Medford. Jeff Smith of the Applegate Christian Fellowship will officiate. A potluck meal will follow the service.
Mr. Burnett, 31, of Medford, died Saturday (Sept. 26, 1998) at his home.

He was born Sept. 25, 1967, in Walnut Creek, Calif. The family moved to the Rogue Valley in 1975 from Antioch, Calif.
Mr. Burnett worked for Ernie's Plumbing and Sewer in Martinez, Calif.
He was a member of the Applegate Christian Fellowship and 4-H. He enjoyed studying the Civil War, Western movies, especially with John Wayne, and the Country Western singer Neil McCoy.
Survivors include his parents, Wray and Doris Stanbery, Medford; grandparents, V.O. and Dorothy Burnett, Martinez; two brothers, Russell Stewart, Medford, and Benjamin Burnett, Senoia, Georgia; and two sisters, Shari Sabin, Gold Hill, and Tina Derryberry, Medford. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby.

Raymond D. Brackman
The funeral for Raymond Dale Brackman will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Private interment will be in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.
Mr. Brackman, 80, of Ashland, died Sunday (Sept. 27, 1998) at his home.

He was born June 15, 1918, in Topeka, Kan. Nine years later, the family moved to Ashland, where he attended grade schools. Later they moved to Klamath Falls, where he attended Klamath Union High School.
On June 22, 1940, in Reno, he married Eva M. McGilvary, who survives.
Mr. Brackman was a master welder in the shipyards during World War II.
He also had been a finish carpenter, auto mechanic, real estate appraiser, and worked on the Shasta Dam in northern California.
He returned to Ashland in 1965.
Mr. Brackman was active in stock car racing and helped form the Klamath Racing Association. He also was a private pilot.
He was a member of the Ashland Rotary Club and a Twilight League golfer at Oak Knoll Golf Course.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Beverly Ann Naylor, Ashland, and Donna Rae Sabin, Medford; and a granddaughter. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
Barbara Clar Dillard
Barbara Clar Dillard, 66, of Medford, died Saturday (Sept. 26, 1998) at her home. A memorial service will be held later.

She was born Barbara Byers on Oct. 15, 1931, in Glendale, Calif.
Ms. Dillard was an electronic technician for Lockheed and Morantz Super Scope in California until her retirement in 1976.
She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1991 from Arleta, Calif.
She was a member of the Ashland First Methodist Church, was a gourmet cook, and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include her companion, Smokey Truitt, Medford; a son, Geoffrey C. Hill, Glendale, Ariz.; a daughter, Jan Redd, in Arizona; and a brother, Clar T. Byers Jr., Porterville, Calif.

Joyce Arlene Smith
The memorial service for Joyce Arlene Smith will be held Oct. 10 at Langell Valley Community Church near Bonanza.
Mrs. Smith, 62, a longtime resident of Rogue River, died Sunday (Sept. 27, 1998) at her home in Bonanza.
She was born Joyce Hess on April 6, 1936, in Tucson, Ariz.
On Aug. 20, 1955, she married Tommy W. Smith.
She was involved for more than 45 years in Sunday school and Good News clubs and enjoyed oil painting and cooking.
She was a secretary.
Survivors include a daughter, Tamara D. Clayton, Beaverton; two sons, Kenneth M., Stayton, and Gerald S., Cedarville, Mich.; two brothers, Kenneth Hess, Central Point, and Karl Hess, Bonanza; three sisters, Joanna Suzuki, Wimer, Shirley Barton, Scotts Valley, Calif., and Pamela Flack, Arlington, Wash.

Amy Elizabeth Knitter
The funeral for Amy Elizabeth Knitter will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Grace Lutheran Church, Crescent City, Calif. Private interment will be in Oceanview Cemetery, Eureka, Calif.
Mrs. Knitter, 94, of Medford, died Saturday (Sept. 26, 1998) in Medford.

She was born Amy Carlson on June 19, 1904, in Windom, Kan.
She lived in Del Norte County, Calif., for 39 years and moved to Medford six years ago.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Anita Foote, Eagle Point; two sons, Harry, Crescent City, and Alfred, Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Edyth Rump, Crescent City; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Arrangements: Wier's Mortuary Chapel, Crescent City.
