Mary Alice Bryden
The memorial service for Mary Alice Bryden will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hearthstone, 2901 E. Barnett Road, Medford. The Rev. John Braund of Phoenix First Presbyterian Church and Pastor Lloyd Gerritsen of Hearthstone will officiate. Inurnment will be in Logtown Cemetery.
Mrs. Bryden, 85, of Applegate, died Wednesday (Sept. 30, 1998) at Hearthstone.

She was born Mary Alice Lack on July 13, 1913, in St. Claire, Mo.
On Nov. 10, 1933, in San Jose, Calif., she married Harry T. Bryden, who died in 1994. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1958 from Richmond, Calif., where they raised their daughters.
They were active in Shepherd Care at Applegate Community Church, where Mrs. Bryden belonged to Women's Outreach and visited shut-ins for many years.
She enjoyed baking and gardening.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Offenbacher-Raimer and Penney Gilinsky, both of Applegate, and Joyce Von Tickner, Yreka, Calif.; a brother, Henry Lack, Augusta, Ga.; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ruth McNaught
The funeral for Ruth McNaught will be at 11 a.m. today at the Litwiller-Simonsen Chapel, Ashland. The Rev. Nevitt Smith of Ashland will officiate. Interment will be in the Jefferson City, Iowa, Cemetery.
Mrs. McNaught, 83, of Talent, died Tuesday (Sept. 29, 1998) at Jackson House in Talent.
She was born Ruth Kirkham on Sept. 16, 1915, in Jefferson, where she was raised.
In 1937, in Jefferson, she married Max E. McNaught, who preceded her in death. They moved to Bellflower, Calif., in 1955.
Mrs. McNaught lived in Cave Junction from 1961 to 1988, when she moved to Rogue River. For the past year she lived at Jackson House.
She was active in her church and enjoyed bowling and crafts.
Survivors include four sons, Terry, Ashland, Michael, Wilsonville, Gary, Corona, Calif., and David, LaPalma, Calif.; a daughter, Marilyn Scott, Sumpter; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, who died at 4 years old; another sister; and three brothers.
Friends may pay their respects from 9 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. today at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
George H. Raines
Friends of George H. Raines gathered at his home Sept. 30 for a celebration of his life.
Mr. Raines, 81, of Central Point, died Saturday (Sept. 26, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 18, 1917, in Los Angeles.
On Nov. 25, 1948, he married Grace Smith, who survives.
Mr. Raines worked in the petroleum industry until retiring in 1981. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1982.
Mr. Raines was an avid golfer.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a sister-in-law, Bettie Sharp, Central Point; a brother-in-law, Jim B. Martin, Central Point and Cathedral City, Calif.; a niece, Joyce Riker; and a nephew, Charles Martin.

Wilson Gideon Slater
The memorial service for Wilson Gideon Slater will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou Chapel, Medford. Pastor Damon McCoy of the Central Point First Baptist Church will officiate.
Mr. Slater, 81, of Ashland, died Tuesday (Sept. 29, 1998) at Ashland Community Hospital.
He was born Jan. 9, 1917, in Red Bluff, Calif. After his parents died when he was 13, he was cared for by relatives.
Mr. Slater served in the California National Guard from 1933 until being inducted into active service with the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1941.
During World War II he was an artillery instructor assigned to the 399th Bombing Group at March Field in California. Later he saw combat duty as an aerial gunner with the 49th Bombing Squadron at Amendofa, Italy. He was discharged in 1945.
In 1939, he earned a degree in history from Stanford University.
Mr. Slater worked briefly for a food cannery in California before moving to Medford in 1946, where he worked for Rogue River Packing Corp.
On Dec. 21, 1946, in Medford, he married June Porter McCallister, who died in February 1997.
Mr. Slater was an accountant for several years and was business manager for the Medford School District from 1959 until his retirement in 1980.
After retirement, the Slaters moved to Ashland, later dividing their time between Ashland and Brookings.
They enjoyed traveling and attending Stanford football games. Mr. Slater enjoyed boating and studying the Civil War and other periods of American and European history.
In Brookings, he was an active member of Emanuel Baptist Church and later joined Church of the Nazarene and was active in Gideons Bible Study Group. He was a member of North Medford Lions Club and the the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Noakes, Ashland, and Carol Griffith, Sandy, Utah; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Roger Clarence Peyton
The memorial service for Roger Clarence Peyton will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Conger-Morris Chapel, Medford. Everett A. Lobaugh will officiate. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Peyton, 64, of Medford, died Monday (Sept. 28, 1998) in the Rogue River National Forest outside of Trail.
He was born March 26, 1934, in Medford, a son of Charles Harold and Lucille Swift Peyton. Mr. Peyton was a descendent of Oregon pioneers. Peyton Bridge near Lost Creek Lake was named for the family.
On Feb. 22, 1953, in Reno, Nev., he married Dora Dee Kinard, who survives.
Mr. Peyton was a member of the New Life Church in Medford. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, especially bass fishing. Every year he canned pickles, trying different techniques and recipes in search of the perfect pickle.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, Gary and Rodney, both Medford, Lonnie, Phoenix, and Jerry, Renton, Wash.; a daughter, Rebecca VanDenBerg, Norwalk, Iowa; four brothers, Alvan, Ernie, Ronnie and Harland Dean; a sister, Laura Mae Peyton; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Bob; and three sisters, Juanita Hornsby, Nancy Florea and June Curphy.

Forest W. Price
The memorial service for Forest W. Price will be Saturday in Arlington Community Church, Kensington, Calif. Interment will be private.
Mr. Price, 89, of Medford, died Monday (Sept. 28, 1998) in Berkeley, Calif.

Mr. Price was born Sept. 23, 1909, in San Diego, Calif.
He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1935 with a degree in engineering.
A mining engineer, he was research manager for 40 years with Fiber Board Products in California.
Mr. Price lived in the Berkeley area for 53 years before moving to Rogue Valley Manor six years ago.
He enjoyed lawn bowling and bocce ball and was a loyal fan of the U.C. Berkeley Bears football team.
Survivors include his wife, Clelia Spini Price, whom he married 61 years ago in Los Angeles; three daughters, Kathleen McLeary, Ashland, Susan Doyle, Eugene, and Judy Kennedy, Oakland, Calif.; a son, Steven, Corvallis; two brothers, Loyal and Paul; a sister, Margaret Watson; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Marilyn `Mac' Kellam
The memorial service for Marilyn "Mac" Kellam will be at 3 p.m. today in the Conger-Morris Chapel, Medford. The Rev. C. Bunny Oliver will officiate.
Ms. Kellam, 46, of Medford, died Friday (Sept. 25, 1998) in Ruch.

She was born Marilyn Fox on May 21, 1952, in Lynwood, Calif.
Ms. Kellam was a bookkeeper for Dr. Edward Helman's office in Medford.
She was active in many social clubs and enjoyed hiking and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, Erin and Shawn; her mother, Emma Jean Fox; a sister, Jeralyn Fox; and two grandchildren. Her father, Lewis Fox, preceded her in death.

Donny G. Herndon
The memorial service for Donny G. Herndon will be at 11 a.m. today in the Rogue Valley Christian Church, 1440 S. Oakdale Ave., Medford. Pastor Jim Larson will officiate.
Mr. Herndon, 48, of Medford, died Sunday (Sept. 27, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 25, 1949, in Roseburg.
On May 5, 1996, in Melbourne, Fla., he married Teri Kelly, who survives.
Mr. Herndon was a foreman for Hadley Roofing.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971.
Mr. Herndon enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Donny and Ronny, both Medford; two daughters, Misty Garcia, Medford, and Sherry Herndon, Springfield; his mother, Louise Jackson, White City; three brothers, Ricky, Titusville, Fla., Jerry, West Melbourne, Fla., and Kevin Jackson, Las Vegas, Nev.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Owen; and a sister, Debbie Bragg.
