Elmont S. Livingston

The graveside service for Elmont S. Livingston will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.

Mr. Livingston, 79, of White City, died Sunday (Oct. 4, 1998) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Medford Chapter, 6915 S.W. Macadam, No. 130, Portland, OR 97219 or American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Nov. 10, 1918, in Thyne, Wyo.

During World War II, he served as a private first class in the U.S. Army, field artillery division.

Mr. Livingston moved to Ashland in 1951 from Irwin, Idaho.

In 1951, in Ashland, he married Norma L. Davis, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Livingston was a lumber grader for 24 years at Medco Corp., retiring in 1983.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Survivors include three sons, Lynn, Medford, David, White City, and Ryan, Idaho Falls, Idaho; a daughter, Nancy Reeder, White City; two sisters, Mary Young, Talent, and Kay Irvin, Ashland; two brothers, Wayne, Ashland, and Laddie, in Idaho; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded him in death.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Margy `Squeek' Snyder

The memorial service for Margy "Squeek" Snyder will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the family home, 1100 Glenlyn Drive, Williams.

Mrs. Snyder, 42, of Williams, died Sunday (Oct. 4, 1998) at her home.

She was born May 19, 1956, in Grants Pass.

On April 1, 1981, in Cave Junction, she married Gary Snyder, who survives.

Mrs. Snyder enjoyed her family and friends.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Wayne A. Stanton, Grants Pass; a stepson, Jamie S. Snyder, Williams; a stepdaughter, Stacy Padgenton, Portland; her parents, Wayne and Frances Swearingen, Cave Junction; five brothers; and a sister.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

Paula `Jean' Koch

The funeral for Paula "Jean" Koch will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Siskiyou Chapel, Medford. The Rev. Earl Best will officiate. Interment will follow in Siskiyou Memorial Park.

Mrs. Koch, 61, of Central Point, died Friday (Oct. 2, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Medford Chapter, 6915 S.W. Macadam, No. 130, Portland, OR 97219.

She was born Paula Bowers on June 9, 1937, in Salinas, Calif.

On Sept. 13, 1956, in Reno, she married Raymond Koch, who survives.

Survivors include four daughters, Judy Tipler and Cynthia Haas, both Medford, and Pamela Koch and Laurie Misener, both Central Point; two sons, Craig, White City, and Larry, Bremerton, Wash.; four brothers, Dale Bowers and Rusty Leard, both Medford, Kenneth Leard, Sams Valley, and Earl Leard, in California; three sisters, Helen Scott, Central Point, Gale Hackwreth, Gold Hill, and Patty Moore, in Florida; and 10 grandchildren. Three sisters and a brother preceded her in death.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou, Medford.

Edwin Bert Ellis

The graveside service for Edwin Bert Ellis will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.

Mr. Ellis, 57, of Happy Camp, Calif., died Friday (Oct. 2, 1998) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Crater Lake Ave., Suite 10, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Aug. 9, 1941, in Medford, a son of Edwin and Virginia Ellis.

Mr. Ellis was a log loading operator for 43 years with Crawford Logging.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and hunting trips with his son and brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Carlene Edmondson Ellis, Happy Camp; a son, Warren, Sacramento, Calif.; two daughters, Larinda Ellis and Jamie Ellis, both Sacramento; and two brothers, Gordon, Eagle Point, and Jeff, Glendale.

Louis Albert Clutter

The funeral for Louis Albert Clutter will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Chapel, Medford. The Rev. Jack Cornell of Gold Hill United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Clutter, 74, of Gold Hill, died Saturday (Oct. 3, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. He had diabetes for the past 24 years and interstitial pulmonary fibrosis for more than four years.

He was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Worth County, Mo.

On May 4, 1950, near Gold Hill, he married Etheljane "E.J." Graffis, who survives. After living in Utah, Arizona and California, they returned to Gold Hill upon retirement in 1980.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy as a seaman first class in the Asiatic Pacific and American theaters aboard the USS Collingsworth.

Mr. Clutter was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator at Deseret Chemical Depot and Dugway Proving Ground in Utah. In 1958, he transferred to the U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, working as a hydropower plant mechanic for 19 years at Davis Dam in Arizona and three years at Shasta Dam in California.

After retiring he was a mechanical foreman for Siemens-Allis, upgrading, installing and overhauling large hydro generators and pumps at dams and power plants in Oregon, Washington, Alabama, California, Alaska, and New York. From 1990 to 1992 he was project supervisor for Asea Brown Boveri, upgrading the first two generators on the Arizona side of Hoover Dam.

Mr. Clutter taught welding for seven semesters at Mojave Community College in Arizona.

A 27-year member of Lions International, he belonged to clubs in Gold Hill, Rogue River, Jacksonville, Bullhead City, Ariz.; and Shasta Lake, Calif. Recently he received the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation Helen Keller Benefactor Award and served as director of Southern Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Center.

Mr. Clutter was a member of United Methodist Church and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Good Sam Club. He enjoyed making things with a lathe or welder, fishing, hunting and vegetable gardening.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Eva Kay White, Phoenix, Ariz., Donna Kathleen Macko-Fister, Cape May, N.J., and Connie Kristine Hursh, San Jose, Calif.; two sisters, Angela Goates, Lehi, Utah, and Joyce McAlister-Polito, Pueblo, Colo.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eula Saxto; and a brother, John B.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel.

Doyle B. Langdon

Friends and relatives of Doyle B. Langdon will share their reminiscences at a gathering at 2 p.m. Saturday at 3303 N. Valley View Road, Ashland.

Mr. Langdon, 84, formerly of Ashland and Talent, died Sept. 20, 1998, in San Jose, Calif.

He was born June 15, 1914, in Shirley, Ark.

During World War II, Mr. Langdon served in the U.S. Army and was awarded a Purple Heart.

He worked for Lockheed Corp. in San Jose and later for Ashland Sanitary Service.

Mr. Langdon lived in the Rogue Valley from 1968 to 1993.

He enjoyed farm and ranch activities, including raising and driving mules.

Survivors include a sister, Nadine Roberson, Batesville, Ark.; a brother, Carl, San Jose; and a foster son, Everett Merle Bailey, Coos Bay. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Caldwell Langdon.

Arrangements: Hutchison & Carnes Colonial Chapel, Marysville, Calif.

Maxine C. Seward

The graveside service for Maxine C. Seward will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

Mrs. Seward, 93, of Central Point, died Friday (Oct. 2, 1998), at her home.

She was born Maxine Gardner on April 2, 1905, in Spokane, Wash.

On July 23, 1927, in Merced, Calif., she married Robert George Seward, who died in 1963.

Mrs. Seward moved to Oregon in 1970.

She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening and painting.

Survivors include a daughter, Emma Jean Knight, Central Point; a son, Robert George Jr., Boulder City, Nev.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Maxine Ramona Klug; two brothers; and two sisters.

Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at Abbey Funeral, 2680 N. Pacific Highway, Medford.

Leisel Lyle Penny

Leisel Lyle Penny, 83, of Medford, died Wednesday (Sept. 30) at Three Fountains Care Center. No local service is planned.

Mr. Penny was born Oct. 6, 1914, in Quinaby, Ore.

He was an aeronautic engineer for Lockheed and Northrop and worked on the team that built the Apollo spacecraft. He later tracked satellites as a telemetry technician.

He moved to the Rogue Valley from Alaska in 1975. After his retirement, he began investing as a hobby and had several clients. He also built and sailed his own sailboat.

He was married for 40 years to Ruth Luy, who died in 1981. On May 16, 1983, in Reno, he married Helen Kinser, who survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Sharon Dowdy of Baker; a son, John Penny of Pendleton; a stepdaughter, Marla Lance of Central Point; a stepson, Tom Abbott of Boulder Creek, Calif.; two half-brothers, Fred Karpurk of Portland and Paul Karpurk of Carson City, Nev.; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.
