William George Oke
Mass of Christian burial for William George Oke will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Hope Presbyterian Church, Rogue River. The Rev. Thomas Whelan will officiate. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Oke, 86, of Rogue River, died Tuesday (Oct. 13, 1998) at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Grants Pass.

He was born Jan. 2, 1912, in Toronto, Ontario.
Mr. Oke earned degrees from the University of Toronto and Blackstone School of Law.
During World War II, he served as a pay officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
On May 15, 1954, in Mexico, he married Pauline Raymond Garcia, who survives. They moved to Rogue River in 1979 from Canoga Park, Calif.
Before immigrating to the United States, Mr. Oke was a statistician for Dominion Stores of Canada. He was a Realtor in California's San Fernando Valley and later president and chief financial officer of Hody's Restaurants of Southern California.
In Rogue River, Mr. Oke served on the city council from 1981 to 1983, was police commissioner during that time and director of Friends of the Library. He was a member of Rogue River Catholic Community and treasurer from 1982 to 1991. He was director of Southern Oregon Federal Credit Union from 1983 to 1986.
In 1987, he drafted and lobbied for the passage of Senate Bill 257 in the Oregon Assembly, which amended the Securities Law to protect senior citizens from unscrupulous mortgage brokers and provided administrative and criminal penalties for noncompliance.
For his efforts, the American Association of Retired Persons Legislative Committee honored him with a special commendation in August 1987.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, George Jr., Shady Cove; two daughters, Barbara May Pike, Glendora, Calif., and Joan Ann Small, Canoga Park; a brother, Jack Pirrite, Niagara Falls, Ontario; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas; and a sister, Doris Houston.

Betty W. Doren
The memorial service for Betty W. Doren will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Hillcrest Chapel, Medford. Pastor Phil Wilikin of the Ashland Seventh-day Adventist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Doren, 82, of Medford, died Sunday (Oct. 11, 1998) in Medford.

She was born Elizabeth Wyatt St. Pierre on June 29, 1916, in Colorado.
In 1930, in Lost Corner, Ark., she married Archie Stewart, who preceded her in death.
On Aug. 5, 1956, in Medford, she married James A. Doren, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Doren enjoyed boating, camping and cooking.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Hill, Medford; six sons, Jerry Stewart, South El Monte, Calif., Earl Stewart, Dunsmuir, Calif., Sam Shasky, Fairfield, Calif., Donald Stewart, Talent, James Stewart, Medford, Richard Stewart, Shady Cove, and James A. Doren
Jr., Medford; 28 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ed; and two sisters.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Hillcrest Chapel.

Maxine M. Hollenshead
Maxine Marian Hollenshead, 86, of Medford, died Saturday (Oct. 10, 1998) at her home. A private service will be held later. Inurnment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.
She was born Maxine Walker on Jan. 24, 1912, in Dayton, Wash.
On Oct. 1, 1933, in Walla Walla, Wash., she married Donald William Hollenshead, who died in 1976.
Mrs. Hollenshead was a clerk for the Internal Revenue Service. Later she was a statistical clerk for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft until retiring in the early 1970s.
She moved to the Rogue Valley one year ago from Huntington Beach, Calif.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Huntington Beach. She enjoyed reading, especially books on archaeology, along with gardening and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include three nieces, a nephew and two great-nieces. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Dr. Paul Walker, Theodore Walker and Merle Walker; and a sister, Frances Wright.

Grant `Bill' Keal
The memorial service for Grant "Bill" Keal will be at 11 a.m. today in the Calvary Church Assembly of God, Jacksonville. Pastor Terry Luttrell will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Keal, 74, of Jacksonville, died Sunday (Oct. 11, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

On April 4, 1944, in Hopkinsville, Ky., he married Gladys Ruth Wiles, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 1 1/2 years ago from Denver, Colo.
Mr. Keal worked for Time D.C. Trucking in Denver until his retirement in 1981.
He was chaplain for the Campers for Christ RV group.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a technician 4th grade.
He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Shari Warren, Jacksonville, and Kathy Kovach, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a sister, Lucy Cartlidge, Great Bend, Kan.; and two grandchildren.

Cathy Terrell
The memorial service for Cathy Terrell will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Applegate Christian Fellowship. Pastor Rick Cohen will officiate.

She was born Cathryn Jean Schnabel on Nov. 17, 1948, in Klamath Falls.
She moved to the Rogue Valley 14 years ago from Klamath Falls.
On Sept. 8, 1985, in Eagle Point, she married Donald R. Terrell, who survives.
Mrs. Terrell was general manager of Horizon Inn and the Kopper Kitchen in Medford until they were sold in 1997. She then was a cashier for the Harry and David Country Store in Medford.
She was a member of Applegate Christian Fellowship and the Literacy Guild. She enjoyed gardening, reading, taking long rides and picnics.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a stepson, Michael, Las Vegas; her mother, Viola Wise, Medford; a sister, Barbara Hansen, White City; and three step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, James Schnabel; and stepfather, Merrill "Brownie" Wise.

Harley Burton Pressley
The memorial service for Harley Burton Pressley will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Prospect Baptist Church, 358 M Lane. The Rev. Ralph Freer will officiate. A potluck dinner will follow at the church.
Mr. Pressley, 75, of Prospect, died Saturday (Oct. 10, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born March 26, 1923, in Speedwell, N.C.
On April 27, 1944, in Clayton, Ga., he married Margaret Garrison, who died in 1997. They moved to the Rogue Valley 45 years ago from Renton, Wash.
Mr. Pressley was a timber faller, working many years for Medford Corp. and the majority of his career with C.M. & D. Logging of Prospect.
He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific.
Mr. Pressley was a member of Prospect Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, raising and training hound dogs, and vegetable gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas and Jeffrey, both Prospect; four daughters, Gail Bowen, Butte Falls, Linda Ellison, Bellingham, Wash., Katie Holcomb, Marysville, Wash., and Retha Helgeson, Arlington, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lois B. Rogers
The graveside service for Lois B. Rogers will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland. The Rev. Scott Dalgarno of Ashland First Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Mrs. Rogers, 82, of Ashland, died Sunday (Oct. 11, 1998) at her home.

She was born Lois Smith on Nov. 14, 1915, in Scatterwood Lake, S.D., and moved to Ashland in the early 1930s.
On March 25, 1940, in Reno, she married Lloyd Rogers, who survives.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of Lords and Ladies Square Dance Club of Ashland and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and sewing.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Larry D., Medford, and Lonnie R., Sacramento; two brothers, Gordon Smith, McMinnville, and Loren Smith, Redfield, S.D.; two sisters, Verda Smith, Ashland, and Geraldine Wahl, Amity; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
