Arnold D. Anderson

The memorial service for Arnold Duane Anderson will be at 2 p.m. today at St. John's Lutheran Church, Eagle Point. Pastor Ronald Norris will officiate. Inurnment will be held later in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson, 72, died Saturday (Oct. 17, 1998) at his home in Eagle Point.

He was born June 7, 1926, in Grenora, N.D.

On April 21, 1946, in North Dakota, he married Eunice Eleanor Ebel, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 11 years ago from Elk Grove, Calif.

Mr. Anderson was vice president of the California Gas Corp., retiring in 1982.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Griffin Lon, Fresno, Calif., and Charles Boyd, Citrus Heights, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Keith Salmon

The memorial service for Keith E. "Banjo Man" Salmon will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Central Point. Pastor David Keil will officiate.

Mr. Salmon, 90, of Jacksonville, died Oct. 9, 1998, at the Medford Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Jonathan Allen Jacobs

The memorial service for Jonathan Allen Jacobs will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Medford. The Rev. Ted Broadway will officiate. Burial will be at Jacksonville Cemetery.

Jonathan, 1 month old, of Central Point, died Thursday (Oct. 15, 1998) at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.

Memorial contributions may be made to Legacy Emanuel Hospital, P.O. Box 4484, Portland, OR, 97208 or to Ronald McDonald House, 2620 North Commercial Ave., Portland, OR, 97227.

He was born Sept. 7, 1998, in Medford.

Survivors include his parents, Greg and Jennifer Jacobs, Central Point; and his grandparents, Robin and Wally Hicks, Jacksonville, and Lorin and Meg Jacobs, Medford.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Elizabeth E. Murphy

Elizabeth E. Murphy, 73, formerly of Central Point and Medford, died on Thursday (Oct. 15, 1998) in Anthony, Kan. A graveside service will be held for her at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

She was born on Feb. 25, 1925, in Anthony, Kan. Mrs. Murphy was a retired registered nurse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin J. Murphy.

Survivors include a son, Robert Seth, Bryan, Texas; a brother, Harold Madsen, and sister, Shirlei Himelrick, both of Anthony, Kan.; two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Conger Morris Funeral Directors.

Florence T. Ross

The memorial service for Florence T. Ross will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Central Point First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dwayne Brown will officiate. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mrs. Ross, 82, of Central Point, died Oct. 2, 1998 in a local nursing home.

She was born Florence Thies on Oct. 15, 1915 in Barrington, Ill.

On March 18, 1960, in Chicago, Ill., she married R. Robert Ross, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 20 years ago from Chicago.

Mrs. Ross was a secretary and officer manager for Allied Products Corp. and Atlas Steel Co. in Chicago.

She was a member and organist at Central Point First Presbyterian Church, and active in the Sojourners and Welcome Club in Central Point, and the Elgin, Ill., Moose Lodge. She also enjoyed traveling, music and bridge.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three stepchildren, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A sister and a grandson preceded her in death.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Jonathan A. Jacobs

The memorial service for Jonathan Allen Jacobs will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Medford. The Rev. Ted Broadway will officiate. Burial will at Jacksonville Cemetery.

Jonathan, one month old, of Central Point, died Thursday (Oct. 15, 1998) at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.

He was born Sept. 7, 1998, in Medford.

Survivors include his parents, Greg and Jennifer Jacobs, Central Point; and his grandparents, Robin and Wally Hicks, Jacksonville, and Lorin and Meg Jacobs, Medford.

Eris I. Landes

Eris Irene Landis, 75, of Medford, died Monday (Oct. 12, 1998) at her home. No service is planned. Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

She was born Eris Irene Langston on Dec. 30, 1922, in Pierre, S.D.

Mrs. Landes moved to the Rogue Valley 60 years ago. She worked as an office manager in the medical field.

She enjoyed shopping and knitting doll clothes. She also liked to travel, especially to the coast.

Survivors include two sons, James C. Landes and George D. Landes III; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Landes, Jr.; two sisters, Maxine McQuigg and Remay Heedeman; and two brothers, Jack Langston and Loyd Langston.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Philip H. Herrmann

Philip Henry Herrmann, 81, of Medford, died Friday (Oct. 16, 1998) at Three Fountains Nursing Center. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Oregon Humane Society, 2910 Table Rock Road, Medford, OR 97501, or the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 1211, Eagle Point, OR 97524.

He was born Oct. 18, 1916, in Berkeley, Calif.

On Nov. 21, 1945, in St. Paul, Minn., he married Katherine LeVasseur, who survives. They lived in the Rogue Valley the past 7 years, after moving from Pleasant Hill, Calif.

Mr. Herrmann was a captain in the U.S. Army. He was a sales representative with Lancer of California, and Ernst, Inc.

He was a founder and past president of the Rogue Valley Bonsai Club and a member of the Medford Elks Lodge #2093. He enjoyed golf and making stained glass.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Heidi Caldwell, San Ramon, Calif.; and two sons, John, Mount Shasta, Calif., and Jeff, Concord, Calif. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Wilmont.

Grace T. Russ-Smith

Grace Thompson Russ-Smith, 93, of Gold Hill, died Sunday (Oct. 11, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A funeral service was held Saturday in Needham, Mass.Burial was at Needham Cemetery.

She was born Grace Thompson on Dec. 6, 1904, in West Sommerville, Mass.

In Massachusetts, Mrs. Russ-Smith worked for the John Douglas clothing company. She published a lot of poetry and was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Needham.

Survivors include a son, Barry Russ, Gold Hill; a daughter, Jane Jennings, East Lyme, Conn.; a sister, Evelyn Westcott, Waltham, Mass; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elliot; a sister, Mildred; and two brothers, Stuart and William.

Arrangements: Conber-Morris, Medford.

Partricia Ann Davis

The graveside service for Patricia Ann Davis will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.

Mrs. Davis, 66, formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Thursday (Oct. 15, 1998) at her home in McKinleyville, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2942 "F" St., Eureka CA, 95501.

She was born in Medford, a daughter of John and Gertrude Greb, who preceded her in death.

She graduated from Southern Oregon College and taught elementary school in Bend, Central Point, and Eureka, as well as at the U.S. Naval Base at Sangley Point in the Philippines and in Eureka.

On Sept. 17, 1960, in Arcata, Calif., she married Richard E. Davis, who survives.

An ordained deacon, Mrs. Davis taught Sunday school and was a secretary in the Presbyterian Women.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Mark and Douglas; two step-sons, Rick and Fred; a step-daughter, Pamela Jackson; a sister, Barbara Feinstein; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Pierce Mortuary Chapels/Paul's Chapel, Arcata, Calif., and Perl Funeral Services.
