Glenn Stephen Mayben, 66, of Ashland died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001 at home. No services will be held
George R. Howard
George R. Howard, 80, of Talent died Monday, November 12, 2001 at the Rogue River Medical Center in Medford. No services will be held.
He was born March 9, 1921 in Sacramento, Calif. He married Virginia Lowry on April 16, 1977 in Lancaster, Calif.
Mr. Howard was an Air Force Major in World War II, flying the C-47 in the South Pacific. After the war he continued to serve his country as a Deputy Sheriff, retiring from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia K. Howard; two daughters, Diane Harrison of Lake Elsinore, Calif., and Lisa Howard of Woodland Hills, Calif.; two grandchildren, Erin and Nicholas Bahner; and a step-son, Barry A. Lowry of Ridgecrest, Calif.
Arrangements were by Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.
Irene Jeannette Hagen
Irene Jeannette Hagen, 92, of Medford died today at Hearthstone Manor in Medford. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
Herbert David Brazil
Herbert David Brazil, 90, of Talent died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001 in Vancouver, Wash. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2001 at the Memory Gardens Mortuary Chapel in Medford. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Het was born Oct. 18, 1911 in Silver City, N.M. He moved to Alaska in 1929 from Albuquerque, N.M., and attended the University of Alaska where he received his bachelor's of science degree in 1939. In 1955, he married Frances M. Brazil in Palestine, Texas. Also in 1955, he earned his Engineer status and worked as an Electronics Engineer in management for the Federal Aviation Administration, retiring in 1971. In Alaska, he had lived in Fairbanks, Anchorage, and Juneau. He was a life member of Pioneers of Alaska and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, both in Alaska.
Mr. Brazil moved from Juneau, Alaska to the Rogue Valley in 1971. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Medford.
Survivors include two step-sons, Mack H. Williams of New Orleans, La., and K.J. Williams of Palestine, Texas; and two sisters, Rae Dean Terry of Portales, N.M., and Peggy Sweptson of Amarillo, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2001, and one sister.
Arrangements are by Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford.
Dean Emory Ing
Dean Emory Ing, 92, of Ashland died of pneumonia Saturday, Nov.17, 2001 at the Linda Vista Care Center in Ashland. He will be interred in Lubbock, Texas, where he resided for ten years, and where he graduated from Texas Tech with a bachelor's of science in Industrial Psychology.
A resident of Ashland for the past six years, Mr. Ing was born Jan.1, 1909 in Wynne, Ark., to John Homer Ing and Nellye Woodye Webb Ing. He was the youngest of three children. In April of 1929, he married Louise Hardin.
Mr. Ing worked as a personnel manager and training specialist, first for the Arnold Engineering Development Center in Tennessee, and then for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company in Sunnyvale, Calif. There, in collaboration with Stanford University, he helped pioneer remote televised classroom instruction for scientists and engineers.
Before moving to Ashland, Mr. Ing lived in Kerrville, Texas, where he was active in assisting with tax preparation at the Senior Center. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville. He was also a 50-year member of the Scottish Rite Masonic Order and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his son Dean Charles Ing and daughter-in-law Gina Ing of Ashland; four granddaughters, Valerie Ing-Miller of Petersburg, Alaska, Dana Ing of Portland, Diana Hughes of Arlington, Texas, and Vicki Robertson of Lyman, Neb.; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Hardin Ing.
Arrangements are under the direction of Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland.
John Raymond Bobbett
John Raymond Bobbett, 78, of Medford died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001 at Providence Medford Medical Center. Private family services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be held at the Woodville Cemetery in Rogue River.

Mr. Bobbett was born Sept. 26, 1923 in Seattle, Wash., to Cecil and Marie Bobbett. On Nov. 24, 1967 in Medford, he married the former Norma Cardin Mullins, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Bobbett moved to the Rogue Valley in 1927 from the state of Washington. He worked as a dryer feeder for the Medco Corporation for 25 years. He was a member of the Eagle Lodge 2093 for 42 years. He was a loving husband, step-father and grandfather.
Survivors include two step-daughters, Joyce Deckelman of Milwaukie, Ore., and Pauline Hatfield of Kent, Wash.; two brothers, Jim Bobbett of New Mexico and Robert Bobbett of Spokane, Wash.; three sisters, Dolly Wood of Medford, Helen Betz of Talent, and Betty Read of Sam Valley; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma Bobbett, a brother Donald Bobbett, and a sister Ethel Madden.
Arrangements were handled by Abbey Funeral, Inc. in Medford.
LaWanda `Jean' Maury
LaWanda Jean Maury, 77, of Medford and formerly of Ashland, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001 at Edgewood Home Care in Medford. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2001 at Westminster Presbyterian Church of Medford. Rev. Alan Jackson will officiate.

Mrs. Maury was born Aug. 19, 1924 in Denver, Colo., to David and Anona Vorhess.
She attended Klamath High School. On April 25, 1966 in Reno, Nevada she married Cecil Joel Bell who preceded her in death in 1978. On Sept. 8, 1984 in Medford, she married Alfred Emil Maury who preceded her in death in 1993.
Mrs. Maury lived in the Ashland and Medford areas for 36 years. She worked as an office manager for Simms Electronic. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Daughters of the Nile, Eastern Star, and Amaranth. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, gardening, and singing in the church choir.
Her cousin Betty (Roper) Phillips of Corvallis, Ore., survives. She was preceded in death by two husbands.

William Harry Sholem
William Harry Sholem, 66, of Ashland died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001 at home. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001 at Temple Emek Shalom in Ashland. Rabbi Marc Sirinsky will officiate. Private interment will be held at the Jacksonville Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Mr. Sholem was born March 10, 1935 in Urbana, Ill., to Jerome and Faye (Siegal) Shalom. On Nov. 18, 1967 in Grosse Pointe, Mich., he married Constance (Connie) Wendin. Bill and Connie moved to Ashland in April of 2000 after living overseas for 27 years.
Mr. Sholem graduated with a B.A. and LL.B. from the University of Illinois and a MBA from San Francisco State College. He was a banker working in international banking for over 30 years, living in California, London, England, and Venezuela.
Survivors include his wife Connie Sholem of Ashland; his son Michael Sholem of London, England; daughters Betsy Babcock and Susan Neis, both of Littleton, Colo., and Joanna Sholem of Flagstaff, Ariz.; brothers Myron and Stanford Sholem, both of Champaign, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Kylat Neis, Sarah Neis, and Lindsey Babcock. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Cory Babcock.
