Arletha B. Knutson
The funeral for Arletha Bullock Knutson will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Apostolic Church Youth Chapel, Medford. The Revs. Robert Olson and Earl Phillips will officiate. Interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mrs. Knutson, 93, of Medford, died Sunday (Oct. 25, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 21, 1905, in Medford, a daughter of William R. and Alma Dustin Bullock.
On May 9, 1926, at her father's home in Medford, she married Karl Knutson, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Knutson attended the Apostolic Faith Church and was a longtime member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
She volunteered at the Medford Gospel Mission for many years and, with her husband, chaired the Medford Senior Center Armchair Traveler programs for several years. She also enjoyed music.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris Cearley, Medford; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Three sisters and a brother preceded her in death.

Freda M. Peterson
Freda M. Peterson, 79, formerly of Medford, died Friday (Oct. 23, 1998) in Oregon City, where she was living. A memorial service will be held later.

She was born Freda Muncey on Oct. 11, 1919, in Halfway.
In 1940, she married Wayne Peterson, who died in 1982.
Mrs. Peterson was a teacher at Wilson Elementary School in Medford.
She lived in Medford for 40 years, moving to the Portland area in August.
Mrs. Peterson was a member of the Friendship Club, Retired Educations Association and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Survivors include a daughter, Carri Peterson, Clackamas; a son, Dale, Johannesburg, South Africa; two brothers, Wendell Muncey, Baker City, and Thomas Muncey, Sparks, Nev.; a sister, Frances Kurgel, Baker City; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Nadine Corrinne Smith
A graveside service for Nadine Corrinne Smith will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Pastor Kenny Horton of Rogue Valley Christian Church will officiate.
Mrs. Smith, 82, of Central Point, died Friday (Oct. 23, 1998) at her home.
She was born Feb. 17, 1916, in Ardmore, Okla. On Feb. 28, 1957, in Las Vegas, Nev., she married Jack L. Smith, who survives.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker who lived in the Rogue Valley for three years after moving from La Mirada, Calif.
She enjoyed poetry, painting, and arts and crafts.
Survivors in addition to her husband include five daughters, Dianna Cantrell, Medford, Carolyn Bilderbach, Stevenson Ranch, Calif., Nadine Louks, San Diego, Calif., Linda Almond, Glendale, Ariz., and Betty Chandler, Ruston, La.; two sisters, Colleen Hall, Central Point, and Jean Bach, Hollywood, Calif.; thirteen grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Gene B. McArthur
The service for Gene B. McArthur will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. McArthur, 61, of Central Point, died Friday (Oct. 23, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born April 26, 1937, in Los Angeles.
He was married 43 years to Velma McArthur, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990.
He worked as a truck driver and enjoyed fishing and operating a citizens band radio. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Evan, Medford; two daughters, Laurie, White City, and Sandra Sutterfield, Central Point; his mother, Bulah, Medford; a brother, Archie, Central Point; three sisters, Margaret Duarte, Phoenix, Jeniel St. Germian, Carlsbad, Calif., and Phyllis Snyder, Long Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Alfred Joseph Madeiros
A graveside service for Alfred Joseph Madeiros will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Dave Booye of Rogue Valley Fellowship Church will officiate.
Mr. Madeiros, 75, of Central Point, died Friday (Oct. 23, 1998) at his home.

He was born Sept. 10, 1923, in Oakland, Calif., the son of Alfred and Isabella Madeiros.
On June 17, 1990, in Reno, Nev., he married Linda Hukill. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Hayward, Calif., 38 years ago.
He was the former owner of House of Memories and had worked for Lockheed Inc. for five years and as an insurance salesman in Southern California.
He was a member of the Rogue Valley Fellowship Church and enjoyed automobiles.
Survivors in addition to his wife include, a son, David; two stepsons, Rick and Brian Monroe; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; and a brother, Phillip.

Hugh D. Brookhart
Hugh D. Brookhart, 62, of Medford, died Wednesday (Oct. 21, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned. Interment will be in the Eastwood IOOF Cemetery, Medford.
He was born Aug. 19, 1936, in Cottage Grove.
On Aug. 4, 1962, in Newport, he married Bettye Eastman, who survives.
Mr. Brookhart was a shoe salesman and a self-employed painter.
He enjoyed fishing, furniture refinishing and yard sales.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Dwaine Rollins, Gold Hill, and Byron Brookhart, Medford; two daughters, Myrna Johnson, Columbus, Ind., and Cindy Barlow, Katy, Texas; and 12 grandchildren. A son, Timothy Brookhart, preceded him in death.

Joseph Henry Benesh
Joseph Henry Benesh, 79, of Medford, died Friday (Oct. 23, 1998) at Hearthstone Manor. Inurnment will be at the Lebanon Odd Fellows Cemetery.

He was born in Dante, S.D.,on March 13, 1919.
On May 10, 1943, in Victoria Park, Western Australia, he married Edith Ashton, who died in 1992.
He lived in Lebanon from 1956 to 1986, and worked many years for Linn Gear Machine. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992.
Mr. Benesh enjoyed hunting, working with his hands and around his country home.
Survivors include a daughter, Jo Hamilton, of Medford, and a son, Bob Benesh, of Battle Ground, Wash.

Mary Grove Martin
Mary Grove Martin, 76, of Ashland, died Sunday (Oct. 18, 1998) at her home. A private service was held.
She was born Mary Grove on May 29, 1922, in Winnemucca, Nev.
She was raised in Denio and graduated from high school in Burns.
In 1950, she married Lorne Martin. They were divorced in 1965.
She lived in Arizona and Hilt, Calif., before moving to Ashland in 1965.
Mrs. Martin was a bookkeeper in Portland and Hines and worked 20 years with Rogue Valley Physicians Services, retiring in 1985.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon M. Wagman, Ashland; two sons, Robert L. and Paul W., both Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
