Darlene Stafford
Darlene Stafford, 58, of Selma, died Thursday (Nov. 19, 1998) at her home. A private service was held.
She was born Darlene Stonebreaker on July 10, 1940, in Encinitas, Calif.
On Oct. 5, 1957, in San Diego, Calif., she married Arthur L. Stafford, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1987 from San Diego County.
Mrs. Stafford was a Native American of Cherokee descent. She was a member of the Native American Community of Josephine and Jackson counties and was active in Native American cultural activities and ceremonies.
She was self-employed and enjoyed doing Native American beadwork.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Derald Lee, Grants Pass, David Micheal, Selma, and Danny Lee, Orange, Texas; a daughter, Doneel Ruth Penasso, Selma; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Jessie Iles Scafani
The memorial service for Jessie Iles Scafani will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Westminster Presbyterian Church, Medford. Pastor Alan Jackson will officiate. Entombment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Scafani, 81, of Medford, died Sunday (Nov. 22, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Jessie Iles on Jan. 2, 1917, in Casa Grande, Ariz.
On Nov. 3, 1939, in Las Vegas, Nev., she married Anthony P. Scafani, who survives.
Mrs. Scafani was a teacher and reading specialist in Ashland schools, in Fremont, Calif., and Siskiyou County, Calif., before her retirement. She continued to volunteer with the Laubach Literacy Program.
Mrs. Scafani was an elder in the Westminster Presbyterian Church, a member and organist of the Irvington Presbyterian Church in Fremont and a member of Daughters of American Colonists.
She was proud of her Scottish heritage and enjoyed genealogy, quilting, traveling and Bible studies.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, David, Medford, and Robert, Fremont; a daughter, Janet Gettling, Victor, Idaho; and six grandchildren.

Cesar Fuentes Castillo
The memorial service for Cesar Fuentes Castillo will be at 1 p.m. today at Rogue Valley Christian Church, 1440 S. Oakdale Ave., Medford. Pastor James Larson will officiate.
Mr. Castillo, 35, of Medford, died Friday (Nov. 20, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 22, 1963, in Santa Maria, Calif., and had lived in the Rogue Valley for two years after moving from Portland.
Mr. Castillo worked for the federal govement and enjoyed listening to music.
Survivors include his companion, Roxann Castillo, of Medford; two sons, Michael and Anthony, and three daughters, Sonovia, Brandy and Shannon, all of Medford; his father, Tanis Castillo, of Beaverton, and mother, Francisca Saenz, of Del Rio, Texas; four brothers, Daniel, Hector and Jose Luis, all of Santa Maria, Calif., and Ricardo, of West Columbia, S.C.; and two sisters, Petra and Maria, of Santa Maria, Calif.

Delilah Selma Callaway
The graveside service for Delilah Selma Callaway will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Siskiyou Memorial Park. Her nephew, Larry Mapes, of California, will officiate.
Mrs. Callaway, 82, of Medford, died Friday (Nov. 20, 1998) at her home.
She was born Delilah Selma Mapes on April 17, 1916, in Haskell, Texas.
On Dec. 12, 1935, she married Robert Shelby Callaway in Haskell. They moved to the Rogue Valley 49 years ago from Hemet, Calif.
Mrs. Callaway was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, camping and sewing.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Leo, of Las Vegas, N.M., and Ed, of Medford; two daughters, Patricia Bakken, of Leesburg, Va., and Myrna Avila, of Mount Shasta, Calif.; three brothers, Benjamin, Leon and Rogers; two sisters, Juanita Murray and Jeanette Lockwood; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, James A. and Billie, and a sister, Cortez Javitch.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Conger-Morris Chapel, 715 W. Main St., Medford.
William `Bill' G. Holmes
William "Bill" G. Holmes, 74, of White City, died Thursday (Nov. 19, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private service is planned.
He was born July 24, 1924, in Garden City, Kan.
Mr. Holmes owned a cattle ranch in Eagle Point and was a horse and mule trader. He was a timber faller for Bernie Hughes, owned and operated a logging truck and worked for Pacific Power and Light's line crew.
As a young man he was a bareback and bull rider in rodeos.
Mr. Holmes served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his companion, Doris Essary, Medford; two daughters, Rochelle Sirianni, Gold Hill, and Suzette Klimko, Central Point; a sister; and a grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie in 1976; and three brothers.

Edna A. Fogle
Edna Agnes Fogle, 77, of Rogue River, died Wednesday (Nov. 18, 1998) at her home. A private service was held.

She was born Edna Blakely on April 4, 1921, in Rogue River, a daughter of Sandy and Rita Blakely.
In 1942, in Seattle, Wash., she married M.G. Fogle, who died in 1965. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1997 from San Diego, Calif.
Mrs. Fogle worked as an auditor for the Nugget Hotel in Sparks, Nev. She enjoyed sewing and reading.
Survivors include a son, Ronald M. Fogle, Roseburg; two daughters, Sheryl M. Warren, Lake Oswego, and Colleen A. Blakely, San Diego; two brothers, Glenn Blakely, Eagle Point, and Delmer Blakely, Rio Del, Calif.; six sisters, Lenore Winters and Katheryn Anderson, both Rogue River; Lois Scott, Eugene; Norma Malone, Sacramento, Calif.; Margaret Helferstine, Seattle; and Virginia Baird, Gilbert, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Delores J. Ruhl
The graveside service for Delores Jean Ruhl will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford. Pastor John Adams of Butte Falls Community Church will officiate.
Mrs. Ruhl, 69, of Medford, died Friday (Nov. 20, 1998) at Three Fountains Nursing Center.

She was born Jan. 3, 1929, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Oklahoma in 1946.
She married Clayton "Bud" Ruhl in Medford; he died in 1978.
Mrs. Ruhl worked as a waitress for Medford Bowling Lanes for 12 years. She was a member of the Eagles Women's Auxiliary.
She enjoyed bowling, fishing, dancing and bingo.
Survivors include four sons, Rodney A. Dyer, Medford; Booth "Dwayne" Dyer, Butte Falls; twins Jerry R. Dyer, Medford; and Jimmy D. Dyer, Portland; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Lee Dyer, in 1952.

Beulah Shelledy
Beulah Shelledy, 84, of Medford, died Friday (Nov. 20, 1998) at Hearthstone Manor. Arrangements will be announced by Perl Funeral Service, Medford.Mabelle Swanson
The graveside service for Mabelle Swanson will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford. The Rev. Louis Schneider of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Swanson died Thursday (Nov. 19, 1998) at Bachelor Butte Nursing Home, Bend.
She was born June 1, 1918, in Badger, Minn. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1942 and to Bend in 1997.
She worked as a telephone operator for Pacific Northwest Bell until her retirement. She was a volunteer for ARC.
She enjoyed knitting and yardwork.
Survivors include two sons, Greg Swanson, Bend, and Gary Swanson, Portland; a brother, John Gavin, Richland, Wash.; and six grandchildren.

Margery Lambert
The memorial service for Margery Lambert will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 4 at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland. Inurnment will follow at the cemetery.
Mrs. Lambert, 75, formerly of Medford, died Oct. 26, 1998 in Junction City, where she was living.
She was born March 17, 1923, in McCloud, Calif. She moved to Medford when she was younger. She moved away but returned to the Rogue Valley 10 years ago. She moved to Junction City earlier this year.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Lambert, Junction City; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Lambert.
