Marietta L. Longley

Marietta L. Longley, 86, of Rogue River, died Saturday (Nov. 28, 1998) at her home. A memorial service will be held later.

She was born Marietta Long on Sept. 14, 1912, in Lindsay, Calif.

On Oct. 16, 1931, in Lindsay, she married Herbert L. Longley, who survives. They moved to Southern California, where she was an executive secretary for many years.

Mrs. Longley moved to Grants Pass in 1985.

She enjoyed crafts and reading.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include numerous nieces and nephews. A son, John, preceded her in death.

Arrangements: Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, Grants Pass.

Mary M. Johnson

The funeral for Mary M. Johnson will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the First Christian Church, 1900 Crater Lake Ave., Medford. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn will officiate. Interment will follow in the Central Point Masonic Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson, 59, of Medford, died Tuesday (Dec. 1, 1998) at her home.

She was born Mary Stough on May 24, 1939, in Gordo, Ala.

On Aug. 19, 1985, in Reno, Nev., she married Burl C. Johnson, who survives.

Mrs. Johnson moved to Oregon in 1985.

She enjoyed music and writing poetry.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Charles Timothy Bridges and James Clayton Bridge, both Northport, Ala.; and four grandchildren. Three brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Kenneth J. Curtis

The memorial service for Kenneth J. Curtis will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Central Point First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Duane Brown will officiate.

Mr. Curtis, 76, of Central Point, died Friday (Nov. 27, 1998) at Hearthstone.

He was born Sept. 18, 1922, in Dubuque, Iowa, where he was raised and educated.

On March 9, 1944, in Charleston, W.V., he married Mary Lue Haltenhoff, who survives.

Mr. Curtis graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, N.Y., in 1944. He was a deck officer during World War II and later an officer in the Naval Reserve.

Mr. Curtis was a partner for 33 years at Haltenhoff Florists in Dubuque.

He moved to the Rogue Valley six years ago from Elk, Wash.

In Dubuque, he was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder of the session and on the board of deacons, and Roving Volunteers in Christ's Service. He served on the board of directors and was past president of Dubuque Community School District and was a member of several florists' organizations, Dubuque Jaycees, Masonic Lodge and Indian Guides.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Jon R., Lake Shastina, Calif.; and a grandson. A daughter, Jean Lue, and son, Randall Lee, died in 1966.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.

Dale Lee Burton

The memorial service for Dale Lee Burton will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Eagle Point National Cemetery. Members of the Medford Moose Lodge will officiate.

Mr. Burton, 46, of Medford, died Tuesday (Dec. 1, 1998) at his home.

He was born Sept. 17, 1952, in Medford.

Mr. Burton was a musician and worked at Larry's Music in Medford.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1972 to 1973.

He was a member of the Medford Moose Lodge and an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. His first love was music, and he also enjoyed fishing and reading.

Survivors include two sons, Robert, Medford, and Dale Jr., Portland; a daughter, Felica Burton, Medford; his parents, Robert and Louise Burton, Medford; a sister, Pamela Owen-Pratt, Medford; and a brother, Norman, Folsom, Calif.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

Donald Leo Pegg

The graveside service for Donald Leo Pegg will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford. Pastor Marion Clarkson will officiate.

Mr. Pegg, 66, of Medford, died Tuesday (Dec, 1, 1998) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Hospice, 2825 E. Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born June 16, 1932, in Blanche, Mo.

On March 22, 1988, in Virginia City, Nev., he married Lynn Anderson, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1985 from Reno, Nev.

Mr. Pegg was a millworker. He also was a tour and travel bus driver in Nevada.

He was a member of the Medford Eagles Lodge and enjoyed playing guitar, gardening and boating.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Karen Lalack and Debra Nutter, both Dallas, Ore., and Teresa Pegg, Bullhead City, Ariz.; four sisters, Hazel Leek and Jean Bridges, both Medford, Vivian Oliver, Klamath Falls, and Ruby Riley, Alturas, Calif.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Willis and Jackie Pigg; four half brothers; and a half sister.

Clarence M. Reeves

Clarence M. Reeves, 76, of Gold Hill, died Sunday (Nov. 29, 1998) at his home. No service is planned.

He was born Sept. 20, 1922, in Gustine, Texas.

Mrs. Reeves moved to the Rogue Valley 22 years ago.

He was a construction carpenter.

Mr. Reeves served in the U.S. Navy.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include two sons, James and John, both Gold Hill; and a daughter, Ardith Firnekas, Canyonville. His wife, Evelyn, preceded him in death.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.

O. John Zenor

O. John Zenor, 81, formerly of Medford, died Saturday (Nov. 28, 1998) in Scottsdale, Ariz., where he was living. A memorial service was held Wednesday at the Messinger Mortuary Chapel in Scottsdale.

He was born June 6, 1917, in Saco, Mont.

Mr. Zenor retired a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force and served during World War II.

He also was a retired State Farm insurance agent.

Mr. Zenor lived in Medford for 10 years and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

He moved to Arizona 28 years ago from Oregon.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Zenor, Scottsdale; two daughters, Joan Zenor and Cherie Gossett; two sons, John and Robert; three sisters, Althea Warren, June Rouse and Florence Sousa; a brother, Wes Heying; and 10 grandchildren.

Arrangements: Messinger Mortuary & Chapel, Scottsdale.

Thomas R. Hudson Jr.

The memorial service for Thomas Russell Hudson Jr., former Mail Tribune advertising director, will be at 2 p.m. today in St. Mark's Episcopal Church. The Rev. David Close will officiate.

Mr. Hudson, 77, of Medford, died Sunday (Nov. 29, 1998) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 212 N. Oakdale Ave., Medford, OR 97501, or to a favorite charity.

He was born Nov. 11, 1921, in The Dalles.

On April 5, 1947, in Eugene, he married Pauline Gordon, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 30 years ago from John Day.

Mr. Hudson worked in the Mail Tribune advertising department for 19 years until his retirement. Earlier he was editor and publisher of the Blue Mountain Eagle in John Day.

He served in the U.S. Army in the American and European theaters during World War II, and in Germany during the army occupation. He achieved the rank of captain and was awarded two Bronze Stars.

Mr. Hudson held a bachelor of science degree in business and journalism from the University of Oregon.

In the 1950s, he served four years in the Oregon House of Representatives.

He was an 11-year member of the Jackson County Highway and Water District and active in the Medford Elks Lodge and Medford Rotary. He was named Wasco County Man of the Year in 1955, was president of The Dalles Kiwanis Club in 1948 and 1972, and a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Paul Harris Fellow.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Thomas Edward, San Jose, Calif.; a daughter, Heidi Hudson Baer, Folsom, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.
