Robert Larson
Robert E. Larson, 63, of Prospect, died Friday (Dec. 11, 1998) at his home. No service is planned.Memorial contributions may be made to the Prospect Ambulance Fund, in care of the Postmaster, Prospect, OR 97536.
Mr. Larson was born on Dec. 27, 1934 in Klamath Falls.
On Dec. 4, 1954 in Prospect, he married Juanita Chandler, who survives.
As a boy, Mr. Larson achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, Boy Scouting's highest honor. He was a Boy Scout leader and a Little League coach.
Before retirement, Mr. Larson worked as a timber faller.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Michael Larson, Oakridge, and David Larson, Shady Cove; two sisters, Sidney Parr, Portland, and Helen Pierce, Roseburg; and four grandchildren.

Hazel Marie Nelson
The graveside service for Hazel Marie Nelson will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. Bob Wood of Redwood Christian Church in Grants Pass will officiate.
Mrs. Nelson, 80, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday (Dec. 2, 1998) in Laurel Hills Nursing Center.
She was born Hazel Marie Adams on Aug. 9, 1918, in The Dalles.
On June 20, 1953, in Reno, Nev., she married Oscar G. Nelson, who died in 1997. She lived in the Rogue Valley most of her life.
Mrs. Nelson was a civilian bus and truck driver at McClelland Field.
She was a volunteer at Loaves & Fishes, Senior Citizens Center and was a member of Live Oak Grange in Rogue River.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Betsill, Grants Pass; a son Darrell R. Oliver, Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Etta M. Higgins, Williams; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care.
Zella Belle Snyder
Zella Belle Snyder, 94, formerly of Medford, died Tuesday (Dec. 1, 1998) at Park Manor Rehabilitation Center in Walla Walla, Wash. A private burial will be in the Phoenix Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
She was born Zella Belle Pefley on Nov. 11, 1904, in Eureka, Calif. She attended church school in Medford through the eighth grade and then went to Sutherlin Academy in Sutherlin to finish her education. She graduated in 1924 as valedictorian and class secretary.
On Jan. 27, 1927, in Manteca, Calif., she married Ira M. Snyder, who died Feb. 7, 1983.
Mrs. Snyder was a nurse and made house calls in the Modesto, Calif., area.
The Snyders moved to Medford in the early 1930s, where they built and maintained the family farm.
Mrs. Snyder was a homemaker. She made surveyor stakes for the county and sold milk and eggs.
They moved to Walla Walla in 1982.
Mrs. Snyder was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and a member of the Walla Walla College Church, College Place.
She enjoyed reading, camping, and birdwatching.
Survivors include a son, Larry, Caldwell, Idaho; two daughters, Irita Entze, Walla Walla, and Sharon Studebaker, Pendleton; a sister, Lois Brooks, Gold Beach; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Virginia Ann, in 1941; and a sister, Vera May Pefley in 1909.

Rosa May Pearce
Rosa May Pearce, 90, of Medford, died Saturday (Nov. 28, 1998) at Rogue Valley Manor Health Care Center. No service is planned. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
She was born Rosa May Phares on May 2, 1908, in Grand Junction, Colo.
On Aug. 3, 1931, in Los Angeles, Calif., she married Arthur Wallace Pearce, who died in 1988. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Yuba City, Calif. in 1985.
Mrs. Pearce was an accountant for over 50 years with many different companies before becoming self-employed.
She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include a niece, Shirley Krainert, Napa, Calif. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gail Jay Phares, and a sister, Lala Ruth Cade.

Roger George Ellis
The memorial service for Roger George Ellis will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at Hope Presbyterian Church, 515 Broadway, Rogue River.
Mr. Ellis, 80, of Rogue River, died Nov. 25, 1998, at his home.

The memorial service for Robert Frank James will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Southwest Church of the Nazarene, Medford. The Rev. Don Farnsworth and members of the Medford Police Department will officiate.
Mr. James, 83, of Medford, died Thursday (Dec. 3, 1998) at his home.
He was born July 1, 1915, in Walla Walla, Wash.
In Reno, Nev., he married Ellen O. Sullivan, who survives.
He lived in the Rogue Valley most of his life; he was a Medford police officer for 29 years.
He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Mark, Portland, and Frank, San Francisco; two sisters, Isabel Stelle, Medford, and Winnabelle Crooks, in New Mexico; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother, Milton.

Ruth V. Roberts
The graveside service for Ruth Virginia Roberts will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland. A memorial service follows at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 44 N. Second St., Ashland. The Rev. Clifford Blinman will officiate.
Mrs. Roberts, 78, of Ashland, died Thursday (Dec. 3, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born Ruth Woodward on June 27, 1920 in San Pedro, Calif. After graduating from high school, she attended San Jose State University and worked in San Francisco during World War II.
In 1943, in Cambridge, Mass., she married Fred C. Roberts, who survives. They moved to Ashland in 1953, where they operated Bagley Canning Company.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Daniel A. Roberts and Gary G. Roberts, both Talent; and C. Fred Roberts, Portland; one sister, Norma Tiffany, Reno, Nev.; and three grandchildren.

Norma Louise Keller
Norma Louise Keller, 77, of Ashland, died Tuesday (Dec. 1, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private service is planned.
She was born April 27, 1921, in Mineral Springs, Texas.
She served in the Women's Army Corps.
She moved to the Rogue Valley a year ago from Anaheim Hills, Calif. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Cherie Suste, Medford; a brother, Moe Keller, Houston, Texas; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Roger Jordan Dew
The memorial service for Roger Jordan Dew will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ashland Christian Center, 188 Garfield St., Ashland. Pastor Ron Timen will officiate.
Mr. Dew, 86, died Friday (Dec. 4, 1998) at Farmington Square.
He was born on Oct. 4, 1912, in Aberdeen, S.D.
On May 9, 1933, in Grants Pass, he married Enid Faye Dressler, who survives.
Mr. Dew lived in the Rogue Valley for more than 75 years. He worked for the Southern Oregon Scaling Bureau in Medford until his retirement in 1977.
He was a member of the Jacksonville Kiwanis.
He enjoyed collecting coins and rocks, gardening, photography and woodworking.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Stan, Ashland, and Tom, Medford; one daughter, Virginia, Klamath Falls; a brother, retired Navy Capt. Lowell "Ike" Dew, Medford; a sister, Evelyn Nye, Medford; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Randall Dew, and a sister, Virginia Sherwood.
