Dolores `Dee' Sykes
The graveside service for Dolores "Dee" Sykes will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Alvin Brenhaug will officiate.
Mrs. Sykes, 62, of White City, died Monday (Dec. 7, 1998) at Hearthstone.

She was born Dolores Caughie on Jan. 14, 1936, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
On March 6, 1961, in Idaho Falls, she married James J. Sykes, who died in 1995. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Idaho Falls in 1970.
Mrs. Sykes was a homemaker.
She enjoyed country music, camping, crafts, and writing to pen pals.
Survivors include six sons, Ron Townsend, White City, Roy Sykes, Talent, Jesse Sykes, Central Point, Bobby Chisem, Medford, Jimmy Chisem, White City, and Brent Sykes, Idaho Falls; four daughters, Sandra Burleigh and April Hamilton, both White City, Janet Sykes, Central Point, and Ruby McGee, Reno, Nev.; a brother, Floyd Caughie, Firth, Idaho; a sister, Elma Colby, Idaho Falls; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Sue Sykes, a son, Bobby Shrives, three brothers, Dick, Pete and Delbert, three sisters, Idella Hunt, Violet Williams and Irene Shrives, and two grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Central Valley Chapel, Central Point.
Ralph Prentice Hurst
The memorial service for Ralph Prentice Hurst will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rogue Valley Christian Church, 1440 S. Oakdale, Medford. The Rev. James R. Larsen of Rogue Valley Christian Church will officiate.
Mr. Hurst, 60, a former Medford resident who most recently lived in Klamath Falls, died Saturday (Dec. 5, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born April 3, 1938, in Wayne County, Ky.
Mr. Hurst was the electrical inspector for the city of Medford for 16 years. Four years ago, he moved to Klamath County and was an electrical inspector there as well.
He was a member of the Electrical Workers Local Union No. 659 and the International Association of Electrical Inspectors.
Mr. Hurst enjoyed his family and his work and was a University of Kentucky basketball fan.
Survivors include a son, Robert, Medford; three daughters, Kim S. Hurst-Cocchiara, Central Point, Rebekah E. Hurst-Baladad, Medford, and Breanna Massey, Chico, Calif.; two sisters, Pauline Bryant and Betsy Paschal, both of Louisville, Ky.; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Hurst, and two brothers, Robert and Joe Hurst.

Lacey A. Benjamin
The funeral for Lacey Angharad Benjamin will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes in Portland. Interment will be in Lone Fir Cemetery, Portland.
Mrs. Benjamin, 29, a former Ashland resident who most recently lived in Tigard, died Saturday (Dec. 5, 1998) in Portland.

She was born Lacey Angharad Bunch on July 8, 1969, in Portland, a daughter of Jerry and Judie Bunch. She moved to Ashland as an infant and lived there most of her life.
On June 15, 1993, in Gold Hill, she married Kenneth S. Benjamin, who survives. After her marriage she lived in Reno, Nev., and then moved to Portland two years ago.
Mrs. Benjamin was a homemaker.
She attended Ashland Bible Church for most of her life.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Devin, Tigard; her parents, Jerry and Judie Bunch, Talent; two brothers, Steven Bunch, Talent, and Paul Bunch, Eugene; and a sister, Ceridwyn Bunch, Portland.

Richard `Mark' Firman
The memorial service for Richard "Mark" Firman will be at 5 p.m. Friday in Central Valley Chapel. Doug Higuera of Trail Christian Fellowship will officiate.
Mr. Firman, 38, of Eagle Point, died Monday (Dec. 7, 1998) at his home.
He was born Aug. 22, 1960, in Long Beach, Calif. He moved to the Rogue Valley three years ago from Riverside, Calif.
Mr. Firman was a mechanic and worked in oil fields.
Survivors include a son, David, Chino Valley, Ariz.; his parents, Allan and Mary Moore Firman, Eagle Point, two sisters, Linda Ulrey and Pat Richardson, both of Eagle Point; and a brother, Allan Jr., Homeland, Calif.

Mildred Blachly Ward
The funeral for Mildred Martha Blachly Ward will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Siskiyou Chapel. The Rev. John Braund of the First Presbyterian Church of Phoenix will officiate. Interment will follow at Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ward, 83, of Medford, died Monday (Dec. 7, 1998) at her home.

She was born Mildred Martha Gatke on June 9, 1915, in New York, N.Y.
On Aug. 31, 1940, in Reno, Nev., she married Benjamin Bell Blachly, who died in 1955. They settled in Medford following World War II.
On March 12, 1964, in Reno, Nev., she married Arthur J. Ward, who survives. Following their marriage, they moved to Sacramento, Calif. They returned to the Rogue Valley in 1983 to raise her grandson.
Mrs. Ward was an active member of the Pithian Sisters and was involved with the Senior Gleaners.
She was a seamstress and enjoyed traveling, playing the piano and organ, and tending her garden.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Cynthia Blachly-Ward, Carmichael, Calif.; two sons, Wayne Blachly, Clear Lake, Calif., and Edward Hisgen, Deer Park, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Blachly.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to noon and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, and from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Siskiyou Chapel.

Rieta Clare Hill
The memorial service for Rieta Clare Hill will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Savage St. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grants Pass.
Mrs. Hill, 89, of Grants Pass, died Sunday (Dec. 6, 1998) at her home.

She was born Rieta Clare Ryde on April 27, 1909, in La Crosse, Kan.
On Sept. 16, 1930, in La Crosse, she married Cecil Harley Hill, who preceded her in death. She moved to Grants Pass from Oakland, Calif. in 1943.
Mrs. Hill was an elementary school teacher. She taught for one year at Provolt and for 30 years in Murphy.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mrs. Hill enjoyed sewing.
Survivors include a daughter, Marleen Legenbauer, Susanville, Calif.; a sister, Ra Ra Rucker, Medford; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ra Ra Johnson.

Goldie May Volpi
The graveside service for Goldie May Volpi will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Del Cline will officiate.
Mrs. Volpi, 77, of Talent, died Tuesday (Dec. 8, 1998) at her home.
She was born Goldie May Gray on Feb. 21, 1921, in Bussey, Iowa.
On Aug. 16, 1966, in Tijuana, Mexico, she married Eldin J. Volpi, who survives.
Mrs. Volpi was a homemaker. The Volpi family owned and operated the Farmers Cafe in Talent, Handy San and Tots & Tykes Daycare.
She was a member of the Talent Lioness Club and the Order of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Volpi belonged to the Applegate Christian Fellowship in Ruch and Ashland Christian Fellowship.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her children, Dwaine Davis, Medford, Peggy Millard, Phoenix, William Rowe, Talent, Linda Rowe, Central Point, Coreen Cline, Coos Bay, Lester Michael Davis, Spanaway, Wash., Patrick Davis, Boise, Idaho, and Raymond Volpi, Terry Baird and Tony Volpi, all of Clearfield, Utah; three sisters, Elsie Kephart, Tucson, Ariz., and Dorothy Dorothy, and Grace Sample, both of Albia, Iowa; 24 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Floyd Gray, Bernice Hartman and Pearl Campbell.

Ruth Caroline Sieg
The memorial service for Ruth Caroline Sieg will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery, 2763 Riley Road, Eagle Point. The Rev. Joseph Shirey of the Veterans Affairs Domiciliary will officiate.
Mrs. Sieg, 76, of Medford, died Wednesday (Dec. 9, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born Ruth Caroline Mix on June 30, 1922, in South Dakota.
In 1941, in Council, Idaho, she married Harold "Jack" L. Sieg, who died in 1992. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Idaho in 1944.
Mrs. Sieg was a member of the Good Sams R.V. Pairs.
She enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and crocheting.
Survivors include two sons, Dan, Jacksonville, and Carl, Medford; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
