George LeRoy Knight
George LeRoy Knight, 64, of Ashland, died Friday, July 13, 2001 at the Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford. Private family services have been held.
Mr. Knight was born November 4, 1936 in Medford. He was salutatorian of Klamath Union High School Class of 1954. He was a business graduate of the University of Oregon.
Mr. Knight served in the U.S. Navy, founded three businesses, and worked for 30 years in the business forms industry. He was the first Certified Forms Consultant in Oregon and a long-time member of the Data Processing Management Association and Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Angie, of Ashland; two daughters, Theresa McCoy of Central Point,, and Joanie Knight of The Dalles.; two brothers, Richard Knight of Las Vegas, Nev., and David Knight of Albany, Ore.; one sister, Patricia Scully of Yakima, Wash.; his mother, Lolita "Corky" Knight of Talent; and three grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory in Ashland.
Irma M. Hoff
Irma M. Hoff, 76, of Talent died Thursday, July 12, 2001 at her home. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2001 at the Valley Bible Fellowship, 616 S. Pacific Hwy. in Talent. Pastor Bob Huntoon of the Valley Bible Fellowship will officiate. Interment will be at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose, Calif.

Irma M. Hoff was born November 27, 19244 in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia. In 1945, she married Desider K. K. Weisz, who preceded her in death. In 1969, in San Jose, Calif., she married Harold O. Hoff, who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hoff resided in San Jose, Calif., from 1950 to 1997 after immigrating from Europe.
She moved to the Rogue Valley in December of 1997.
As a teenager during World War II in Czechoslovakia, Irma and her family endured many hardships while helping those in need, including hiding a Jewish woman in their home whose husband had been sent to a concentration camp. When Irma immigrated to the U.S. with her family, she continued caring for others and was always the first one to help if a neighbor was ill. Her life was characterized by selflessness, generosity, and a firm faith in God, who gave her strength.
Survivors include a son, Paul Weisz of San Jose, Calif.; a daughter, Margaret Daly of Phoenix, Ore.; her mother, Margaret Paulsen of Ashland; a brother, John Paulsen of San Jose, Calif.; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Peter Weisz, and her father, John Paulsen, Sr.

Elizabeth E. Walker
Private family memorial services will be held for Elizabeth E. Walker, 97, of Ashland, who died Friday, August 24 at her home.
Walker was born February 4, 1904 in New Haven, Conn., to George and Bertha Eliason. On Dec. 16, 1926 at West Palm Beach, Fla. she married Robert Stuart Walker, who preceded her death in 1959.
Mrs. Walker came to Ashland in November 2000 from Yerington, Nev., where she lived for twenty-two years.
She is survived by two daughters, Roberta Stebbins of Ashland, and Elizabeth McMillen of Austin, Texas; four brothers, Harold Eliason of North Haven, Conn; Chester Eliason of Mt. Dora, Fla.; Clarence Eliason of Dighton, Mass.; Alton Eliason of Northford, Conn. ; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild.
Arrangements are in the care of Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home & Crematory.
Genevieve M. Hughes
Genevieve Hughes, 105, formerly of Ashland, died Sunday, August 26 in Stockton, Calif. Arrangements are being made by Hillcrest Mortuary.

Dorothy M. Kelly, 76, of Medford died Wednesday, September 5, 2001 at her home. Arrangements are under the direction of Hillcrest Mortuary.
Wayne M. Hood
Wayne M. Hood, 71, of McMinnville, Ore., and formerly of Ashland, died Thursday, September 6, 2001 at his home.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at Bethel Baptist Church. Interment will be at Yamhill-Carlton Pioneer Cemetery.

Wayne Hood was born October 22, 1929 in Portland, Ore., to Orvil C. and Vera M. Frakes Hood. He was raised in Portland and graduated from Benson Poly Tech in 1947. He attended Oregon State College where he received his degree. He was activated into the U.S. Navy, serving on the submarine USS Blue Gill, followed by 16 years in the Navy Reserves. After serving in the military, he moved to Hillsboro and taught at Hillsboro High for two years. He married Jeanne Youngberg on July 10, 1954 in Carlton, Ore. He had a master's in Science and in Education from Oregon State University. In 1959, he moved to Ashland and was a professor at Southern Oregon University until 1990, at which time he retired to the Harry Youngberg Century Farm in Carlton, Ore. He was an active member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Hood of McMinnville, Ore.; four sons, Andrew Hood, Clifford Hood, and Douglas Hood, all of Portland, Ore., and Ronald Hood of Edmond, Wash.; a sister, Phyllis McCrae of Salem, Ore., and two grandchildren.
Kara Jeffries (Beckett), Dean "Dino" Beckett, Jr., and Dean Beckett Sr.
Kara Jeffries (Beckett), 34, and Dean "Dino" Beckett, Jr., 34, of Ashland, and Dean Beckett, Sr., 61, of Tennant, Calif., died in a plane crash Wednesday, September 5, 2001. Combined memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at the KenDel Ranch in Tennant, Calif.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the educational trust fund for the children of Kara and Dean, Jr. Donations are being accepted at the Ashland branch of the Umpqua Bank, P.O. Box 36, Ashland, Ore. 97520.
Kara Jeffries (Beckett) was raised in Scottsdale, Ariz., the daughter of Norma Jeffries. She and her husband, Dean Beckett, Jr., helped run the Beckett and Beckett Christmas Tree Company in Macdoel, Calif. They had lived in Ashland for the past four years. She was a loving wife and mother of four children, Jamie, Will, Meg, and Abby, who survive.
Dean "Dino" Beckett, Jr., was born and raised in Susanville, Calif. He was a partner in Beckett and Beckett Christmas Trees, a company that had won many industry awards. He is survived by his mother, Donna Beckett, his sister, Janet Beckett, and his four children, Jamie, Will, Meg, and Abby.
Dean Beckett, Sr., was born and raised in Susanville, Calif. He and his father were early pioneers in the Christmas tree industry and the company they founded in the early 1950s is still winning industry awards for excellence. In addition to Christmas trees, Mr. Beckett was involved in many other businesses such as wind turbines, cattle ranching, real estate, and mining. He was also an experienced pilot, having an instrument flight rating. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Donna Beckett, his mother, Vada Beckett, his daughter Janet Beckett, and six grandchildren.
