Don Day Hartley
The graveside service for Don Day Hartley will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford. Brant Rigby of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Medford, will officiate.
Mr. Hartley, 63, of Central Point, died Tuesday (Dec. 29, 1998) at his home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Hospice, 2825 E. Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504.
He was born June 19, 1935, in Cedar City, Utah.
Mr. Hartley moved to the Rogue Valley 42 years ago from Utah.
On Nov. 3, 1956, in Medford, he married Mavis B. Stephenson, who survives.
Mr. Hartley retired in 1990.
He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed working on old cars, camping and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Marty Holland, Dawn Palmerton and Robin Plankenhorn, all Medford; his mother, LaVonda Beaver, Eagle Point; two sisters, Hazel Knudsen, Oxnard, Calif., and Clarece Hunt, in Utah; and eight grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.
June E. Carlson
The funeral Mass for June E. Carlson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the River Catholic Church, Rogue River. The Rev. Todd Molinari will officiate. Interment will be in Woodville Cemetery, Rogue River.
Mrs. Carlson, 72, of Rogue River, died Monday (Dec. 28, 1998) at Three Rivers Community Hospital, Grants Pass.

She was born June Smith on Jan. 8, 1926, in Oakland, Calif.
Mrs. Carlson moved to the Rogue Valley 18 years ago.
She was an artist and teacher.
She was a member of Our Lady of the River Catholic Church and Birdie's Nest Quilting Group.
Survivors include a son, Lance, Reno, Nev.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon L.; and a son, Larry B.

Jess Donald Williams
Jess Donald Williams, 83, of Medford, died Tuesday (Dec. 29, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service was held.
He was born July 2, 1915, in Friant, Calif.
In 1966, in Fresno, Calif., he married Marjorie Miller, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Williams built logging roads for Bretz Logging in Bretz Mill Camp, Calif., in the 1940s and 1950s. Later he worked in Bandon until moving to Newport, Wash., where he worked for Monks Brothers.
He moved to Medford three years ago from Newport, Wash.
Mr. Williams was a wildlife naturalist and enjoyed fishing and being in the woods.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Kastens, Cave Junction, and Bonnie Stockton, Newport, Wash.; a son, George, Cuba, Mo.; a brother, Clarence, Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Opal Allen, Squaw Valley, Calif., and Dorothy Thompson, Taft, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Troy Lee Beaver
Troy Lee Beaver, 58, of Gold Hill, died Saturday (Dec. 26, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned.
He was born June 2, 1940, in Smithville, Okla.
Mr. Beaver was an equipment operator and truck driver.
He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 from Sacramento, Calif.
Mr. Beaver enjoyed making people laugh, motorcycles and cooking.
Survivors include his companion, Donese O'Donnell, Gold Hill; three daughters, Michelle O'Donnell and Kathleen O'Donnell, both Gold Hill, and Cheryl Beaver, Sacramento; a son, Phillip, Sacramento; his mother, Willie Beaver, Witter, Ark.; two brothers, Gary and Gilbert; four sisters, Olney, Martha, Marie and Linda; and a grandson. He was preceded in death by his father, Luther.

Carl LeeRoy Boss
The memorial service for Carl LeeRoy Boss will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Valley View Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3806 S. Stage Road, Medford.
Mr. Boss, 66, of White City, died Wednesday (Dec. 30, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 28, 1932, in Tilden, Neb.
On June 1, 1957, he married Mary Elvira Starr, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1969 from California.
Mr. Boss enjoyed reading and gardening.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Todd, White City, and Ted, Medford; a daughter, Carla Bratager, Raleigh, N.C.; his parents, Mert and Hazel Boss, Veneta; two brothers, Guy, Phoenix, Ariz., and Don, Richland, Wash.; two sisters, Hazel Jean Reid, Elmira, and Lillian Thompson, Twin Falls, Idaho; and three children.

Helen R. Williams
The graveside service for Helen R. Williams will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Williams, 74, formerly of Medford, died Monday (Dec. 28, 1998) in Portland.
She was born Helen Anderson on July 20, 1924, in Bend.
In October 1941, she married Charles L. Williams, who died in 1992. They came to the Rogue Valley in the early 1940s from Toketee Falls and moved to Portland 12 years ago.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Medford and Portland. She belonged to the Mount Scott Ward and worked at the Portland Temple.
Survivors include a son, Douglas L., Kennewick, Wash.; a daughter, Marsha K. Williams, Longview, Wash.; a sister, Shirley Hoffman, Portland; and two grandchildren.

Margaret Rose Watton
Margaret Rose Watton, 87, of Ashland, died Dec. 24, 1998, at Farmington Square in Medford. A private memorial service is planned.
She was born Margaret Van Balen on Aug. 8, 1911, in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Mrs. Watton was raised in Pittsburgh; Nashville, Tenn.; and Tampa, Fla.
She was crowned Miss Tampa in 1933 and then became a model in New York City.
In 1935, she married Louis Pierre Tingaud, who died in 1945.
Mrs. Watton was president and an active member of the PTA in the Staten Island, N.Y., Public School System.
In 1957, she married Alfred M. Watton, who died in 1981.
She lived in New York City and Bucks County, Pa., before moving to Ashland in 1989.
Survivors include a daughter, Adrienne Adams, Ashland; a sister, Mary Kirchin, Martinsville, N.J.; a brother, Garrett Van Balen, Temple, Fla.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Henry and Adrian Van Balen.

Alberta Jean Groomes
Alberta Jean Groomes, 78, of Medford, died Saturday (Dec. 26, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private memorial service will be held later. Inurnment will be in the family plot in Rush River Cemetery, Ukiah, Calif.

She was born Alberta Jean Dexter on Nov. 6, 1920, in Everett, Wash.
She moved to the Rogue Valley 25 years ago.
On Oct. 2, 1988, in Brookings, she married Ted C. Groomes, who survives.
Mrs. Groomes was a secretary for Harry & David Corp. from 1973 to 1977 in the orchard department.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and enjoyed ballroom dancing, crocheting, camping and fishing, and reading.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Jack L. Holm, Henderson, Nev., and Thomas L. Holm, Weimar, Calif.; a daughter, Pamela J. Nix, Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A brother, Ray Brush, preceded her in death.
