Phyllis Mae McMahan
The graveside service for Phyllis Mae McMahan will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mrs. McMahan, 77, of Phoenix, died Friday (Jan. 8, 1999) at her brother's home in Medford.

She was born Phyllis Van Gordon on Dec. 30, 1921, in Las Vegas, Nev., and moved to the Rogue Valley in 1935.
On Nov. 16, 1970, in Honolulu, Hawaii, she married Walter McMahan, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. McMahan worked for Myron Root Packing and was a waitress for Bateman's Restaurant and Truck Stop in Medford.
She was a member of the Phoenix Presbyterian Church and enjoyed reading, fishing, dancing and visiting friends.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Olson, Tangent, and Norman Olson, Tacoma, Wash.; a brother, Clarence Van Gordon, Medford; a grandson; two step-granddaughters; a great-granddaughter; and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lyle and Lucian Van Gordon.

Mark Allen Davis
The memorial service for Mark Allen Davis will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Calvary Temple, Fifth and Pine streets, Central Point. Pastor Glenn Tucker will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Davis, 42, of Medford, died Wednesday (Jan. 6, 1999) at his home.
He was born Jan. 24, 1956, in Spokane, Wash.
Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Air Force as a jet mechanic.
He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1996 from Klamath Falls.
In 1997, in Ashland, he married D'Ann Swanigan on his and her birthday, Jan. 24.
Mr. Davis had been an Assembly of God minister.
He helped his wife as a day-care provider.
He enjoyed music, reading the Bible and watching jets in flight.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Dawn Davis, Medford, and Maisie Lin Davis, Cottage Grove; two sons, Tony, Medford, and Mark Allen II, Cottage Grove; his father and stepmother, Allen and Rosalee Davis, Tacoma, Wash.; four brothers, Jerry W. and Ivan, both Portland, Darrell, Los Angeles, and Anthony, Tacoma; and four sisters, Veronica J. Davis, Valerie J. Davis and Alesia F. Davis, all Tacoma, and Darhl Davis, Portland. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Faye Davis.

Avalon Marie Roberts
The memorial service for Avalon Marie Roberts will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Talent Friends Church. Pastor Dave Russell will officiate.
Mrs. Roberts, 78, of Talent, died Tuesday (Jan. 5, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Center, Medford.

She was born Avalon Lindstrom on June 19, 1920, in Los Angeles. She was raised in Reseda, Calif., and moved to Talent in 1940.
On Oct. 23, 1940, in Medford, she married William Roberts, who survives.
Mrs. Roberts was co-founder of the Talent Friends Church, where she was active in the food bank program and prayer chain.
She was a pianist and enjoyed crocheting, visiting the Oregon Coast, shells, driftwood and lighthouses.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, William Brian, Talent; two daughters, Judith Ann Ricks and Betty Jean Lanfear, both Medford; a sister, Leola Joyce Conner, Talent; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and a half-sister.

Ethel C. Houghton
Ethel C. Houghton, 98, of Medford, died Tuesday (Jan. 5, 1999) at Hearthstone. No service is planned.
She was born Ethel C. McGarry on March 31, 1900, in Cape Town, South Africa.
On Sept. 6, 1929, in Newberg, she married Waldo T. Houghton, who died in 1988. After her marriage, she lived in Downey, Calif., until she returned to Oregon in 1991.
Mrs. Houghton was a homemaker. She enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Shaw, Eagle Point; three sons, Ashley, Tulsa, Okla., Edward, Cupertino, Calif., and Kenneth, Yorba Linda, Calif.; a sister, Noreen Blair, Portland; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Mike and Dean Houghton.

Thelma D. Madray
The memorial service for Thelma Darleene Madray will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Church of the Nazarene. Pastors Craig Rench and Kevin Gowland will officiate.
Mrs. Madray, 82, of Medford, died Dec. 23, 1998, at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Thelma D. Beckwith on May 2, 1916, in Ostrander, Wash.
On Oct. 10, 1969, in Eureka, Calif., she married Earl J. Madray, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley 53 years ago from Albany.
Mrs. Madray was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Medford. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, fishing, and traveling.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Robert W. Hansen, Washington, and Richard L. Hansen, California; a sister, Jane Beamsley, California; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Forest and Delmer Beckwith, and a sister, Helen Johnson.

Betty Fraser-Smith
The funeral Mass for Betty Fraser-Smith will be at 11 a.m. today at Shepherd of the Valley Church, 600 Beebe Road, Central Point. The Rev. Jim Clifford of Shepherd of the Valley Church will officiate.
Mrs. Fraser-Smith, 90, of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 4, 1999) at her daughter's home in Medford.

She was born Betty Baranick on Oct. 24, 1908, in Austria. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Colorado in 1977.
In 1984, in Medford, she married Lewis Smith, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Fraser-Smith spent many years working for the Girl Scout organization. She was a member of St. Anne's Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters of America, Providence Guild, the Enid Rankin Center, Sojourners, and the Fifty Plus Club.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Terese Forde, Medford, Ellen Skidmore, Texas, and Marguerite Haskett, Colorado; two brothers; two sisters; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Bruce E. Phillips
Bruce E. Phillips, 51, of Eagle Point, died Thursday (Jan. 7, 1999) at Linda Vista Care Center, Ashland. No service is planned.
He was born Oct. 1, 1947, in Elmira, N.Y. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1995.
Survivors include a son, Eric, Hercules, Calif.; his father, Eugene, Medford; and a sister, Nancy Johnson, Vacaville, Calif.

Izola Theis
The funeral for Izola Theis will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Chapel in Medford.
Mrs. Theis, 94, of Medford, died Tuesday (Jan. 5, 1999) in Medford. Entombment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

She was born Izola Vaughn on Nov. 17, 1904, in Etna, Calif.
In 1934, in Vancouver, Wash., she married George W. Theis, who died in 1981. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Long Beach, Calif. in 1958.
Mrs. Theis was a bookkeeper. She worked for Montgomery Ward in Portland, American Wholesale Hardware in Long Beach, Calif., Bud's Tire, later known as General Tire, and for the Oregon Physician Service in Medford.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist.
Mrs. Theis enjoyed painting and was a member of two bridge clubs in Medford.
Survivors include many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Conger-Morris Funeral Home in Medford.
