Eleanor C. Hamilton
The funeral service for Eleanor Curry Hamilton will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Chapel, Bellinger and Arnold Lane, Medford. Pastor Mark Burton of Medford Friends Church will officiate. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hamilton, 96, of Central Point, died Sunday (Jan. 17, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Center.

She was born Eleanor Curry on Aug. 12, 1902, in Norton, Kan.
On June 12, 1938, in Santa Ana, Calif., she married Orville E. Hamilton, who died in 1982. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Alamosa, Colo., in 1928. She taught school in Colorado.
Mrs. Hamilton graduated from Marion College in Marion, Ind. before moving to Medford. She graduated from Ashland Normal School, now Southern Oregon University, in 1929, and received her bachelor of science degree in 1956.
Mrs. Hamilton was a teacher with the Medford School District for 40 years. She taught music, art and penmanship at Roosevelt and Lincoln Schools. She retired in 1968.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers Organization, the Medford First United Methodist Church Women's Organization, and was the last surviving charter member of Chapter B.E. PEO in Medford.
Survivors include two sons, Jack A., Central Point, and James W. Rogue River; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenneth Hamilton, in 1985; three brothers and five sisters.

Lela E. Hicks
Lela Elizabeth Hicks, 93, of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 18, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Center in Medford. No service is planned. Inurnment will be in Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, Calif.
She was born Lela Elizabeth Constable on Aug. 23, 1905, in Lees Summit, Mo.
On Aug. 20, 1928, in Sioux City, Iowa, she married Earl C. Hicks, who died in 1959. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Southern California in 1985.
Mrs. Hicks was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Central Point.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice Bourdon, Medford, Flora Zink, Yakima, Wash., and Nola Allioth, Lancaster, Calif.; three sons, Don and Clyde, both of Jacksonville, and Norval, Lucerne Valley, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, LaVern Anderson, in 1984, and Earl T. Hicks, in 1993; and a daughter, Frances White, in 1996.

Dick V. Taylor
Dick V. Taylor, 82, of Medford, died Saturday (Jan. 16, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Center. Entombment will be in Siskiyou Mausoleum, Medford.
He was born March 17, 1916, in Durant, Okla. He grew up in the South and graduated from high school in Shamrock, Texas.
On May 23, 1937, in Erick, Okla., he married Ramona McLemore, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Bahrain Island in the Persian Gulf in 1967.
Mr. Taylor worked for Lone Star Gas Co. in Texas, later moving to Bahrain Island to work for Babco Oil and Cal Tex Oil Co. After moving to the Rogue Valley he became the head of the Medford Water Commission until his retirement in the late 1980s.
He was a member of the Rogue Valley Country Club, and enjoyed golfing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Larry Wayne, Houston, Texas, and Jimmy Dick, St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Fletta; two brothers, Ray and Doyle; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Una May.

R. Dale Smith
R. Dale Smith, 59, of Central Point, died Thursday (Jan. 14, 1999) in Central Point. No service is planned.
He was born Feb. 8, 1939, in Medford. He was a lifetime resident of the Rogue Valley.
Mr. Smith was a cattle rancher in Central Point.
He served in the National Guard, and was a member of Future Farmers of America, 4-H and the Cattleman's Association.
Survivors include four sons, Guy and Dane, both Medford, Bradley, Jacksonville, and Michael, Erie, Colo.; a daughter, Wendy Smith, Medford; his mother, Irene Jennings, Central Point; his father, Chester Smith, Medford; a brother, Jon, Central Point; two sisters, Julie Erskine, Central Point, and Teresina Chirsty, Fairfax, Va.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Jennings.

Bessie J. Hendrickson
The memorial service for Bessie Jane Hendrickson will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Apostolic Faith Church, Port Angeles, Wash. The Rev. William Hanlin will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Angeles Memorial Park.
Mrs. Henrickson, 86, of Port Angeles, formerly of Medford, died Saturday (Jan. 16, 1999) in Port Angeles.

She was born Bessie Jane Stone on Dec. 30, 1912, in Independence, Va., and was raised in Hoquiam and Littlerock, Wash.
In July 1929, in Medford, she married Joseph L. Hendrickson, who died in 1967. She lived in Medford for 40 years, and moved to Port Angeles in 1968.
She attended the Apostolic Faith Church.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth, Hemet, Calif.; three daughters, Shirley Pescatore, Monahans, Texas, Sharon Owen, Port Angeles, Wash., and Linda Berger, Denver; a sister, Ruth Vance, Medford; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Warren.
Friends may pay their respects from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, Wash.
Arthur Weil
Arthur Weil, 80, of Prospect, died Thursday (Jan. 14, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned.

He was born Aug. 26, 1918, in New York City. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Arkansas in 1996.
Mr. Weil was a manager for trucking companies in Chicago and Arkansas for several years. After retiring in Arkansas, he moved to Prospect to be with his sister, Romaine, who cared for him.
He served in the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division.
Mr. Weil was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and enjoyed the history of war.
Survivors include a son, Donald, Wisconsin; a daughter, Jane Fletter, Denver; a sister, Romaine Weil, Prospect; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June.

James Bowers Hunt
The chapel service for James Bowers Hunt will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Central Valley Chapel. Interment will be in the Butte Falls Cemetery.
Mr. Hunt, 85, of Butte Falls, died Sunday (Jan. 17, 1999) at his home.
He was born Jan. 10, 1914, in Ponce de Leon, Fla.

On Sept. 12, 1936, in Visalia, Calif., he married Alice Crisp, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Sunnyvale, Calif. in 1962.
Mr. Hunt worked in plumbing and sheet metal fabrication for Canbys Plumbing, and Schlegels Plumbing in California, and for McLaughlin Plumbing in Medford.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was a member of Union Local 393 in San Jose, Calif. and Local 418 in Medford, and retired from Local 290 in Portland.
Mr. Hunt was a rockhound, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything mechanical.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, James F., Medford, and Frank G., Nevada City, Calif.; a daughter, Cleota Bush, Eagle Point; a brother, Allison, Tulare, Calif.; three sisters, Cleota Sullivan, Tulare, Calif., Inez Howell, Coalinga, Calif., and Janie Pendergrass, Walnut Creek, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Jessie Walker, Carl, Ray and Jessie Frank Hunt, and two sisters, Ruth Hunt and Hazel Williams.
Friends may pay their respects from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Central Valley Chapel.
John Summerfield
The graveside service for John Summerfield will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford. The Rev. Dwayne L. Brown of the First Presbyterian Church, Central Point, and the Medford Moose Lodge will officiate.
Mr. Summerfield, 89, of Central Point, died Saturday (Jan. 16, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Center, Medford.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
He was born April 13, 1909, in Stutsman County, N.D.
On Aug. 16, 1935, in Jamestown, N.D., he married Florence M. McKay, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1949, from Taft, Calif.
Mr. Summerfield was an electrician for Pacific Power and Light Company for 12 years, retiring in 1974.
During World War II he served in the Observation Corps in the Rogue Valley area, watching for enemy planes.
Mr. Summerfield was a member of the Electrical Workers Union and the Medford Moose Lodge.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Darryl, Central Point; a brother, Emil, Superior, Wis.; a sister, Lydia Widmer, Kimberly, Idaho; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Summerfield; a grandson, Eric Summerfield; and six brothers and sisters.
