Kenneth Dale Jordan

The memorial service for Kenneth Dale Jordan will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Applegate Christian Fellowship Hall.

Mr. Jordan, 41, formerly of Shady Cove, died Friday (Jan. 15, 1999) in Albuquerque, N.M. His home was in Mulberry, Ark.

He was born June 21, 1957, in Canyonville, and grew up in Shady Cove.

Mr. Jordan attended Eagle Point High School.

He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox, Ky., and was honorably discharged in 1975.

Mr. Jordan was a long-haul truck driver.

On May 16, 1977, in Wauchula, Fla., he married Violet Rose Miller. They moved to Mountainburg, Ark., where they lived until they divorced in 1992.

On Feb. 6, 1993, in Mulberry, he married Monta Sue Campbell, who survives.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Violet Marie Jordan, Talent; a son, Kenneth Dale Jr., Mountainburg; a stepdaughter, Heather Michelle Campbell, Mulberry; a stepson, Brandon Lee Campbell, Mulberry; his mother and stepfather, Marie and Richard Simpson, Shady Cove; a brother, John L., Gold Hill; a sister, Ellen L. Simonsen, Talent; six stepbrothers and stepsisters, all in California; and a granddaughter.

Arrangements: Edwards Van Alma Funeral Home, Alma, Ark.

Edith Elizabeth Banks

The graveside service for Edith Elizabeth Banks will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Jacksonville Cemetery. Dr. Lawrence Jung of the First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville will officiate.

Mrs. Banks, 100, of Medford, formerly of Jacksonville, died Sunday (Jan. 17, 1999) at her home.

She was born Edith Kropff on Oct. 20, 1898, in Richland, Kan.

Mrs. Banks attended college for seven years and received a bachelor of arts degree in rural education from West Texas University, which is now Texas A&M University.

She taught for 40 years in rural schoolhouses, first in Texas and later in Promise, Ore.

In 1963, she moved to the Rogue Valley from Wallowa.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville, senior citizens groups in Medford and Jacksonville and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include two nieces, Iola Hurst, Roswell, N.M., and Pearl Nickles, Pineville, Mo.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Marion Lester Huitt

Marion Lester Huitt, 84, of Central Point, died Wednesday (Jan. 20, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A memorial service will be held later. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Crater Lake Ave., Suite 10, Medford, OR 97504 or to a favorite charity.

He was born Oct. 30, 1914, in Wedderburn, a descendant of a Curry County pioneer family.

Mr. Huitt graduated from the Oregon School for the Deaf in Salem in 1933.

On Oct. 2, 1947, in Pocatello, Idaho, he married Evelyn L. Olson, who survives.

Mr. Huitt worked for the box factory in Klamath Falls for six years before moving to Central Point in 1945. He then worked in the Medco sawmill for 30 years, retiring in 1975.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen; and a sister, Irene Powell.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.

Patricia Marie Ledford

The memorial service for Patricia Marie Ledford will be at 10 a.m. today in Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grants Pass. The Rev. Jay Webber will officiate. Committal will follow in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Ledford, 65, of Grants Pass, died Sunday (Jan. 17, 1999) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue River Community Center, 132 Broadway St., Rogue River, OR 97537.

She was born Patricia Myers on July 24, 1933, in Bartlesville, Okla.

In 1975, she moved to Rogue River from Los Gatos, Calif.

She worked in central supply at Josephine Memorial Hospital for 18 years. When she retired, she moved to Grants Pass in November 1997.

She volunteered at the Rogue River Senior Center, which is now the Community Center, and enjoyed genealogy, crafts and her cat.

Survivors include two daughters, Beth Shatto, Grants Pass, and Linda Evans, Cameron Park, Calif.; two sons, Gary, Roseburg, and Dale, Klamath Falls; a sister, Gean Steadman, Rogue River; and six grandchildren.

Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Carly C. Manning

The memorial service for Carly Christina Manning will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's School, 816 Black Oak Drive, Medford. Pastor Dick Leightner of Foots Creek Chapel, Gold Hill, and Pastor Dan O'Donnell of Rogue Community Church, Rogue River, will officiate.

Carly, 13, of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 18, 1999) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Make A Wish Foundation of Oregon, 5319 S.W. Westgate Drive, Suite 113, Portland OR 97221, or National Brain Tumor Foundation, 785 Market St., Suite 1600, San Francisco, CA 94103.

She was born Nov. 15, 1985, in Oceanside, Calif. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Pennsylvania eight years ago.

Carly was a student at St. Mary's School.

She enjoyed writing, reading, movies, outdoor activities, playing with her dog and stuffed animals, playing games and Mariah Carey's music.

Survivors include her mother, Carole Manning, Medford; her father, Charles Manning, Canyon Lake, Calif.; two brothers, Tymon, Medford, and Dylan, Canyon Lake, Calif.; her maternal grandmother, Ellen Instance, Kent, England; her paternal grandparents, Barbara and Sid Manning, Downey, Calif.; and her great-grandfather, Les Holmlund, Heber City, Utah.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

William Howard Silvis

William Howard Silvis, 73, of Central Point, died Monday (Jan. 18, 1999) at his home. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation Hospice, 2825 E. Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born May 19, 1925, in East Palestine, Ohio.

On March 17, 1945, in Darlington, Pa., he married Gladys Benton, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley three years ago.

Mr. Silvis was a general contractor and steel fabricator.

He enjoyed playing pool and woodworking.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, James A., Central Point, and Gary William, Dublin, Calif.; two daughters, Rebecca Diane Berghoffer, Salem, and Gladys Marie Willmschen, Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Ruth Kacar, Akron, Ohio, and Hazel Walker, East Palestine, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a half-brother and two half-sisters.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care.

Alford `Kelly' Taylor

The memorial service for Alford "Kelly" Taylor will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, Vancouver, Wash.

Mr. Taylor, 84, of Vancouver, Wash., formerly of Central Point and Medford, died Monday (Jan. 18, 1999) in Vancouver.

He was born Sept. 4, 1914, in Central Point. He lived in the Medford area until 1952, when he moved to the Portland-Vancouver area.

On March 17, 1941, in Vancouver, Wash., he married Beatrice Ratty, who survives.

Mr. Taylor was employed in air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance.

He was a member of Pipe and Steamfitters Local No. 290.

Mr. Taylor enjoyed fishing.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Al Jr., Battle Ground, Wash.; a daughter, Patricia Poklemba, Burke, Va.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, Vancouver, Wash.

Ethel M. Toney

Ethel M. Toney, 96, of Gold Hill, died Sunday (Jan. 17, 1999) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born Ethel McCullough on Feb. 3, 1902, in Gainesville, Mo. She moved to Oregon from California in 1991.

Mrs. Toney owned a clothing store before her retirement.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Sharon Hedgpeth and Christina J.L. Jones, both of Gold Hill; and three great-grandchildren, Kathlyn Hedgpeth, Cory Hedgpeth, and Noah Jones, all of Gold Hill.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.
