Thelma Frances Baker
The cryptside service for Thelma Frances Baker will be at 3 p.m. today in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford. The Rev. David Close of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Medford will officiate. Entombment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Baker, 89, of Medford, died Friday (Jan. 29, 1999) in Medford.

She was born Thelma Frances King on Jan. 20, 1910, in Oklahoma City.
On July 1, 1950, in Medford, she married Ray F. Baker, who died in 1969.
Mrs. Baker was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, the Daughters of the Nile and the Girl Scouts of America.
Mrs. Baker enjoyed investing, gardening and animals.
Survivors include two nieces, Barbara Sands, Medford, and Christine Wanek, Smith River, Calif. She was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and several stepchildren.

Catherine M. Nelson
Catherine M. Nelson, 93, of Talent, died Monday (Feb. 1, 1999) at the Jackson House in Talent. A private service was held.

She was born Catherine M. Miller on Nov. 13, 1905, in Walla Walla, Wash.
In 1944, in Portland, she married Arthur Nelson, who preceded her in death. They moved to Ashland in 1946 from Portland.
The couple owned and operated several Texaco service stations, including one on Siskiyou Boulevard, at what is now the south end of the Southern Oregon University campus.
Mrs. Nelson was also a bookkeeper for Oregon Food Stores, now Buy Rite Market on Siskiyou Boulevard. She retired in the early 1980s.
She belonged to the Lady Elks and Soroptimist International. During her early years in Ashland she was also active with the Campfire Girls.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Jean Ballantyne, Pasadena, Calif.; a nephew, Robert Miller, Portland; and a niece, Dorothy Stangle, Portland. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Lawrence A. Bacher
Lawrence A. Bacher, 71, of Medford, died Saturday (Jan. 30, 1999) at his home. No service is planned.
He was born March 4, 1927, in Sarasota, Fla.
Mr. Bacher was a maintenance engineer at Fleishmans National Yeast Company for 25 years. He moved to Medford from Newark, Calif., in 1989, following his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1948.
Mr. Bacher was a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, SJ, USA, Acalanes Fellowship No. 480, Stationary Engineers Local No. 39, and the Oakland Motorcycle Club.
He enjoyed motorcycle racing, waterskiing, fishing and golf.
Survivors include his daughter, Sheri Talburt, Medford; his brother, Warren, Glendora, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

May Mamie Mosley
The graveside service for May Mamie Mosley will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Eagle Point National Cemetery, 2763 Riley Road, Eagle Point. The Rev. Gary Harding of North Valley Christian Center will officiate.
Mrs. Mosley, 83, of Medford, died Sunday (Jan. 31, 1999) at Hearthstone.

She was born May Mamie McAlmond on Aug. 13, 1915, in Round Potrero, Calif. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Socorro, N.M., in 1950.
Mrs. Mosley was a riveter/cutter in a B-29 factory during World War II. Prior to her marriage, she owned and operated a cattle ranch in New Mexico.
Survivors include a daughter, Elsie Fay Mosley, Central Point; four sons, David, Central Point, Leon, Cleve and Gordon, all of Medford; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy Denmin Mosely, in 1978; two sisters; and one brother.

Dean C. Sickenger
Dean Charles Sickenger, 73, of White City, died Monday (Feb. 1, 1999) at the Veterans Affairs Domiciliary in White City. No local service is planned.
He was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Jewell, Iowa. He moved to the Rogue Valley over 40 years ago from Jewell.
Mr. Sickenger was a cook at the Strand Cafe, which was owned by his father, Charles.
He served with the U. S. Coast Guard from 1943 until 1946.
Survivors include his mother, Esther Sickenger, Jewell; and two sisters, Patricia Price, Costa Mesa, Calif., and Cynthia Havinga, Webster City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry.

Donald `Ozzie' Corman
The memorial service for Donald Oscar "Ozzie" Corman will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Ashland Christian Fellowship, 50 East Hersey St., Ashland. A dessert potluck will follow the service. Private interment will be in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Corman, 72, of Ashland, died Saturday (Jan. 30, 1999) at his home.

He was born Oct. 31, 1926, in State College, Pa.
On Jan. 14, 1949, in Ocean City, N.J., he married Arlayne Mae Mock, who survives.
Mr. Corman was a jeweler and supervisor in the assembly of mass spectrometers in State College, Pa. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service in State College for 20 years in various distribution positions, as well as serving briefly as the officer in charge.
He was the person primarily credited with alerting the Treasury Department to the counterfeit stamp fraud of 1977, the discovery of which netted the Postal Service a $250,000 confiscation.
He served in the U.S. Army Occupation Forces in Germany in 1945 and 1946, and returned home with a pet dog, Jerry, that he had rescued.
In Philipsburg, Mr. Corman was a member of Hope Fire Company 2 and of the American Legion. He was commander of Legion Post No. 437 for three years, and was bi-county commander for the Pennsylvania Counties of Centre and Clearfield for one year. He also did hospice work, was a Cub Scout leader, and participated in prison ministry in Clearfield, Pa.
Mr. Corman moved to Ashland in 1994, where he served as president of the Ashland chapter of AARP, and treasurer of the Senior Club. He participated in a local cancer support group, and in the work of Loaves and Fishes.
He was a member of the Ashland Christian Fellowship.
Mr. Corman enjoyed Bible study, hunting and fishing, gardening and stamp and coin collecting.
Survivors include four daughters, Tanya Marie Riopel, Talent, Rosalie Jean Hockenberry, Hawk Run, Pa., Lisa Louise Colliver, and Teresa Lee Corman, both of Clearfield, Pa.; four sons, Bruce David, Ashland, John Philip Eugene, Sarasota, Fla., Neil Lawrence, Hawk Run, Pa., and Daniel Paul, Philipsburg, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Ann, in 1992.

Arlene C. Petersen
The memorial service for Arlene C. Petersen will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Siskiyou Chapel, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd., Medford. The Rev. Dr. Emmett Shortreed of the First United Methodist Church, Medford, will officiate.
Mrs. Petersen, 79, of Phoenix, died Saturday (Jan. 30, 1999) at her home.

She was born Arlene C. Cannon on July 29, 1919, in Paris, Ill.
On June 5, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wis., she married Thomas G. Petersen, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Milwaukee 23 years ago.
Mrs. Petersen was a nurse's aide with the Ashland Community Hospital for 10 years, retiring in the mid-1980s.
She was an active volunteer for Rogue Valley Manor and Hearthstone for several years.
Mrs. Peterson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Medford, and belonged to the Women's Circle at the church.
She enjoyed physical activities, birdwatching, tending her roses, sewing and baking.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Stephen, Phoenix, David, Central Point, and Michael, Fond du Lac, Wis.; a daughter, Neena Petersen, Milwaukee; a sister, Emma Lou Tatum, Lake City, Fla.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Eva Cannon, Iva Fox, and Dora Ashley.

Lucius `Lu' E. Lull
The graveside service for Lucius "Lu" E. Lull will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Jacksonville Cemetery. Pastor Lee Gregory of the Medford Neighborhood Church will officiate.
Mr. Lull, 74, of Central Point, died Friday (Jan. 29, 1999) at his home.

He was born Dec. 22, 1924, in Medford.
On Aug. 3, 1952, in Medford, he married Joyce Marshall, who survives.
Mr. Lull owned and operated a granite hauling service in Medford for many years.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the Rhineland and Central Europe, and received a Purple Heart for wounds he sustained in the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Lull was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, David, Gateway, Ark.; a daughter, Teri White, Gateway; his mother, Helen Lull, Central Point; two sisters, Louise Lull, Central Point, and Mary McDonald, Hughson, Calif.; two brothers, Robert G. and Wilburt W., both Central Point; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Lucius; and three sisters, Phoebe Lull, Dorothy Henagin and Patricia Oberg.
