Ethel McGarity Fleenor
The funeral for Ethel Edith McGarity Fleenor will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 16, 1999) at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Don Baker of Ashland will officiate. Private interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland.
Mrs. Fleenor, 84, of Talent, died Thursday (Feb. 11, 1999) at a local foster home.
She was born Ethel Alvstad on March 12, 1914, in Tagus, N.D.
On Oct. 12, 1937, in Lakeview, she married Roy McGarity, who died in 1958.
They moved to Talent in 1944 and she worked for several years at the now-defunct Jackson County Farm Home on South Pacific Highway.
In February 1964, in Reno, she married Orval Fleenor, who died in 1980.
Survivors include two sons, Gary McGarity, Phoenix, and Eldon McGarity, Redding, Calif.; five sisters including her twin, Esther Johnson, Portland, and Guida Johnson, Lebanon, Tilda Christenson, Stanley, N.D., Christine Swenningsen, Helena, Mont., and Millie Stather, Minot, N.D.; four brothers, Olaf Alvstad, Glenn Alvstad and Elmer Alvstad, all Minot, and Rudy Alvstad, Tagus; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home.
Ann Frances Hart
Ann Frances Hart, 81, formerly of Phoenix, died Feb. 5, 1999, in Weed, Calif., where she was living. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was born Anna Frances Listapad on July 19, 1917, in Park River, N.D.
She lived for many years in California's San Fernando Valley, where she was a parts inspector for an aircraft company.
After living in Phoenix for 11 years, she moved to Weed one year ago.
She was a member of the Phoenix Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Steven "Barney" Mountz, Yreka, Calif.; a daughter, Barbara Mountz Forlano, North Hollywood, Calif.; a sister, Rosalie Gleason, Lewiston, Idaho; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joe.

Wendell H. Sessions
The memorial service for Wendell H. Sessions will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Siskiyou Chapel, Medford.
Mr. Sessions, 80, of Medford, died Wednesday (Feb. 10, 1999) at Hearthstone.

He was born April 7, 1918, in Shelley, Idaho. He was raised in Shelley and graduated from high school there in 1936.
On Oct. 19, 1943, in Los Angeles, he married Eva M. Bodey, who survives.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and attained the rank of master sergeant. He was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge and received a Silver Star and Purple Heart.
After his military service he attended business college and earned a degree in accounting.
Mr. Sessions was an accountant for a meat market chain in Los Angeles before moving to Portland.
He worked for a car dealership in Oregon City, then moved to Medford in 1949.
He worked for Medford Motors and in 1954 bought a half-interest in the dealership.
Mr. Sessions operated Medford Motors until his retirement in 1978.
He was a member of the Medford Elks Lodge and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Charles R., Eugene, Wendell L., Vancouver, Wash., and Jerry L., Houston, Texas; a daughter, Laurie A. Pursel, Medford; a brother, Gerald, in Washington; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mary Strasdin-Driscoll
Mary M. Strasdin-Driscoll, 91, of Grants Pass, died Monday (Feb. 8, 1999) at Royale Garden Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Grants Pass. Private interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.
She was born Jan. 8, 1908, in Boston, Mass.
As a child she moved with her family to British Columbia, where they homesteaded. Later they lived in Victoria, B.C., before returning to the United States.
In December 1925, in Vancouver, Wash., she married Elmer Hanson. They were divorced in 1935.
She moved to Portland, where she worked for Meier and Frank.
On Dec. 8, 1938, in Vancouver, Wash., she married John A. Drager. They were divorced in 1961.
She lived in Ashland from the late 1930s to the early 1960s, when she moved to Medford. In 1998, she moved to Grants Pass.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing and flower gardening, especially her roses. She was handy not only with a spade but with a hammer and saw as well.
She also was fluent in Lettish, her mother's native language of Latvia.
Survivors include four daughters, Joan Drager, Ashland, Annette Larrabee-Drager, Murphy, Lily Leighton, Eureka, Calif., and Elsie Grissis, Oroville, Calif.; a sister, Emma Thomas, Pleasant Hill; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Frances E. Mustain
The funeral for Frances Eleanor Mustain will be held today at Rose Hills Mortuary in Whittier, Calif. Timothy Jacobs will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hills Memorial Park.
Mrs. Mustain, 85, of Central Point, died Monday (Feb. 8, 1999) at the Medford Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.

She was born Frances Pesika on July 1, 1913, in Los Angeles.
On Aug. 30, 1930, in Los Angeles, she married Frederick William Mustain, who died in 1990.
Mrs. Mustain moved to Woodland Hills, Calif., in 1951, from Montebello, Calif.
She came to the Rogue Valley seven months ago from Woodland Hills to live with her son.
Mrs. Mustain enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Survivors include a son, Michael David, Central Point; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne Lee Jacobs in 1995; and a grandson.

Duane Francis Davis
Duane Francis Davis, 72, of Trail, died Sunday (Feb. 7, 1999) at his home. No service is planned.
He was born July 14, 1926, in Sultan, Wash.
Mr. Davis was a heavy equipment operator in construction. He also had worked on Elk Creek Dam driving a truck.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Davis was a member of the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include two sons, D. John, Shady Cove, and Duane J., Fort Scott, Ariz.; two daughters, Dianne M. Leever, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Susan M. Bales, Ozark, Mo.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A brother, William D., preceded him in death.

Geneva Ann Rhodes
The memorial service for Geneva Ann Rhodes will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Trail Christian Fellowship. Pastor Rick Booye will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Rhodes, 52, of Shady Cove, died Wednesday (Feb. 10, 1999) in Medford.

She was born Geneva Lowery on July 31, 1946, in Lee Creek, Ark. The family moved to the Rogue Valley in 1950.
On June 6, 1964, in Eagle Point, she married Steven Rhodes, who survives.
A beautician, Mrs. Rhodes owned and operated Geneva's Curly Q in Shady Cove for 25 years.
She was an active member of Trail Christian Fellowship. Her hobbies included crafts and she especially enjoyed watching and caring for wildlife.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her mother, Irene Garrison, Medford; a brother, Dale Lowery, Grants Pass; and a sister, Sharon Sutton, Shady Cove. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Lowery.

Alvin E. Chapman
Alvin E. Chapman, 79, of Medford, died Sunday (Feb. 7, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private graveside service is planned.

He was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Wakefield, Kan.
On Nov. 2, 1946, in Reno, Nev., he married Darlene Johnson, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Wakefield in 1937.
Mr. Chapman was a mill worker with Boise Cascade for over 30 years, retiring in 1982.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Chapman was a member of VFW Post 1833 in Medford.
He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Daniel A. and Bruce H., both of Eagle Point; a brother, Floyd, Harlingen, Texas; a sister, Ailene Earl, Greeley, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
