Joe A. Owen Jr.
The funeral for Joe. A. Owen Jr. will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove. Burial will be at the Fir Grove Cemetery, Cottage Grove.
Mr. Owen, 72, of Medford, died Friday (Feb. 12, 1999) in Medford.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Rogue Valley Medical Center Hospice Foundation, 2825 E. Barnett Road, Medford OR 97504.
He was born on Dec. 28, 1926 in Portland. He attended schools in Drain and lived in Drain and Cottage Grove.
On Nov. 9, 1948, in Kelso, Wash., he married Edna Addington, who survives.
Mr. Owen was self-employed as a log truck driver.
He was an early member of the Ford V-8 Club of America-Crater Lake Chapter of Medford, and owned a restored 1941 Ford.
He also was a member of the Valley River Baptist Church in Eugene.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Linda Studer, Aloha; two sons, Larry, Cottage Grove, and Mike, Sisters; a brother, Archie, Springfield; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Smith-Lund Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove.
G. Edwin Fjarli
The funeral for G. Edwin Fjarli will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford. Pastor Phil Welklin of the Seventh-day Adventist Church will officiate. Committal will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mr. Fjarli, 97, formerly of Jacksonville, died Thursday (Feb. 11, 1999) at Tualatin Hospital in Hillsboro.

He was born on Oct. 15, 1901, in Burwick, N.D.
On June. 14, 1927, at Granger, Wash., he married Grace L. Anderson, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Fjarli moved to the Rogue Valley in 1944 from Red Bluff, Calif., and, several years ago, moved to Hillsboro.
An orchardist for many years, Mr. Fjarli was one of the first in the valley to heat orchards with wind machines.
He helped build the Medford Seventh-day Adventist Church and Rogue River Academy and was an elder in the church.
Survivors include a son, Clyde, Medford; a daughter, Beverly Follett, Hillsboro; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a grandaughter, Kari Follett; a grandson, Joe Fjarli; four sisters; and a brother.
Friends may pay their respects from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.
Freddie Vance Bradford
The memorial service for Freddie Vance Bradford will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. Members of the Grants Pass American Legion, Post 28 will officiate.
Mr. Bradford, 55, of Medford, died Feb. 5, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Portland.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
He was born March 17, 1943, in Columbus, N.C.
He was raised in California and graduated from El Dorado High School, Placerville, Calif., in 1961.
Mr. Bradford served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
On Aug. 3, 1968, in Carson City, Nev., he married Janis K. Cannon, who survives.
He attended college in Price, Utah, where he studied to be a machinist.
Mr. Bradford moved to Oregon from Tucson, Ariz., in 1988, and came to the Rogue Valley in 1991 from Carson City.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and the Junior Rifleman's Association, and taught gun safety to children.
Mr. Bradford enjoyed hunting, especially with granddaughter Jessica Hinton; fishing, the mountains and desert exploration.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Denise J. Hinton, Eagle Point, and Tonia J. Haveron, Albany; a sister, Leona L. Duryea, Mason City, Neb.; his parents, Andy and Pearl Bradford, Camino, Calif.; a brother, Wiely E., Tucson; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Trena Bradford in 1970, and Windy J. Bradford in 1971.

James Richard Nale Jr.
The graveside service for James Richard Nale Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. Pastor James Larsen of Rogue Valley Christian Church, Medford, will officiate.
Mr. Nale, 42, of Medford, died Thursday (Feb. 11, 1999) at his home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Crater Lake Ave., Suite 10, Medford, OR 97504.
He was born Dec. 17, 1956, in Watsonville, Calif.
Mr. Nale had been a maintenance man at the Rogue Regency Inn in Medford since 1991.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1975 to 1979.
He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his father, James Richard, Medford; his mother and stepfather, Janice and Gerald Kelley, San Leandro, Calif.; a sister, Kathleen Ravera, San Mateo, Calif.; two stepsisters, Denise Swanson, Redwood City, Calif., and Debra Welch, Albuquerque, N.M.; and grandmother, Bea Kelley, Fairfield, Calif.

Nancy M. McMasters
The funeral Mass for Nancy Mary McMasters will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church in Central Point. The Rev. Jim Clifford will officiate.
Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mrs. McMasters, 65, of Medford, died Wednesday (Feb. 10, 1999) in her home.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on June 1, 1933.
On April 12, 1975, in North Hollywood, Calif., she married John K. McMasters, who died in 1997.
They moved to the Rogue Valley from Lake Tahoe, Calif. in 1995.
Mrs. McMasters was a legal secretary until her retirement.
She was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church, the Providence Hospital Guild, the Italian American Club of Medford and the Friendship Club of Rogue Valley Medical Center.
She enjoyed traveling, reading and needlepoint.
Survivors include two sisters, Lucy Sisney and Josephine Savarese, both of Medford; and nine nieces and nephews.

Frank Alexis Jr.
The funeral service for Frank Alexis Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Chapel in Medford. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Alexis, 95, of Medford, died Wednesday (Feb. 10, 1999) at his home.

He was born April 18, 1903 in Bakersfield, Calif.
On Oct. 15, 1923 in Bakersfield, he married Anna Azevedo, who died 1996.
They moved to the Rogue Valley from Bakersfield in 1992.
Mr. Alexis enjoyed farming, helping others and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Emily Crist, Medford; three sons, Richard P., North Powder, Fred M., Bakersfield, and Albert F., St. George, Utah; eight sisters, Mary Alexis of Arizona, and Frances Mena, Rose Dail, Adalene Alexis and Marguerite Barker, all of California; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Chapel, Medford.
Gunnar O. Nashlund
Gunnar O. Nashlund, 76, of White City, died Friday (Feb. 12, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private family service is planned.
He was born June 2, 1922 in Sweden.
On June 30, 1946, in Reno, he married Mary, who died in 1989.
They lived in Ashland from 1946 until 1989.
Mr. Nashlund worked at Parson Pine Products for more than 40 years, retiring as superintendent in 1989.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe.
He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
Survivors include a daughter, Kristen Hedberg, Medford; a son, Lars Nashlund, Olympia, Wash.; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
