Sarah Louise Steele
The funeral for Sarah Louise Steele will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Harvest Baptist Church, 2001 S. Columbus, Medford. The Rev. Bob Gass of Harvest Baptist Church will officiate.
Ms. Steele, 37, of Medford, died Monday (Feb. 15, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. She had been on dialysis for the past five years.

She was born on Sept. 30, 1961, in Sacramento, Calif. She grew up in the Rogue Valley, attending school in Ashland. She moved back to the Rogue Valley from Alaska in 1989.
Ms. Steele was a restaurant and retirement home cook.
She enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, photography, animals and volunteer work.
Survivors include her parents, Michael and Nancy Steele, Medford; two sisters, Regan Dailey, Talent, and Jody Steele-Thomasson, Eugene; and her grandfather, W.C. Woods, Medford.
Friends may pay their respects from 1 to 1:30 p.m. today at the Harvest Baptist Church.

Henry W. Weinhold
Henry W. Weinhold, 77, of Medford, died Wednesday (Feb. 17, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned.
He was born Sept. 24, 1921, in San Diego, Calif.
On Jan. 18, 1943, in Berkeley, Calif., he married Margaret Wright, who died in 1993. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990 from Walnut Creek, Calif.
Mr. Weinhold enjoyed traveling, reading and gardening.
Survivors include two daughters, Carole Curley, Surprise, Ariz., and Laura Dorigo, Gillette, Wyo.; two sisters, Betty Horvath, Cottage Grove, and Carolyn Hoffman, Walnut Creek; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael A., in 1979.

Lorraine E. Lewis
Lorraine Elizabeth Lewis, 81, of Ashland, died Feb. 12, 1999, at her home. A private service was held. Private interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
She was born Lorraine Ellis on June 15, 1917, in Charleston, W.V.
On July 14, 1950, in Spanaway Park, Wash., she married John Lewis, who survives.
They moved to Ashland in 1984.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Joseph K. and George V., both of Ashland; and a granddaughter.

Vivian Alice Martin
The memorial service for Vivian Alice Martin will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Foots Creek Chapel, Gold Hill. Pastor Dick Leithner will officiate with Pastor Lester Stephens assisting.
Mrs. Martin, 75, of Gold Hill, died Sunday (Feb. 14, 1999) at her home.

She was born Vivian Reeves on March 21, 1923, in Los Angeles.
Mrs. Martin and her husband, Richard A. Martin, moved to Gold Hill in 1975 from Fullerton, Calif.
She was a member of Foots Creek Chapel. Her hobby was quilting.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Donald Cox, Biloxi, Miss., John Klempner, Cucamonga, Calif., and Bill Warren, Ontario, Calif.; two daughters, Donna Hoffman, Fort Collins, Colo., and Charlene Bernhart, The Woodlands, Texas; two sisters,
Helen Born, Fullerton, Calif., and Ruby, in California; a brother, Milton Reeves, Fallbrook, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Alice Lorraine Michael
The graveside service for Alice Lorraine Michael will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford. The Rev. C. Bunny Oliver of First United Methodist Church, Medford, will officiate.
Mrs. Michael, 80, of Medford, died Wednesday (Feb. 17, 1999) in Medford.

She was born Alice Madsen on Dec. 22, 1918, in Ismay, Mont., and came to the Rogue Valley 76 years ago from Montana.
On Oct. 15, 1940, in Reno, she married Cecil Michael, who survives.
Mrs. Michael owned and operated Alice's Attic antique shop in Medford from 1972 to 1975. She worked for several Rogue Valley floral shops, including 25 years with Ginn's Floral.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, bird watching and writing poetry.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Carl, Medford; a daughter, Virginia Kula, Eagle Point; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rosalie Culy, in 1996; and two brothers who died at birth.

Margaret C. Starbuck
Margaret C. Starbuck, 54, of Ashland, died Sunday (Feb. 14, 1999) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born Margaret Alway on July 31, 1944, in Roseville, Calif. She moved to the Rogue Valley two years ago from Port Townsend, Wash.
Ms. Starbuck was a clerical worker for the University of California in Berkeley, Calif. She was also a basket weaver with a basket manufacturing company for several years.
Survivors include a daughter, Haden Starbuck, Port Townsend, Wash.

Floyd `Toby' Pierce
The funeral for Floyd "Toby" Pierce will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hope Lutheran Church, 2830 May Road, El Sobrante, Calif. Interment will follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery in Richmond. Calif.
Mr. Pierce, 57, of Phoenix, died Sunday (Feb. 14, 1999) at his son's home in Hercules, Calif.
He was born April 23, 1941, in Lodi, Calif., and grew up in Richmond. He lived in the Rogue Valley for 29 years.
Mr. Pierce was a process plant operator for Dyno for 17 years, and a truck driver with Teapot Limited for two years.
Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Kahangi, Hercules, Calif.; a son, Steven, Hercules; a brother, Roy, San Pablo, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Madeline Kennedy
Madeline Kennedy, 76, of Medford, died Sunday (Feb. 14, 1999) in Medford. The memorial service was held Wednesday in Hillcrest Chapel in Medford. Private interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

She was born Madeline Moon on Sept. 2, 1922, in Oil City, Texas.
On Sept. 9, 1940, in Carson City, Nev., she married George Robert Kennedy, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Klamath Falls in 1978.
Mrs. Kennedy was a homemaker.
She was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed cards and music.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Ken, Phoenix, and Gary, Fort Payne, Ala.; a daughter, Carol Sulffridge, Fort Payne, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Eugene Elihu Kent
The memorial service for Eugene Elihu Kent will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Medford. Dr. Emmitt Shortreed of First United Methodist Church will officiate.
Mr. Kent, 86, of Medford, died Monday (Feb. 15, 1999) in Medford.

Mr. Kent was born Sept. 27, 1912, in Mogadore, Ohio.
On Jan. 3, 1940, in Portland, he married Lois N. Naylor, who survives. They moved to Medford from Roseburg in 1965.
In 1935, Mr. Kent graduated from Ohio State University, the school's first graduate majoring in radio broadcasting. In 1939, he moved to Portland, where he was a writer on the staff of radio station KGW/KEX.
He held a military reserve commission from Ohio State University and was called to active duty as post signal officer at Fort Stevens in 1940. In 1941, he was transferred to Alaska and was promoted to captain, then major, in the Army. During the Korean War he was stationed in Texas as a worldwide communications inspector for the Air Force.
Following his graduation from Air Force Command and Staff School in 1953, he was director of operations for the Airways and Air Communication Service wing covering the Pacific. In 1956, he became a deputy commander for the AACS in Germany. In 1959 he transferred to Washington, D.C., to work as liaison between the Air Force and the Federal Aviation Agency. In 1962, he was assigned to the Air Staff at the Pentagon, and in 1963 he moved to the communications staff for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He retired in 1965 as lieutenant colonel in the Air Force and colonel in the Reserve Forces.
Mr. Kent established a hardware and sporting goods business in Roseburg. After settling in Medford in 1965, he worked as a stockbroker, retiring from Paine Webber in 1979.
He was commissioner for the Crater Lake Council of Boy Scouts from 1966 to 1969 and helped plan construction of the council service center in 1969. He served on the board for American Red Cross in Jackson County.
Mr. Kent enjoyed music and playing guitar with the Southern Oregon Traditional Jazz Society. He was active in the Sun Oaks Homeowners Association.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, William, Eugene; a sister, Marilyn Kent Hall, Columbus, Ohio, and three grandsons.
