Lula May Marsh
The graveside service for Lula May Marsh will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Siskiyou Memorial Park. The Rev. Liam Cary of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate.
Mrs. Marsh, 75, died Wednesday (Feb. 17, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 14, 1923, in Riley, Kan., to Andrew and Mabel Chapman.
Mrs. Marsh was married to Roger Clayton Marsh, who preceded her in death.
She moved to the Rogue Valley from Kansas in 1942.
She was a file clerk for Harry & David, and enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping and embroidery. She was a member of the Rogue Rebel Car Club.
Survivors include a son, Donald, Phoenix; two daughters, Debra Shipley, Eagle Point, and Marilyn Walker, Gold Hill; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Kenneth T. Mayer
Kenneth Thomas Mayer, 73, of Medford, died Friday (Feb. 19, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned.
Mr. Mayer was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Portland.
On Oct. 22, 1946, in Glendale, Calif., he married Jane Allen, who died in 1992.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
The couple moved to the Rogue Valley from Northridge, Calif., in 1962.
Mr. Mayer worked in plywood mills for many years.
He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild.
Survivors include a daughter, Laura Matter, Medford; a son, Kenneth, Medford; a brother, Gene, Mercer Island, Wash.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Russell Lee Werner
Russell Lee Werner Sr., 78, of Grants Pass, died Feb. 12, 1999, at Fair View Transitional Health Center. A private service was held.

He was born June 10, 1920, in Sampson, Wis., and moved to Medford when he was 7 years old.
Mr. Werner graduated from Medford High School in 1938.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the infantry.
Later he graduated from Southern Oregon College and received a master's degree from the University of Oregon.
On Aug. 18, 1945, in Paris, Texas, he married Margaret Marie Castlebury, who survives. They moved to Grants Pass in 1947 from Eugene.
Mr. Werner taught biology, health and life science and coached all sports for 37 years at Grants Pass High School. He retired in 1982.
Earlier he had coached high school football, track, basketball and baseball in Josephine and Jackson counties.
Mr. Werner attended Newman United Methodist Church in Grants Pass for many years.
He enjoyed fishing, snow skiing, hiking and backpacking.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Russell "Rusty" Jr., Hugo, and Bob, Grants Pass; and a daughter, Annette Werner, Grants Pass.
Florence A. Holbert
The graveside service for Florence Adeline Holbert will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mrs. Holbert, 75, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday (Feb. 16, 1999) at Royale Garden Health Care.
She was born Florence Carroll on Oct. 5, 1923, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
On Feb. 23, 1944, in Texas, she married Claud Holbert, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Holbert moved to the Rogue Valley in 1991 from Aubrey, Texas.
She enjoyed reading and traveling and had visited every state in the continental U.S.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Moore, Grants Pass, and Sandi Thompson, Shady Cove; four siblings; and two grandchildren. Two brothers preceded her in death.

Lena F. Brownlee
Lena F. Brownlee, 96, of Grants Pass and Central Point, died Tuesday (Feb. 16, 1999) at a Grants Pass foster care home. No service is planned.
She was born Lena Berryman on Jan. 16, 1903, in Portland, Maine.
On May 31, 1958, in Virginia City, Nev., she married Van E. Brownlee, who survives.
Mrs. Brownlee was a hairdresser for many years.
During World War II, she served in the Women's Army Corps.
Mrs. Brownlee moved to Klamath Falls in 1930 from San Simeon, Calif.
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed gardening and painting.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, of Central Point, include two sons, Ellis Whitney, Grants Pass, and Fred Whitney, Wenatchee, Wash.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Muriel E. Groftholdt
Muriel E. Groftholdt, 92, of Medford, died Wednesday (Feb. 17, 1999) at Hearthstone. No service is planned.
She was born July 12, 1906, in Eagle Point, a daughter of Guss and L. Pearl Ferrin Smith.
Mrs. Groftholdt was a telephone operator, working 28 years with Southern Pacific Railroad after it merged with Pacific Electric Rail.
She returned to the Rogue Valley in 1973 from Long Beach, Calif.
She was a member of the Christian Science Church.
Survivors include a niece, Jeannie Paul, Medford; and a nephew, William Gipson, Shingletown, Calif. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Buster McClelland; and her second husband, Frank Groftholdt.

James Clayton Morris
Rosie Mae Morris
James Clayton Morris, 71, and his wife, Rosie Mae Morris, 67, formerly of Ashland and Medford, died Tuesday (Feb. 16, 1999) in an automobile accident in Nampa, Idaho. Their home was in Middleton, Idaho.
The funeral will be today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Middleton. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

She was born Rosie Stroub on Feb. 27, 1931, in Falmouth, Ky. He was born June 13, 1927, in Pocatello, Idaho.
They were married Sept. 30, 1950, in Gulfport, Miss.
Mrs. Morris was a graduate of Louisiana State University, receiving a bachelor of science degree in 1967 and a master of business administration degree in 1968.
She accepted an appointment as an assistant professor at Southern Oregon College in 1968 and taught accounting in the Business School for 28 years. She retired from Southern Oregon State College in 1996.
Mr. Morris served in the U.S. Army Air Corps 439th Air Services Group during World War II. He was a retired pilot.
They moved to Medford in 1991 from Ashland and then moved to Middleton in June 1998.
Survivors include a daughter, Elena Broadway, Medford. Mrs. Morris also is survived by a sister, Eleanor Frank, in Ohio; and a brother, Wesley Stroub, in Ohio. Mr. Morris also is survived by five brothers, Jack Norris, Roseburg, Neil Norris, Eugene, Bill Norris, Port Sulfur, La., Gene Norris, in Florida, and Capt. Oscar Sanzin, Gulfport.

Jean Louise DeBo
The memorial service for Jean Louise DeBo will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Hull & Hull Chapel, Grants Pass. Matt Hamilton of the Newberg Christian Fellowship will officiate.
Mrs. DeBo, 82, of Grants Pass, died Monday (Feb. 15, 1999) at her home.
She was born Jean Louise Oastot on Jan. 18, 1917, in Riverton, Neb.
She moved to Grants Pass from Medford 58 years ago.
On Sept. 28, 1973, in Carson City, Nev., she married Amil August DeBo, who survives.
Mrs. DeBo worked eight years for Brower Wholesale Grocers and four years with Bi-Rite Pharmacy.
She was a member of the PTA, a Cub Scout den mother and an avid supporter of Grants Pass High School sports. She also enjoyed pinochle, knitting and traveling.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Bill Hamilton, Grants Pass, and Jim Hamilton, Wilsonville; a sister, Phyllis Irvin, Superior, Neb.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
