Ida Ellen Lick
The memorial service for Ida Ellen Lick will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Conger-Morris Chapel, Medford. Private inurnment will be in the Phoenix Cemetery.
Mrs. Lick, 84, of Medford, died Thursday (Feb. 18, 1999) at her home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
She was born Ida Ellen Hollett on Oct. 13, 1914, in Norwood, Colo.
On July 4, 1934, in Wichita Falls, Texas, she married James W. Lick, who died in 1985. She moved to the Griffin Creek area from California in 1946.
Mrs. Lick was employed in defense work in Bell, Calif.
She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles until her failing eyesight made it impossible. Survivors include two sons, John Wesley, Eagle Point, and James Wayne, Chino Hills, Calif.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a grandson, James, in 1998.

Vincent Edward Orland
The graveside service for Vincent Edward Orland will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Orland, 80, of Ashland, died Thursday (Feb. 18, 1999) at his home.
He was born Sept. 24, 1918, in Paterson, N.J. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Seattle 11 years ago.
Mr. Orland was an insurance salesman.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Mr. Orland was a member of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church. In Seattle, he was a member of the Elks and the Eagles.
He enjoyed playing guitar, fishing, horse racing and teaching ballroom dancing in Medford and Ashland.
Survivors include a daughter, Laura Lippert, Ashland; a son, James C., Manhattan Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Frederick A.; seven brothers; and two sisters.

Benjamin C. Jauss
Benjamin Chad Jauss of Medford died Friday (Feb. 19, 1999) at his home. He was born Dec. 11, 1998, in Modesto, Calif.
Survivors include his mother, Billie Joe Jauss, Medford; stepfather, Robert Johnson, Medford; sister, Kathleen High, Medford; brother, David Jauss, Hillmar, Calif.; and grandparents, Buck and Jean Morgan, Medford.

Janice Gould Houghton
The memorial service for Janice Gould Houghton will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Medford. The Rev. Charles Christopher will officiate.
Mrs. Houghton, 92, of Medford, died Jan. 30, 1999, at her home.

She was born Janice Abigail Gould on Feb. 13, 1906, in Hood River.
On Sept. 25, 1927, in Portland, she married Dwight L. Houghton, who died in 1967. They came to Medford in 1935.
Mrs. Houghton was a member of Siskiyou Pioneer Sites Foundation, serving on a committee that rescued the historic Beekman House in Jacksonville. The home is now owned by the Southern Oregon Historical Society and is the summer scene of a living history program.
Mrs. Houghton also was involved in helping to bring the outdoor summer concert series known as the Britt Music Festivals to the Peter Britt gardens.
Survivors include a son, David, Portland; three daughters, Harriet Guldahl, Seattle, Janny Lou McDade, Ukiah, Calif., and Marcia Padgham, Atlanta; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Diane Kay Semple
Diane Kay Semple, 43, of Ashland, died Thursday (Feb. 18, 1999) at her home. A private service is planned.

She was born Diane Hurley on June 23, 1955, in Bremerton, Wash.
She attended school in San Clemente, Calif.
On June 21, 1981, in Yreka, Calif., she married Michael O. Semple, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 13 years ago from Fort Jones, Calif.
Mrs. Hurley was office manager for Vataline Corp. in Ashland.
She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She enjoyed walking and bicycling.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her father, Jack Hurley, Riggins, Idaho; her mother, Teresa Hurley, Post Falls, Idaho; and a brother, Curtis Hurley, Post Falls.

Edward C. Fitzpatrick
The funeral Mass for Edward C. Fitzpatrick will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, Ashland. The Rev. Liam Cary of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford, will officiate. Interment will follow in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.
The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
Mr. Fitzpatrick, 84, of Medford, died Thursday (Feb. 18, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 3, 1914, in Elkader, Iowa.
On Dec. 20, 1941, in Pensacola, Fla., he married Mary Jane Jernigan, who survives. They moved to Ashland in 1961 from San Gabriel, Calif.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Naval Air Corps.
Mr. Fitzpatrick taught at Southern Oregon College in the theater arts department for 15 years, retiring in 1975 as associate professor emeritus.
The Fitzpatricks moved to Medford in 1986.
He served as oblate of St. Benedict at Mount Angel Abbey.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Kathryn Meagher, Hermiston, and Martha Ann Fitzpatrick, New York City; a sister, Kathryn E. Begosh, Camarillo, Calif.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A sister preceded him in death.

Palma M. Brewer
Palma Mae Brewer, 73, of Medford, died Wednesday (Feb. 17, 1999) in Medford. No service is planned.

She was born Aug. 11, 1925 in San Leandro, Calif. On Aug. 30, 1942, in California, she married William Brewer, who preceded her in death.
She lived in the Rogue Valley for 10 years, moving here from Palms, Calif. Mrs. Brewer worked as a florist and did custodial work in the Yreka School District for 13 years. She also enjoyed cooking and painting.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Bethany Brewer. She was preceded in death by a son, David Allen Brewer.

Delmar E. Payne
The funeral for Delmar Emerson Payne will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 24, 1999) at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Joseph McMahan of Rogue Valley Medical Center officiating.
Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Payne, 87, of Medford, died Thursday (Feb. 18, 1999) in Medford.

Mr. Payne was born Aug. 2, 1911 in Mt. Ida, Kan. On Jan. 1, 1933, in Iola, Kan., he married Lenore Leigh, who survives.
Mr. Payne lived in the Rogue Valley for 24 years. He was a member of the Independent Order of the Foresters, and was a member of the carpenters union for more than 50 years. He enjoyed camping, traveling and trading cars.
Survivors besides his wife include two sons, James L.R. of Springfield, Mo., and Jack E. of Redding, Calif.; a daughter, Janet L. Patterson of Ashland; a brother, Lawrence, of Milton-Freewater; and two sisters, Marguerite Dutton of Bellflower, Calif. and Joanne Goodnight of Dewey, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd, a brother, William, two sisters, Leona Ringler and Maxine Hunt, and a grandson, Mathew Brian Payne.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel.
