Eddie Maxwell Heim
The graveside service for Eddie Maxwell Heim, 83, of Talent is 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2002 at Jacksonville Cemetery. Pastor Fred Sapp of the Blessed Hope Advent Christian Church in Medford will officiate.
Mr. Heim died Thursday, July 18, 2002 at his home.

He was born March 1, 1919 in Guthrie, Okla., to Eyer Guy and Edith (Abbott) Heim.
Mr. Heim was an Army sergeant during World War II. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Oklahoma in 1941.
On July 19, 1942 in Medford he married Maxine Joyce Childers, who survives.
He was a private detective, a night watchman, a police officer, a municipal court judge, a carpenter and a brick mason. He also was certified to teach agriculture as well as shop. He participated as a school board member.
Mr. Heim retired in 1981 from Phoenix High School after 18 years as an engineer and head custodian. He owned the Talent Feed Store and gas station. Mr. Heim was proud to be a founding member of what is now known as Jackson County Fire District No. 5. He also was a member of the Ashland Masonic Lodge.
His hobbies included enjoying life with his wife of 60 years on their ranch, spending time with his family, and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; sons Allen (and Frances) Heim of Medford and Eddie W. (and Sandy) Heim of Talent; a daughter, Judy (and Ron) Welburn of Talent; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.
Albert Sharkey
A memorial service will be held at a later date for Albert Sharkey, 100, of Medford, who died July 29, 2002 at the Royal Oak Retirement Center.
Mr. Sharkey, who moved to the Rogue Valley 10 years ago, was born Sept. 8, 1901 in Riga, Latvia to Antonus and Julia Sharkey. His family moved to the United States when he was an infant. They spent a few years in Ansonia, Conn., before moving to Chicago.
Mr. Sharkey went to night school, learned the Gregg shorthand method and worked as a secretary. He also sold sewing machines and worked at Montgomery Ward, where he met his wife, Josephine "Jo." They married in 1928, and were wed for 51 years. She died in 1980.
The Sharkeys started their own business, Service Beauty Supply Co., selling products to beauty shops from their apartment. Their business grew and was successful for 49 years.
Mr. Sharkey took up bowling in his late 30s and turned professional. In 1952, he won the American Bowling Classic national singles competition.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Wolfe of Ashland; his sister, Laura McAllister of Van Nuys, Calif.; three great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Richard, in 1992; and a grandson Gregory Wolfe in 1998.
Four generations of family members had gathered with Mr. Sharkey on Sept. 8, 2001 to celebrate his 100th birthday.

Dennis Ray Hassell
Dennis Ray Hassell, 79 of Sonora, died Sunday, Aug., 4, 2002, at a Sonora Hospital. A funeral will take place 11 a.m., Saturday Aug. 10, 2002 at the Medford LDS Stake Center, 2900 Juanipero Way, Medford. Bishop Fred Clark will be officiating.
Lois Virginia M. Coldwell
Lois Virginia M. Coldwell, 78, of Brookings, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 at Sutter Coast Hospital of Natural causes.
Ann Dudley
Always an enthusiastic adventurer, Ann Dudley, teacher of French and Spanish at Ashland Junior and Senior High Schools for 20 years, embarked on her final journey on August 11, 2002, at the age of 67, after a brief illness. Ann is remembered as an innovative teacher, weaving her travel and life experiences into the classroom, infusing her students with a love of language and adventure.
David Allen Larsen
David Allen Larsen, 52, a long time resident of Applegate Valley, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002 at his home after a recently diagnosed heart viral infection.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002 at the Provolt Community Church with Pastor Earl Best officiating. Private burial services will be at Missouri Flat Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
He was born on Aug. 19, 1949 in Anaheim, Calif. David's family moved to the Murphy area in 1955 from Anaheim, Calif. He graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1967. He went on to continue his education at Southern Oregon University. After a few semesters, he became an apprentice to Ron White, Architect. Following in his fathers footsteps, of the building and construction industry. David became a well known architect throughout Southern Oregon. David A. Larsen Designs are highly respected in the architectural community. His architectural works is well known and can be seen throughout the valley.
Leaving behind for heavenly home is his mother, Wanda L. Larsen of Murphy; his sisters, Linda Sandquist and her husband Phillip and their children, Tamara and Chris and four grandchildren, Tara, Tasha, Trista and Christy along with great-grandson, Devon. Sharon Bunch of Grants Pass and her four children, Jeff, Dianne, Jenette and Kari; six grandchildren, Jayme, Dustin, Jeffrey, Shaley, Skylar and Brady.
He was preceded in death by 23 years his brother John and surviving wife Marcia and son John; and his father Oscar J. Larsen by 9 years.
Marion Harvey Fry
Marion Harvey Fry, age 83, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 at English Oaks Conv. Hospital, Modesto, Calif.
Mr. Fry was born March 8, 1919, in Cedarville, Ark. He spent most of his life in Hilt, Calif. where he was employed at Fruit Growers Supply Co. as a Lumberman for 35 years. In his retirement, 22 years ago, he resided in the Turlock, Modesto areas to be near his family. Marion was a member of the Masons in Fort Smith Arkansas, and also S.I.R.S. society. He was an avid bowler and Baseball Fan. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include son Dave Fry of Escalon, Calif.; daughter Susan Lynch of Ranger, Calif.; brother Leroy Fry of Fort Smith, Ark.; and three grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at "The Rex Club" in Yreka, Calif. Followed by a private inurnment. Memorial contributions can be made to Yreka High School/United Scholarships, In Memory of Harvey Fry, Attention: Orsula Silva, 1030 N. Street.
Allen Mortuary will be in charge of arrangements.
Mabel Josephine Messersmith
Mabel Josephine Messersmith, 94, of Ashland, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 at Three Fountains Nursing Center. A private memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, in Medford for Mrs. Messersmith and her husband, Roy Alexander Messersmith who died Dec. 24, 1992 in Coos Bay. He was born on May 30, 1906 in Spalding, Neb. Dr. James Larsen of the Church of God in Ashland will be officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to Rogue Valley Christian Church, 1440 S. Raymond F. Fish
Raymond F. Fish, 96, of Ashland, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002 at his home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Providence Hospice, 1660 E. McAndrews, Medford, Ore. 97504.
Mr. Fish was born Aug. 21, 1906 in Oakland, Calif. to Franklin and Bessie Fish. He later married Martha Parr on June 10, 1945 in Campbell, Calif. They've lived in the Rogue Valley since 1970 from Livermore, Calif.
Mr. Fish worked as a construction inspector for schools. His hobbies included golf and repairing golf clubs. He was a member of the Masons, Fruitvale Lodge in Oakland, Calif.; the Rogue Valley Country Club; and volunteered at Providence Medford Medical Center for 21 years.
He is survived by daughter Beverly Gettling of Ashland; sons Raymond F. Fish Jr. of Rocklin, Calif. and Harry E. Fish of Holister, Calif.; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Preceded in death was his wife in 1999.
Funeral arrangements are in care of Perl Funeral Home, Medford.
