Ralph Edwin Spiker

Ralph Edwin Spiker, 84, of Medford, died Saturday (March 6, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Manor Foundation, 1200 Mira Mar, Medford, OR 97504, or to a favorite charity.

He was born Nov. 15, 1914, in Canton, Ohio, and graduated from Texas A & M.

Mr. Spiker was president of a savings & loan in Gillette, Wyo., until his retirement in 1977.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged with the rank of major.

He was a member of the Elks for 36 years in Gillette, Wyo., and Lodge 1643 in Indio, Calif. In Canton, Ohio, he was also a member of Trinity Lodge 710, A.F. & A.M. for over 55 years.

Survivors include his wife, Norma S. (Fisher) Spiker, Medford; a son, C. Dean, Seattle; three daughters, Barbara Holcomb, The Woodland, Texas, Sue Pennock, Conroe, Texas, and Nancy Busch, San Antonio, Texas; a stepdaughter, Linda Sue Allen, Brookings; a stepson, Michael C. Fisher, Arbuckle, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Adele Eckard Spiker, in 1980.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou, Medford.

Floyd Marvin Caughie

Floyd Marvin Caughie, 71, of Basalt, Idaho, formerly of Central Point, died Feb. 23, 1999, at Columbia Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. The funeral was held in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

He was born Jan. 13, 1928, in Idaho Falls.

On Sept. 10, 1949, he married Betty M. Jenkins, who died in 1990. The couple moved to Oregon in 1950, and lived here for 23 years.

Mr. Caughie was a forklift driver for Cascade Wood Products. In 1974 the couple returned to Basalt, and he worked for the R.T. French Co. and Pillsbury until he retired.

He was a past worthy president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2093 from June 1974 to June 1975.

Mr. Caughie enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling.

Survivors include three sons, John, Central Point, Ron, Elverta, Calif., and Bob Henley, Brussels, Belgium; two daughters, Sandra Smith, Central Point, and Lynda Anderson, Menan, Idaho; a sister, Elma Colby, Idaho Falls; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Arrangements: Wood Funeral Home, Idaho Falls.

Adelaide M. Schneider

Adelaide "Addie" Marie Schneider, 88, of Medford, died Feb. 4, 1999, in Manhattan Beach, Calif. A service was held there.

She was born Adelaide Marie Schneider on June 17, 1910, in Avon, Minn.

Ms. Schneider was a pediatric nurse for Dr. Brandt B. Bartels for 32 years, retiring in 1980.

During World War II, she served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy in California. She moved to Medford in 1947.

Survivors include a son, Michael Schneider, Manhattan Beach; a sister, Margaret Langholtz, Eureka, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Arrangements: Nautilus Society, Lawndale, Calif.

James W. 'Dub' Calhoon

The memorial service for James W. "Dub" Calhoon will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church of Central Point. Rev. Dwayne Brown will officiate.

Mr. Calhoon, 74, of Central Point, died Friday (March 5, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Center in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Disease Association of Oregon Research Foundation, 3181 SW Sam Jackson Park Road, Suite 2200, Portland, OR 97201.

He was born May 27, 1924, in El Dorado, Kan. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1950.

On Oct. 25, 1945, he married Louise Whitaker, who survives.

Mr. Calhoon enjoyed fishing and travel.

During World War II, he served four years in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Jerry, Dallas, Ore.; a brother, Van, Medford; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A son, Michael, died in 1948, and a sister, Mildred, died in 1994.

Lee 'Roy' Icenhower

The funeral for Lee "Roy" Icenhower will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of God, 520 N. Holly St., Medford. Rev. Bud Coffman will officiate.

Mr. Icenhower, 87, of Medford, died Friday (March 5, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Valley Hospice, 2825 E. Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504 or to the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of God, 520 N. Holly, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Nov. 23, 1911, in Arkansas.

On Aug. 20, 1932, in DeQueen, Ark., he married Emma L. Richardson, who survives.

They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1976 from Lakeview, where they lived for 43 years.

Mr. Icenhower, a longtime timber faller, retired from Fremont Sawmill in Lakeview in 1976. He enjoyed gardening and long walks. He was a member of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of God.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, Harold and Joseph, both of Medford, Stephan, Portland, and Richard, Wellington, Nev.; a daughter, Virginia Moore, Medford; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three children, a son, Maurice, in 1963, and two infants; and by four brothers, Calvin, Lester, Chester and Troy.

Friends may pay their respects from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford.

Dr. Robert H. Riechers

Dr. Robert H. Riechers, 80, of Sun River, died Friday (March 5, 1999) at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 3101 SW Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97201.

He was born June 5, 1918, in Miles City, Montana, and grew up in Portland.

Dr. Riechers was a graduate of Oregon State College.

In 1943, he married Carolynn Wolcott of Marshfield, who survives.

He practiced medicine in Yosemite National Park in California and in Medford, before retiring to Sun River in 1980.

Dr. Riechers served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1946 as a pilot aboard the cruiser New Orleans and the USS Saratoga, seeing duty in the World War II battles of Midway and Coral Sea. He retired as a lieutenant commander.

An outdoor enthusiast, Dr. Riechers also enjoyed storytelling.

He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Robert, New Orleans, La., and Bill, Marina del Rey, Calif.; three daughters, Sally Swartz, Ashland, Peggy Watters, West Linn, and Sue Riechers, Bend; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements: Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Funeral Home of Bend.

Oie K. Dang

Oie Kwock Dang, 92, of Central Point died Friday (March 5, 1999) at his home. No local service is planned.

He was born March 20, 1906 in Hawaii.

Mr. Dang was born and raised in Hawaii, where he owned and operated a country store and was dedicated to his family. He moved to the Rogue Valley five years ago from Florida.

He was married to Bernice Dang, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include three daughters; Stephanie Topolic, Central Point, and Anita Lee and Krystyne Tanaka, both of Hawaii; a son, Ronald Dang, of Hawaii; two brothers; a sister; and eight grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point.

Wanieta Alma Guthrie

The memorial service for Wanieta Alma Guthrie will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Central Valley Chapel, Central Point. Lyle McCaw of White City Christian Church will officiate.

Mrs. Guthrie, 84, of Medford, died Thursday (March 4, 1999) at Hearthstone.

She was born Wanieta Dietz on Jan. 3, 1915, in Reno County, Kan.

On July 18, 1948, in Oakland, Calif., she married Harold Guthrie, who died in 1987. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1978.

Mrs. Guthrie was a member of the Gold Hill Grange, Gold Hill IOOF and Amethyst Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include a brother, Arden Dietz, Gold Hill. A sister, Georgia Dietz died in 1931.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.
