Velma Noble
A graveside service for Velma Noble, 82, a lifetime resident of Eagle Point, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2002, at Mountain View I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Ashland. A reception will follow at 1 p.m. at the Eagle Point Grange #664, 5 S. Shasta Ave., Eagle Point.
Mrs. Noble died Friday, March 15, 2002, at the Providence Medford Medical Center.
She was born May 16, 1919 at the family homestead in Eagle Point to Vern and Nora (Winkle) Matthews. She graduated from Eagle Point High School and studied two years at the Normal School of Ashland. She married John Elgian Noble, originally of Lakeview, on Sept. 7, 1937 in Salt Lake City.
Mrs. Noble was a direct descendent of the 1851 pioneer and ranching Matthews family, which named Eagle Point in 1853. She worked side by side with her husband on their cattle ranch, Old Fiddle Ranch, a portion of the original family land grant, until her death.
She was a member of the Eagle Point and Oregon State granges for more than 50 years and a 4-H leader for more than 55 years. She was treasurer of the Summit Prairie Cattleman's Association and a member of the Southern Oregon Cattleman's Association. She also belonged to the Historical Society and was an avid hunter.
Survivors include her husband, John E. Noble of Eagle Point; daughters Norma Ellen Kuyper and Lauramay Assali, both of Eagle Point; one sister, Vera Harper of Eagle Point; four grandchildren, Russell and Cherayne Kuyper, both of Sacramento, Calif., Noramay and Desraye Assali, both of Eagle Point; three great-grandchildren, Matthew and Ellie Rhode, both of Sacramento, and Rylee Kuyper of Texas; and one great-uncle, Quinton Matthews of Eagle Point.
A viewing is scheduled today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Wilbur C. Bushnell
The memorial service for Wilbur Corrydon Bushnell will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2002, at the Ashland Church of the Nazarene, 1760 East Main Street. Pastor Jim Curty will officiate.
Bushnell, 97, of Ashland, died Friday, April 26, 2002 at home. He was born Nov. 3, 1904 in Eugene to Edwin and Sophronia Bushnell.
He came to Ashland in 1930 and purchased Darling Photo Studio - which later became the Bushnell Photo Studio - operating the studio for 17 years.
In 1937, Bushnell married former Dorothea Mae, who survives.
Bushnell was granted an architectural degree from the University of Oregon in 1930. After the sale of the studio, Bushnell worked as an architect for Seibert and Hunter Architects of Medford and Howard Perrin Architects of Klamath Falls for 16 years.
He also worked for the City of Ashland for six years before retiring in 1969.
Bushnell was active in Gideons International, the Full Gospel Business Men Fellowship, and the Nazarene Church. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and visited 34 countries and 20 islands. They especially enjoyed Japan, Scandinavian countries, Europe, Africa, Hong Kong, and Bangkok, Thailand.
He is survived by wife Dorothea; four children Marilyn Shafer of El Cajun, Calif., Carol Baker of Saratoga, Calif., Richard Bushnell of Eugene and adopted son O'Dell Bushnell of Ashland; two sisters Alice Forester of Eugene and Dorothea Thurston of Bend; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Arthur Eugene "Gene" Gall
An informal gathering to celebrate life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2002 at the residence of Arthur Eugene "Gene" Gall, 69, who died Sunday, April 28, 2002 in Reno, Nev.

Mr. Gall was born Sept. 26, 1932 in Spokane, Wash. to Arthur and Grace (Olsen) Gall. He spent the early years of his life on his grandparent's farm in Usk, Wash. As a teenager he moved with his father and step-mother, Leona B. Gall, to Redmond, Wash. where he graduated from Lake Washington High School in 1950.
He attended Everett Junior College before being drafted into the army. Mr. Gall never referred to himself as "being drafted." Rather, he said "his neighbors asked him to serve." In 1957, while stationed in Paris, France, he married Denise Zimmerlin of Colmar, France, who survives.
He served over 20 years in the army signal corps, including tours of duty in Korea in 1961 and Vietnam in 1969-1970. He was awarded two Bronze star medals for meritorious achievement in connection with military operations in Vietnam. He retired from the Army as a Chief Warrant Officer II in 1974.
After moving to Ashland in 1974, Mr. Gall spent many years as a real estate agent. In more recent years, he worked for Enterprise Car Rental. He was a charter member of the Ashland "Early Bird" Lions Club, and remained active in the club until his death.
He enjoyed golfing, walking his golden retriever, Haley, working outdoors and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Dale.
His family and friends will remember him as a generous who was always willing to lend a hand to help out. He placed the highest value on hard work and personal integrity. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Surviving in addition to his wife Denise are son Ivan (Tawni) Gall of Grants Pass; daughter Michelle (Ted) Helvoigt of Phoenix, Ariz.; mother Leona Gall of Kirkland, Wash.; brothers Jim Gall of Bothell, Wash. and Steve Gall of Seattle, Wash.; and granddaughters Dave Helvoigt and soon-to-be born Alexi Gall.
Vera Klott
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2002 at Eden Memorial Park in Mission Hills, Calif. for Vera Klott, 85, of Ashland, who died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at her residence.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Skylark Memorial Rose Garden Fund, South Valley Bank & Trust, 300 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, Ore. 97504.
She was born May 6, 1917 at Vilno Poland to Yisrael and Rosalyn (Drujan) Borowik. In 1945 she married Leon Klott. A Holocaust survivor, she immigrated to the United States in 1947, living in Chicago, Ill. and eventually Granada Hills, Calif. where she and her husband owned and operated Leon's Fashion Fabrics. Mr. Klott preceded her in death in 1985. She moved to Ashland two years ago.
Survivors include son, Arnie Klott of White City, Ore.; daughter Rosalyn Klott of Vancouver, Wash.; sister Sonia Golad of Kansas City, Mo.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Esther Lefton (1976) and one brother.

Anna Murphy
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Ashland for Nancy Ann "Anna" Murphy, 98, of Ashland, who died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at the home of her caregiver. Pastor Dwayne Robinson of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Scenic Hills Memorial Park in Ashland.
Mrs. Murphy was born Nov. 24, 1903 at Doniphan, Neb. to Amy and Charles Smith. On Nov. 24, 1923 in Kansas she married Theodore Murphy who preceded her in death in 1982. Mr. and Mrs. Murphy farmed near Doniphan until 1964 when they moved to southern California. In 1972 they moved to Ashland.
She was a member of the Ashland First Baptist Church where she was active in the Women's Missionary Fellowship. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting and ceramics.
Surviving her are one son, Charles Murphy of Fairbanks, Ala.; daughter Evelyn DeRousse of Whittier, Calif.; sister Gerneva Smith of Riverside, Calif.; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister and one grandson.
