Grace Opal Rugh
The cryptside service for Grace Opal Rugh will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor David Croy of the First Baptist Church will officiate.
Mrs. Rugh, 87, of Medford, died Monday (April 5, 1999) at Hearthstone.
She was born Grace Opal Harvey on March 12, 1912, in Minot, N.D.
On June 27, 1932, in Claremont, Calif., she married Stanley Wayne Rugh, who survives.
Mrs. Rugh was a painter and taught oil and watercolor painting. She was also a homemaker.
She was a member of the Associated Artist Club of Ontario.
Mrs. Rugh enjoyed fishing.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two brothers, Victor M. Harvey, Martinez, Calif., and Lewis R. Harvey, Salem; a sister, Leota White, Moberly, Mo.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A daughter, Patricia Ann Irving, preceded her in death in 1998.

Gwen Verna Boyd
The memorial service for Gwen Verna Boyd will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Northridge Center, 3737 South Pacific Highway, Medford. Pastor Scott Simpson of Eagle Point Assembly of God will officiate.
Mrs. Boyd, 86, of Phoenix, died Friday (April 2, 1999) at her home.
She was born Guinevere Verna Chaney on Nov. 9, 1912, in Burlington, Iowa.
On July 9, 1937, in Long Beach, Calif., she married Kenneth O. Boyd, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley six years ago. One month ago she moved to Phoenix from Eagle Point.
Mrs. Boyd was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Eagle Point Assembly of God.
Mrs. Boyd enjoyed flowers and playing the steel guitar.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Shirley A. Lippincott, Phoenix; a son, Dennis R., St. George, Utah; a brother, Sam Hepler, Banning, Calif.; a sister, Betty Rutherford, Grass Valley, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Rev. Rollin Schaleger
The memorial service for Rev. Rollin "Ron" John Schaleger will be at 1 p.m. today at Bethel Lutheran Church in Sweet Home.
Mr. Schaleger, 62, of Sweet Home, formerly of Medford, died Saturday (April 3, 1999) at his home.

He was born March 1, 1937, in Milwaukee, where he spent his childhood. He also lived in Illinois, Missouri, New York and Veneta, in Lane County.
He graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Mo., in 1961.
On Nov. 28, 1959, in North Tonawanda, N.Y., he married Gretchen Marie Klomhaus, who survives. He lived in Caldwell, Idaho, from 1965 until he moved to Medford in 1973.
He moved to Sweet Home in 1984 and was pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church.
In Sweet Home, he was volunteer chaplain for the Sweet Home Police Department. He was a member of the ministerial association, senior citizens community center board, Boys & Girls Club, Sweet Home Emergency Ministries, 4-H Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Lions Club. He was city Webmaster and taught Internet instruction at Linn-Benton Community College.
He also owned and operated a family business of Western Christian Art, which manufactured handcrafted original crosses.
He enjoyed daily walks, fishing and photojournalism.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Christine Joy Monroe, Deming, Wash., Ruth Marie Robinson, Albany, and Martha Grace Schaleger, Sweet Home; two sons, John Paul, Silverdale, Wash., and David Allen, Lake Oswego; his parents, John and Irmine Drews Schaleger, Stuart, Fla.; two sisters, Bonnie Drews Schere, Stuart, Fla., and Theresa Joy Scudamore, Montgomery, Ill.; and nine grandchildren.

Olga H. Curtis
The funeral for Olga H. Curtis will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Ashland. The Rt. Rev. John L. Thompson will officiate.
Mrs. Curtis, 87, of Talent, died March 26, 1999, at her home.

She was born Olga Hamilton on Sept. 21, 1911, in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Curtis was a graduate of Flower-Fifth Avenue School of Nursing, Vanderbilt University public health program, Columbia University's physical therapy program and the University of Oregon.
She was a public health nurse, an orthopedic consultant with Crippled Children's Division of the University of Oregon Medical School and an administrator of nurses for the Milpitas School District in California.
Mrs. Curtis moved to Ashland in 1976 and served for a year as school nurse in the Talent-Phoenix School District.
She was a volunteer with senior citizens and at Trinity Church. She received her 25-year pin from the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Curtis enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading and playing bridge.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia C. Bartlett, Ashland, and Dorothy C. Zurcher, Tustin, Calif.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two great-granddaughters, Katie Ehlers and Morgan Zurcher.

Terry Dyan Coffee
The memorial service for Terry Dyan Coffee will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Private interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Santa Monica, Calif.
Miss Coffee, 65, of Talent, died March 28, 1999, at Ashland Community Hospital.

Miss Coffee was born July 23, 1933, in Santa Monica, Calif. The family moved to Ashland in 1943, where Miss Coffee attended Ashland schools. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1951.
Miss Coffee worked for Callahan's Restaurant for 37 years. She also work at the Plaza Cafe and for the Ashland Rexall drugstore.
Survivors include a sister, Zoe Ann Ross, Phoenix; and a nephew, Wayne Lewallen, Ashland.

Buford Boyd
The graveside service for retired Col. Buford Boyd will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford. Pastor Dwayne Brown of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Col. Boyd, 93, of Medford, died March 30, 1999, at his home.
He was born Oct. 25, 1905, in Asotin, Wash. He attended the University of Idaho at Moscow, where he studied forestry and was commissioned as an infantry officer.
On Feb. 14, 1935, in Yakima, Wash., he married Margaret A. Allan, who preceded him in death. He moved to Butte Falls in 1935.
He was a colonel in the U.S. Army. In Butte Falls, he commanded a Civilian Conservation Corps camp followed by other assignments with the CCC in Klamath County.
During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in Europe. Following the war, he served three years in Turkey as a military adviser.
He retired in 1967 and ranched in the Klamath Basin for more than 30 years.
Col. Boyd was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Elks Lodge in Klamath Falls and Medford.
Survivors include a son, Lt. Col., retired, Gary Boyd, Augsburg, Germany; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Ron A. White
Ron A. White, 61, of White City, died Wednesday (March 31, 1999) at his home. No service is planned.
He was born May 17, 1937, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
On Sept. 20, 1963, in Las Vegas, he married Beverly Fremming, who survives. He moved to Oregon from California in 1972.
Mr. White was a maintenance worker at a local motel.
He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper.
Mr. White enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his parents, Ben and Edith White, White City; a stepson, Bill White, Central Point; a sister, JoAnn Rogde, White City, and one grandchild.

Evelyn Louise Smith
The memorial service for Evelyn Louise Smith will be at 2 p.m. on May 15 in Hillcrest Memorial Chapel. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn of Providence Hospice will officiate.
Ms. Smith, 62, of Medford, died Tuesday (March 27, 1999) at her home.
She was born Evelyn Gutschmidt on May 24, 1936, in Portland. She moved to the Rogue Valley seven years ago from Spray.
Ms. Smith was a long haul truck driver.
She enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and gardening.
Survivors include a son, Paul Wycoff, Talent; four daughters, Julia Harmon, Medford, Dayna Foster, White City, Renee Pace, Portland, and Donna Johnson, Hope, Idaho; a brother, Donald Gutschmidt, Eureka, Calif.; a sister, Virginia Woodward, Nehalen; and eight grandchildren.
