Marion B. Wright
Marion Blakeslee Wright, 84, of Medford, died Thursday (April 15, 1999) at Rogue Valley Manor Health Care Center, Medford. No service is planned. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

She was born Marion Case on Oct. 25, 1914, in Winsted, Conn. She was a graduate of Skidmore College in New York and pursued studies at Vassar and Mills.
In Key West, Fla., she married Edward G. Wright, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wright served with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the WAVES, attaining the rank of specialist second class.
Mrs. Wright was an administrative supervisor for the California educational system. She moved to the Rogue Valley Manor in 1989.
Survivors include two sisters, Marjorie Hartman, Bloomfield, Conn., and Pauline Chinlund, Hanover, N.H. She was preceded in death by a brother.

Dr. Donald W. Butts
A celebration of life open house for Dr. Donald Willis Butts will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the family home in Medford. Inurnment will be in Fayette, Iowa.
Dr. Butts, 74, of Medford, died Sunday (April 18, 1999) at his home.

He was born Dec. 13, 1924, in Fayette, Iowa. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1971 from Littleton, Colo.
On Sept. 18, 1982, in Portland, he married Jean Benson, who survives.
Dr. Butts had a private dental practice in Nora Springs, Iowa, from 1950 to 1961. He joined the Veteran's Administration as a staff dentist in St. Cloud, Minn. He transferred to Colorado, then to Medford in 1971, to work as chief of dental services at the Veterans Administration Domiciliary in White City, retiring in 1985.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Dr. Butts was a member of the Rogue Valley Country Club.
He enjoyed golf, playing bridge, and traveling.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Dennis Burts, McCall, Idaho; a daughter, Diana Parsons, Canby; a stepson, Craig Shepherd, Buffalo, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Susan Romano, Quincy, Wash., and Nancy Smythe, Aurora, Ore.; a brother, D.A. Butts, Clearlake, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Blanche Butts, in 1981; and a brother, Merrill Butts, in 1996.

Donald D. Farnsworth
Inurnment for Donald Daryl Farnsworth will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Medford Southwest Church of the Nazarene. His son, the Rev. Don C. Farnsworth, will officiate.
Mr. Farnsworth, 79, of Medford, died Thursday (April 15, 1999) at his home.

He was born on Jan. 17, 1920 in Kennet, Calif., and raised in the Northern California area.
On Dec. 17, 1939, in Clyde, Calif., he married Dollie Katherine Fairhurst, who survives.
Mr. Farnsworth graduated from Washington State College in Pullman, Wash., in 1943.
Before World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps. During World War II he served in the Navy. As a seaman first class, he was a pilot of a PBM Patrol Bomber.
Mr. Farnsworth worked briefly for Boeing in Seattle, and then began a 17-year career as a commercial crop-dusting pilot. During this time he designed a special dust applicator and a high-lift wing for Stearman Crop Dusters. He flew more than 30,000 hours during his career as a pilot.
He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1968, where he worked as an aircraft and engine mechanic for a local helicopter firefighting firm. He then worked as a turret lathe operator for Vicker Inc., retiring in 1985.
Mr. Farnsworth was past president of the Little Butte Mountain Men Muzzle-loading Club. He also volunteered at the Southern Oregon Historical Society, and at local elementary schools, telling stories about mountain men. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed mall-walking at the Rogue Valley Mall. He was recognized for walking more than 5,000 miles.
Mr. Farnsworth attended the Medford Southwest Church of the Nazarene where his eldest son is the pastor.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include six sons, Don C., Medford, Duane, Medford, Daniel, Medford, Daryl, Visalia, Calif., Dallas, O'Fallon, Mo., and Dale, Eureka, Calif; six daughters, Estelle Mitchell, Eagle Point, Patricia Pratt, Grants Pass, Nancy Farnsworth, Anchorage, Alaska, Margaret and Susan Farnsworth, both Tualatin, and Carol Providenti, Carson City, Nev.; a brother, Thurlow, Lodi, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Clara Elsie Drake
The graveside service for Clara Elsie Drake will be at 1 p.m. today in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Damon McCoy of First Baptist Church, Central Point, will officiate.
Mrs. Drake, 88, formerly of Central Point, died Thursday (April 15, 1999) in Gresham.
She was born Clara Elsie DuBois on July 27, 1910, in Los Angeles. She lived in the Rogue Valley from 1945 to 1997, when she moved to Gresham.
On July 15, 1936, in El Paso, Texas, she married Everett R. Drake, who died in 1984.
Mrs. Drake and her husband owned and operated the Lazy Acres Motel in Gold Hill for 24 years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Central Point, the Rebekkas Mt. Pitt No. 167 and the Central Point Grange. She enjoyed baking and crocheting.
Survivors include a son, Mike Drake of Medford; a daughter, Rose Wierth of Gresham; 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Drake; a daughter, Betty Donovan; two sisters, a brother and a grandson.

Lloyd W. Whitney
Lloyd Winningham Whitney, 82, of Medford, died Thursday (April 15, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private service was held. Inurnment will be in Logtown Cemetery in Jacksonville.

He was born Jan. 26, 1917, in Watkins, a son of Henry C. and Pearl Winningham Whitney.
On Aug. 17, 1936, in Grants Pass, he married Jean Walker, who died on June 21, 1998. He lived in the Rogue Valley his entire life.
Mr. Whitney was a real estate broker. He owned Whitney Real Estate in Medford for 30 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Warren Lodge No. 10 in Jacksonville, and a past member of the Shriners.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and his rose garden.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha J. Sheperd, Medford; a sister, Ruth Lawrence, Jacksonville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Clint, in 1994.

Alex Michael Lindsey
The funeral for Alex Michael Lee Lindsey will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford. The graveside service will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Alex, 22 months, of Medford, died Wednesday (April 14, 1999) at Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland.

Alex was born May 30, 1997, in Medford. He lived in the Rogue Valley all of his life.
Survivors include his parents, Karl Lindsey and Tamara Zamora, both of Medford; a sister, Sierra Lindsey, Medford; his grandmothers, Roxanne Adams and Ava Zamora, both of Medford; and his grandfathers, Donald Hendrix and James Zamora, both of Central Point.
Friends may pay their respects from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Bellinger and Arnold Lanes, Medford.
Noelle L. Gulrich
The memorial Mass for Noelle L. Gulrich will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford. The Rev. Ray Elam of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate.
Ms. Gulrich, 51, of Medford, died Tuesday (April 13, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born June 12, 1947, in San Francisco. She graduated from high school in Oakland, Calif.
She moved to the Rogue Valley 34 years ago, where she attended what is now Southern Oregon University.
Ms. Gulrich was a veterinary assistant for Dr. "Doc" Hanawalt. She also worked for Astro Grass on West Main Street for many years.
She enjoyed gardening, landscaping and the design and building of ponds, and was known for her artistic ability.
Survivors include her mother, Mary A. Gulrich, Medford; a sister, Liz Hanson, Rogue River; and four brothers, John, Jim, and Pat Gulrich, all of Medford, and Barney Gulrich, Montague, Calif. She was preceded in death by a sister, Taffy Curry, in 1994; and by her father, Paul Gulrich, in 1991.

Carolee Mae Walker
The memorial service for Carolee Mae Walker will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the family home, 333 Butler Creek Road, Ashland. The Rev. Anthony Rosevear of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church will officiate.
Mrs. Walker, 66, of Ashland, died Tuesday (April 13, 1999) at her home.

She was born Carolee Bass on April 13, 1933, in San Francisco.
On May 2, 1955, in Las Vegas, she married Reed Walker, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley 10 years ago from Twin Falls, Idaho.
Mrs. Walker was a technical editor for R.C.A. She also worked for Hughes Aircraft for a short period of time before her retirement.
She was a golfer, and enjoyed gardening, especially roses.
Mrs. Walker was an active member of the Ashland Garden Club, and oversaw the club's annual plant sale held each May.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Reed A. III, Phoenix, and David, Berkeley, Calif.; a sister, Beverly Schwarrin, Foster City, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
