Gladys M. Davenport

The memorial service for Gladys M. Davenport will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Phoenix Church of Christ. Pastor Dave Humphreys of the church will officiate. Interment will be in Phoenix Cemetery.

Mrs. Davenport, 86, of Phoenix, died Monday (April 19, 1999) at her home.

She was born Gladys Ferns on Jan. 29, 1913, in Phoenix, a daughter of Ralph Lovell and Mona Maye Ward Ferns. She was a lifelong resident of Phoenix. The Ferns family settled in the Phoenix area in the late 1800s; Fern Valley is named for the family.

On Jan. 16, 1956, in Medford, she married Eugene H. "Bob" Davenport, who survives.

Mrs. Davenport worked for many years at the Red Barn Auction.

She enjoyed flowers, sunsets and bird-watching.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Roger Puhl and Jeff Davenport, both Medford; a daughter, Phyllis Murillo, Phoenix; a brother, Stan Ferns, Phoenix; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter.

Alvin Dale Terry

The graveside service for Alvin Dale Terry will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Terry, 51, of Medford, died Monday (April 19, 1999) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation Hospice, 691 Murphy Road, Suite 236, Medford, OR 97504 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Oct. 31, 1947, in Dermott, Ark.

On Feb. 17, 1973, in Carson City, Nev., he married Linda Freeman, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1987 from San Pablo, Calif.

Mr. Terry worked in the steel industry. He also worked as a custodian at Southern Oregon University in Ashland.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Terry enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, hunting and camping.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Curtis Terry, Medford, and Gary Fulgham, Berkeley; a daughter, Laura Vowiell, Phoenix; his mother, Reba Terry, Modesto, Calif.; two sisters, Joan Sellars, San Pablo, Calif., and Beverly Cartner, Deadwood, S.D.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Terry in 1980; and by a sister, Sheila French, in January of this year.

Friends may pay their respects from 4 to 5 p.m. today at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Bellinger and Arnold Lane, Medford.

Nell Ossman

The funeral for Nell Ossman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Chapel. Larry Dahl of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jacksonville Ward, will officiate. Burial will be in Aultorest Memorial Park in Ogden, Utah.

Mrs. Ossman, 87, of Medford, died Tuesday (April 20, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Center in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Diabetes Foundation, 380 S.E. Spokane Suite 110, Portland, OR 97202.

She was born Nell Weeks on March 11, 1912, in Burley, Idaho.

On Feb. 17, 1931, in Ogden, Utah, she married George Oscar Ossman, who died in 1977. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1972 from Ogden.

For many years, Mrs. Ossman worked with school lunches in Odgen schools.

In the Rogue Valley, she was a volunteer for Jacksonville Loaves and Fishes for 10 years.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jacksonville.

Mrs. Ossman enjoyed oil painting, crocheting and baseball, especially the Oakland A's.

Survivors include two sons, Lanis, Jacksonville, and Brent, Montclair, Va.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three children, Galen, Rosalie and Ralyn.

Friends may pay their respects from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Bellinger and Arnold Lane, Medford.

Ada M. Balch

Ada M. Balch, 66, of White City, died Tuesday (April 20, 1999) at her home. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Ada Spears on March 17, 1933, in Riverside, Calif.

On Oct. 19, 1956, in Wenatchee, Wash., she married Dale Lee Balch, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Balch was involved with foster care for many years.

She enjoyed the outdoors, camping and animals.

Survivors include a son, Dale Lee Jr., Grants Pass; two daughters, Jackie Ann Balch, White City, and Leane Balch of California; and two grandchildren.

Gloria Janice Ingles

Gloria Janice Ingles, 77, of Central Point, died Sunday (April 18, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned.

She was born Gloria Janice East on May 11, 1921, in Lima, Ohio.

On June 29, 1940, in Detroit, she married Roy J. Ingles, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1989 from Palmdale, Calif.

Mrs. Ingles enjoyed her family.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Vikki Smith, Eureka, Calif., and Sandra Gosline, Bandon; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Rodriguez.

Susan Lucile Williams

The graveside service for Susan Lucile Williams will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home. Pastor Terry Medina will officiate.

Mrs. Williams, 79, of Beaverton, formerly of Medford, died Sunday (April 18, 1999) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

She was born Susan Lucile Bennett on April 18, 1920, in Lincoln, Neb. She moved to Sweet Home in 1930. She graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1938.

Mrs. Williams was a manager trainer for Sears and traveled extensively in her work.

She was a member of the Reames Chapter No. 66 Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Williams enjoyed reading and traveling.

Survivors include three daughters, Delores Susan Green, Medford, Ilene Torgersen, White City, and Phyllis Lucile Williams, Beaverton; two brothers, Clinton J. Bennett, Foster, and Edward Bennett and Leo Dean Bennett, both Sweet Home; a sister, Dorothy M. Nelson, Beaverton; and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Deborah Renea Green, and a grandson, Michael Todd Torgersen.

Friends may pay their respects from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel, Sweet Home.

Ruby A. Daviscourt

Ruby Annabelle Daviscourt, 79, of Medford, died April 8, 1999, in Medford. A private service is planned. Inurnment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park in Eugene.

She was born Ruby Keefer on Sept. 15, 1919, in Yakima, Wash.

On March 18, 1940, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, she married Nicholas H. Daviscourt, who died in 1970. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Eugene in 1975.

Survivors include three sons, Dean, Medford, Michael L., Salem, and Nicholas L., Bend; a daughter, Sharon Lynn Moen, Renton, Wash., two sisters, Ruth Pearce, Spokane, Wash., and Betty McKinney, Eugene; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris funeral Directors, Medford.

Glen Edwin Moses

The memorial service for Glen Edwin Moses will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Fireside Room at the First Church of the Nazarene in Medford. The Rev. Marion Clarkson and friends John Rhodes and James Doster will officiate.

Mr. Moses, 55, of Medford, died Monday (April 19, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 15, 1943, in Blackfoot, Idaho.

On Feb. 26, 1994, in Reno, Nev., he married Dianne Slavenski, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Roseburg in 1954.

Mr. Moses was a concrete finisher in the construction industry.

He enjoyed boating, camping, fishing and gardening.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Michael Skjersaa, Bend; a daughter, Candice Page, Salem; two stepsons, Devin and Mason Watson, both Medford; his mother, Ruth Moses, Salem; a sister, Sharon Lite, Salem; and one grandchild.
