Dorothy B. Collins
Dorothy B. Collins, 89, of Jacksonville, died Thursday (April 29, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private memorial will be held Saturday.

She was born Dorothy Booth on Aug. 13, 1909, in Boise, Idaho.
In Alaska, she married Grenold Collins, who died in 1992. She moved to the Rogue Valley as a full-time resident in 1989. She had been a half-year resident before her retirement.
Mrs. Collins was a teacher. She received a teaching degree from Monmouth College, and taught in McGrath, Alaska.
She also owned and managed a Treasure Shop and, later, Global Travel Agency in Anchorage.
Mrs. Collins was a member of the Colony Club, the Country Club, the Jacksonville Garden Club, the Jacksonville Woodlands Association and other civic groups.
She traveled extensively through Europe, Africa, India, China, Japan and Australia. She also enjoyed reading and knitting.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Robin Clark; and a step-grandson, Grenold Coffee.

William H. Hunt
The funeral for William H. Hunt will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Perl Funeral Home-Siskiyou, Medford.
Mr. Hunt, 80, of Medford, died Tuesday (May 4, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
Friends may pay their respects from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at Perl Funeral Home-Siskiyou, Medford.
Patrick J. Hickey
Patrick Joseph Hickey, 66, of Ashland, died Saturday (May 1, 1999) at his home. No service is planned.

He was born March 5, 1933, in County Cork, Ireland. He moved to the Rogue Valley 20 years ago from Portland.
Mr. Hickey was a data processing program manager for Bankers Trust in New York City for 15 years. Most recently he taught computer science at the University of Portland for two years.
He was an environmental activist and a member of the Wilderness Society.
Mr. Hickey enjoyed hiking and photography.
Survivors include a brother, Raymond Hickey, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and three sisters, Joanne Hnatow, Westerly, R.I., Breda Stout, Elgin, Ill., and Elizabeth Cleary, La Jolla, Calif.

`Les' Richard Perry
The memorial service for Leslie "Les" Richard Perry will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home in Grants Pass.
Mr. Perry, 66, of Grants Pass, died Friday (April 30, 1999) at his home.
He was born Aug. 22, 1932, in Murphy.
Mr. Perry was a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1954.
Mr. Perry was a member of the Rogue River Valley Grange, past state officer and past noble grand of the Golden Rule Lodge No. 78 I.O.O.F., and a past commander and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2302.
He enjoyed helping others and going for car rides.
Survivors include his mother, Erma Campbell, Grants Pass; and many cousins.

John LeRoy Loper
The memorial service for John LeRoy Loper will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Trail Community Church. Pastor Ron Welch will officiate.
Mr. Loper, 80, of Trail, died Thursday (April 29, 1999) at his home.

He was born April 7, 1919, in Marcus, S.D.
On Dec. 3, 1945, in Roseburg, he married Mary Marie Muse, who survives. He lived in the Rogue Valley for more than 40 years.
Mr. Loper was a farmer and a mill worker.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in a number of locations in Europe.
Mr. Loper was an honorary member of the Eagle Point FFA.
He enjoyed nature, livestock auctions, bird-watching and showing cattle.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Dennis and Daniel, both of Trail; a daughter, Linda Craig, Trail; a brother, Lewis, Talent; six granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.

James Walter Olson
Friends and family will gather to remember James Walter Olson from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Olson residence in Phoenix. A private service was held in Siskiyou Memorial Park in Medford.
Mr. Olson, 69, of Phoenix, died Thursday (April 29, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford.

He was born Oct. 3, 1929, in San Francisco, Calif.
On Sept. 29, 1951, in Pasadena, Calif., he married Betty Pauline Frenzel, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1974 from Washington.
Mr. Olson owned and operated Hughes Building Materials in Medford, and worked in the lumber industry all his life. He retired in 1984.
He traveled extensively in Mexico and enjoyed fishing, flying and playing the stock market.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Victor P., Central Point; two daughters, Susan O. Amidon, Medford, and Sandra K. Bacon, Salem; a sister, Beverly Colvin, Lewiston, Idaho; and five grandchildren.

Mae Florence Dunphy
Mae Florence Dunphy, 76, of Grants Pass, died Saturday (May 1, 1999) at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center in Grants Pass. No service is planned.
She was born Mae Florence Vandermeulen on March 28, 1923, in Lockport, N.Y.
On Sept. 21, 1941, in Yuma, Ariz., she married Charles J. Dunphy, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley from San Diego in 1980.
Mrs. Dunphy was a rock hound. She collected gems and minerals.
She enjoyed cats, nature and flowers.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Jill R. Hanns, Cottage Grove, and Christina Kaylor, Santee, Calif.; two sisters, Helen Brandson of Mexico and Ruth Brewster, Valley Center, Calif.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Erma Belle Peterson
The memorial service for Erma Belle Peterson will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home in Grants Pass. The Rev. Gregory Moys of St. Anne Catholic Church will officiate.
Mrs. Peterson, 77, of Medford, died Friday (April 30, 1999) at Royale Oak Retirement Residence.

She was born Erma Belle Ketcham on Dec. 20, 1921, in Anchorage, Alaska. She came to Grants Pass at the age of 13 from Hillsboro.
In 1936, in Washington, she married Bill Lanning, a professional baseball player, who died in 1979.
In April 1974, in Honolulu, she married Raymond M. Peterson, who died in 1996. The couple moved to Medford from Nevada in 1995.
Mrs. Peterson was a restaurant manager in Los Angeles. She managed the Flight Deck at the Los Angeles International Airport and Richlor's in Beverly Hills.
She was a member of the Lions Club in Hawaii and belonged to the Easter Seals Society and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
She enjoyed travel and ceramics.
Survivors include two daughters, Jo Reese, Grants Pass, and Carol Char, Honolulu; a brother, Charles Wesley Ketcham II, Camarillo, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
