Florence M. MacGregor

The memorial service for Florence Mae MacGregor will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the First Presbyterian Church of Medford. The Rev. Joyce DeGraaff of the First Presbyterian Church of Medford will officiate.

Mrs. MacGregor, 85, of Phoenix, died Sunday (May 9, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lions Eye Bank of Oregon, 228 N. Holly St., Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Florence M. Turner on Dec. 3, 1913, in Winnipeg, Canada.

On Dec. 9, 1989, in San Diego, she married Norman "Scotty" MacGregor, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley 10 years ago from San Diego.

Mrs. MacGregor was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Medford, and the Moose Lodge.

Mrs. MacGregor enjoyed knitting.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Phylis Heath, El Cajon, Calif.; a brother, Frank Turner, Big Bear, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Ernest O. Kuykendall

The funeral for Ernest Orbry Kuykendall will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland. Interment will follow in Stearns Cemetery, Talent.

Mr. Kuykendall, 63, of Talent, died Tuesday (May 11, 1999) at his home.

He was born April 2, 1936, at Pampa, Texas. He lived in Oregon for 32 years.

Mr. Kuykendall was a well driller.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Kathryn, Talent; two sons, John, Talent, and Jack, Eagle Point; a daughter, Debbie Kuykendall, Santa Rosa, Calif.; four sisters, Grace Ford, Talent, Flo LaFontaine, Manteca, Calif., Ermoline Sands, Canyon Lake, Calif., and Maedell Taylor, Wolfforth, Texas; a brother, Jay H., San Pablo, Calif.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

James Buckmaster Jr.

James Clyde Buckmaster Jr., 77, of Medford, died Saturday (May 8, 1999) in Portland, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Shannon Buckmaster. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army , P.O. Box 1207, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Nov. 25, 1921, in Scotch Plains, N.J. He moved to the Rogue Valley as a child, and spent most of his life here.

Mr. Buckmaster worked for the U.S. Weather Bureau and was a letter carrier with the U.S. Post Office. He retired in 1976, with 30 years of federal service.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1947, and was on active duty at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. He served in seven campaigns in the Pacific and two in the European Atlantic Middle Eastern Theatre.

Mr. Buckmaster enjoyed square dancing with the Twirlers, and spent his later years doing volunteer work for the elderly and disabled.

Survivors include his son, Robert, Portland; and three nieces.

Arrangements: Youngs Funeral Home, Tigard.

Nan Dean Tharp

The funeral for Nan Dean Tharp will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford. The Rev. Dick Hamilton of Gold Hill Christian Church will officiate. Private interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.

Mrs. Tharp, 91, of Gold Hill, died Tuesday (May 11, 1999) in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gold Hill Christian Church, 396 Sixth Ave., Gold Hill, OR 97525.

She was born Nan Dean Muse on Feb. 19, 1908, in Koshkonong, Mo.

On April 14, 1928, in Olatha, Kan., she married Charles A. "Jack" Tharp, who preceded her in death. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1933 from Kansas City, Mo.

Mrs. Tharp retired after many years of service with United Telephone in Central Point and White City. She was a lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers of America.

She enjoyed flowers, animals, and feeding and watching birds. She supported numerous charities both locally and nationally.

Survivors include two brothers, Tracy Muse, Central Point, and Brad Muse, Lakeport, Calif.; a sister, Mary Loper, Trail; a grandson; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Vestal; a daughter, Vivian Minor; a granddaughter, Lani Schlosser; three brothers, Glenn, Arthur, and Alva Muse; and a sister, Enid Renfro.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Delores Irene Cox

The graveside service for Delores Irene Cox will be at 11 a.m. Friday in East Lawn Cemetery, 4300 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento, Calif.

Mrs. Cox, 69, of Sams Valley, died Tuesday (May 11, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Delores Irene Snow on March 21, 1930, in Twin Falls, Idaho.

On Feb. 1, 1985, in Reno, Nev., she married Beverley F. Cox, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1993 from Folsom, Calif.

Mrs. Cox was a waitress.

She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, fishing and traveling.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Michael David, West Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Patricia Carlson, West Sacramento; a sister, Betty Snow, Los Angeles; two brothers, Don Snow, Winters, Calif., and Jack Snow, Placerville, Calif.; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Johnson.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Services, Medford.

Calvin L. Richardson

The memorial service for Calvin L. Richardson will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Provolt Community Church, Grants Pass. Pastor Michael A. Hale and Earl Best will officiate.

Mr. Richardson, 92, of Grants Pass, died Monday (May 10, 1999) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Provolt Community Church, 13480 Williams Highway, Grants Pass, OR 97527.

He was born Aug. 20, 1906, in Castle Rock, Wash.

In 1930, in Washington, he married Helen C. Walkfield, who died in 1997. He moved to Provolt in 1930.

Mr. Richardson was a truck driver in the logging industry for many years.

He was a member of the Provolt Community Church.

Mr. Richardson enjoyed hunting and fishing. He learned to water ski when he was in his 60s, and waterskied every summer until he was 82.

Survivors include two sons, Ron and Dwain, both Grants Pass; a brother, Vernon, Grants Pass; a sister, Carol, Phoenix; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Lundberg's L.B. Hall Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Richard `Dic' Zediker

The memorial service for Richard Roy "Dic" Zediker will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the First United Methodist Church, Ashland. Mr. Willis Zumwalt will officiate.

Mr. Zediker, 56, of Central Point, died Monday (May 10, 1999) at his home following a long battle with a brain tumor.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkison's Center of Oregon Research Fund, Oregon Health Sciences University, Department of Neurology L226, 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97201-9745.

He was born Dec. 6, 1942, in Sanger, Calif. He graduated from Phoenix High School in 1961, and from Southern Oregon College in 1967. He was a Southern Oregon resident for 54 years.

On Dec. 12, 1970, he married Sandra Weeks, who survives.

Mr. Zediker was an agriculture pilot for 25 years, and spent the last 15 years in Washington during the summers. He was a smoke jumper for the U.S. Forest Service, and also worked as a juvenile counselor for Jackson County from 1977 to 1982.

Mr. Zediker built and flew one of Southern Oregon's first home-built aircraft in the 1960s, while attending college. He restored and flew an old Stearman biplane for many years and barnstormed throughout the United States.

He was a charter member and past president of Experimental Aircraft Association No. 319. He was a pilot for Mercy Flights, and in 1970 he participated in the longest recorded flight at that time.

He was a member of the Rogue Eagles radio control club.

Mr. Zediker enjoyed designing, building and flying the model airplanes, amateur radio, fishing and camping, and playing the banjo and dobro in a bluegrass band for 25 years.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his mother, Ruth Powell, Ashland; two sisters, Carol Zumwalt, Coarsegold, Calif., and Janet Vickers, Royal Oaks, Mich. He was preceded in death by his father, Chet Zediker.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

`Gwen' Ammons

The graveside service for Glenlynn "Gwen" Dorothy Ammons will be at 2 p.m. today in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ammons, 79, of Medford, died Wednesday (May 12, 1999) in Three Fountains Nursing Center.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford.
