Joseph (Joska) Garfas
Joska was born March 13, 1935 in Edeleny,Hungary and died in La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico Feb.12, 2006. He loved to ride motorcyles and died doing so. He is survived by his wife Pat, 2 daughters Dylana and Ara, 4 Grandchildren Dillon, Brennan, Cameron, Ashton, and a sister who lives in Hungary Agnes. A potluck celebration of his life will be held at his shop on Tyler Creek Rd. March 12, at 4 p.m.

John A. Arnold
John A. Arnold died January 13, 2006 in Reno, Nevada. He was born September 17, 1920 in Ashland, Oregon, where he grew up in a farming, ranching lifestyle. In 1940 he married Marna Byrd while working for Southern Pacific Railroad. In 1942, he went to work as a logger and continued logging in Southern Oregon and Northern California until his retirement in 1982 while living in Red Bluff, California.
John and Marna then became full time RV'ers and traveled the west for the next 15 years, before settling down in Reno, Nevada. John was a member of the Oregon National Guard 249th "B" Battery, Ashland OR, Loyal Order of the Moose #2002, Red Bluff CA, and Faternal Order of Eagles, Crescent City CA. Survivors include his bride of 65 years, Marna, one son, Jim and his wife Carol, one grandson, Jake, all in Reno, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Nevada Scottish Rite (for the kids,) 40 W. 1st Street, Reno, Nevada 89501. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 18th, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Sierra Memorial Gardens, Reno, with a celebration of his life to follow. Arrangements entrusted to Mountain View Mortuary.
Vernon E. "Vern" Rush
Vernon E. Rush passed from this life at his home on Thursday, December 8, 2005, after a valiant battle with cancer. A celebration of his life memorial gathering for friends and family will be held Saturday, March 11, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Bear Lake Estates, 300 Luman Rd, Phoenix, OR. For out of town arrivals, exit 24 at Phoenix onto Fern Valley Rd, pass McDonalds to traffic light, turn left on Luman Rd, which dead-ends in the mobile park.
The ladies of the Bear Lake Social organization will serve a buffet luncheon in the clubhouse. Vern was born in Brownsville, OR to Virgil E. Rush and Mabel Atkin Rush. Vern married Thomasina Pritchard Rush, December 3, 1941, in Astoria OR, four days before Pearl Harbor was attacked while he was stationed at Fort Stevens in the Coast Artillery. He served a total of 6 years, 4 months.
In addition to his wife, Vern is survived by two sons, Chuck and wife, Margaret, Portland, OR and Mike, Ontario, OR; five grandsons and their wives, one granddaughter and her husband; plus thirteen great grandchildren.
Also surviving, his sister, Loretta and husband, Vern Lehman, Eagle Point; two sisters-in-law, LeLaine Graham Rush of White City and Carole Carter Rush, Brookings; and numerous nieces and nephews. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Opal Rush Carter and his brothers, Gale and Glen Rush.

James Alvin Kreul
James Alvin Kreul, born Nov. 24, 1949, in Racine, WI, died on Feb. 21, 2006, in Medford, OR.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Al and Lilly Kreul, and sister, Ellen. Surviving kin include: brothers Robert (Burton, SC), Thomas (Duluth, MN), Edward (Wilmington, NC) and sister Mary Kreul-Starr (Raleigh, NC).
Joseph Albert Freese
The graveside memorial service for Joseph Albert Freese will be held Monday, March 20, 2006 at 3:00 P.M., at Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland. Pastor Perry Parks of the Ashland Seventh-Day Adventist Church will officiate.
Joseph Albert Freese, 74, of Ashland, died Saturday, March 11, 2006 at his residence.
Mr. Freese was born March 17, 1931 in Clearwater County, Idaho to Joseph Leslie and Bertha Rose (Ross) Freese. He lived in Ashland most of his life since 1935. As a young man he worked on a farm and in the orchards of the valley. Later, he worked as a janitor in restaurants and theaters. He retired in 1993. He liked music and old time western movies.
Mr. Freese is survived by his sister, Lillie Mae Myers of Phoenix, OR.

Marguerite Marie Roberto

The memorial service for Marguerite Marie Roberto will be held Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 2:00 P.M., at Ashland Christian Fellowship.
Loving Mother and Grandmother, Marguerite M. Roberto died in her home, surrounded by her four children, after a short battle with metastatic melanoma.
She first moved to Ashland, with her family in 1969, when she fell in love with this town at first sight. She raised her children here and has been an active member of the community, lending a helping hand with the schools, the Ashland Community Hospital Women's Auxiliary and as a member of Ashland Christian Fellowship.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Steve Colombo (Dana Rensi) of Gold Hill; Karen Adams (Ernie) and daughter Madelina of Medford; Linda Smith (Michael), son Joshua and daughter Jordan of Ashland; and Carla Bennett (Gregg) and daughter Courtney of Klamath Falls.
In lieu of flowers, please send any contributions to Ashland Community Hospital Hospice, the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, the Lupus Foundation of America or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
