Gwendolyn Peebles
Gwendolyn Peebles, 85, of Grants Pass, died Monday (May 24, 1999) at Oak Lane Retirement Center in Grants Pass. A graveside service was held at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.
She was born Gwendolyn Block on Aug. 29, 1913, in Kenesaw, Neb.
In September 1932, in Nebraska, she married Russell Peebles, who died in 1965. They moved to Central Point in 1943 and Grants Pass in 1950.
Mrs. Peebles was a pharmacy clerk for Josephine Memorial Hospital in Grants Pass until her retirement.
She was a founding member of the Rogue Rovers Travel Club.
Mrs. Peebles was a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Langston, Central Point; two sons, Larry, Rogue River, and Jim, Grants Pass; a brother, Richard Block, Doniphan, Neb.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Troy Lee Price
Troy Lee Price, 56, of Salem, formerly of Medford, died May 16, 1999, in Salem. The memorial service was held May 18 in the First Baptist Church in Salem. The Rev. Jim Wiens officiated.
He was born July 3, 1942, in Artesia, N.M. He lived in the Rogue Valley from 1943 until 1947, and from 1957 to 1963. He graduated from Phoenix High School.
On Oct. 14, 1960, in Medford, he married Joyce Moore, who survives.
Mr. Price was safety and training director for Century Communications Corp. in Salem.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Salem.
Mr. Price enjoyed camping, fly fishing and hunting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Alan Price, Douglas, Wyo.; two daughters, Angela Hirsch, Fremont, Calif., and Corena Jacobs, Middleburg, Fla.; a brother, Dale R. Price, Phoenix; two sisters, Nora E. Cunningham, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Frances
June Thomas, Federal Way, Wash.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Margaret Price; and a brother, Lonne Bruce Price.

Melvin Glenn Wier
Melvin Glenn Wier, 77, of Crescent City, Calif., formerly of Medford, died May 21, 1999, in Crescent City.

He was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Pocatello, Idaho. He moved to Del Norte County, Calif., from Medford in 1985.
Mr. Wier was a truck driver for Southern Forest Products. He retired after 25 years of service.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a tank driver under Gen. George Patton in the European Theater.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn M., Crescent City; two sons, Rickie "Sam" L., and Whitey, both Tri-Cities, Wash.; two daughters, Pam Arnold, Bandon, and Debbie Hagan, Tri-Cities; a stepson, Larry Wigele, Hiouchi, Calif.; and two sisters, Bev Walker, Medford,
and Lucille Pugh, Cypress, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Helen D. Mahin
The funeral for Helen Dart Mahin will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Trinity Episcopal Church, Ashland. The Rev. Richard Hicks of Trinity Episcopal Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Scenic Hills Memorial Park in Ashland.
Mrs. Mahin, 90, of Ashland, died Tuesday (May 25, 1999) at Hearthstone Manor in Medford.

She was born Helen Dart on Oct. 16, 1908, in Bloomfield, Neb. She graduated from high school in Hinsdale, Ill., and attended Grinnell College in Iowa.
On Oct. 18, 1928, in Bloomfield, Ill., she married Foster Rinefort, who died in 1965. She lived in Oklahoma and New York before settling in Glen Ellyn, Ill.
On May 14, 1969, in Montclair, Calif., she married William Mahin, who died in 1983. She moved to Ashland in 1969.
Mrs. Mahin was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Ashland and St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Glen Ellyn.
She enjoyed country life, traveling, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
Survivors include two sons, Dart Rinefort, San Rafael, Calif., and Dr. Foster C. Rinefort Jr., Charleston, Ill; two stepsons, Richard E. Mahin, Arlington Heights, Ill., and Philip W. Mahin, Morgantown, W.Va.; a stepdaughter, Diane Wheeler, Edmonds, Wash.; 13
grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Francis Rinefort.

Inez Janzen
The memorial graveside service for Inez Gebhard Quackenbush Janzen will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford. Pastor Rick Booye of Trail Christian Fellowship will officiate. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Janzen, 89, of Cottage Grove, formerly of Central Point, died Wednesday (May 12, 1999) at Coast Fork Nursing Center.
She was born Inez Gebhard on Aug. 26, 1909, in Long Island, Kan. She graduated from Medford High School, where she was valedictorian of her class.
In 1931, she married Merline Quackenbush, who died in 1978.
On Jan. 27, 1983, in Eagle Point, she married Isaac "Ike" Janzen, who died in 1996.
Mrs. Janzen enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and music.
Survivors include a son, Dalton G. Quackenbush, Cottage Grove; a daughter, Myrna Lee Miller, Brookings; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

James William Zuber
James William Zuber, 88, of Medford, died Sunday (May 23, 1999) at Rogue Valley Manor Health Care Center. A private service will be held.

He was born May 22, 1911, in Colombus, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio State University, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.
On Aug. 3, 1935, he married Suzanne Baumann, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley seven years ago from Carmel, Calif.
Mr. Zuber was a publisher of Home Magazine until his retirement.
He enjoyed golf and traveling.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Ann Doelman, Monterey, Calif., and Sally Anderson, Danville, Calif.; a son, Jim Zuber, Los Altos, Calif.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Nohely Lupita Alegria
The funeral Mass for Nohely Lupita Alegria will be at 4 p.m. today in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. The Rev. Liam Cary of Sacred Heart Church will officiate. Interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park in Medford.
Nohely, infant daughter of Maria and Gregorio Alegria, died Tuesday (May 25, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
Survivors include her parents, Maria and Gregorio Alegria, Medford; a sister, Nancy, and a brother, Gregorio, both Medford.; and a grandmother, Carmen Rodriguez, Talent.

Wilber E. Tolen
Wilber E. Tolen, 74, of Eagle Point, died Wednesday (May 26, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private service will be held.

He was born July 20, 1924, in Logansport, Ind.
On June 20, 1958, in Los Angeles, he married Nell Jane Anderson, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley 12 years ago from Norwalk, Calif.
During World War II, Mr. Tolen served in the U.S. Army in Guam.
Mr. Tolen was a former member of the Early Day Gas Engine and Tractor Association, Branch 9.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Roger, Eagle Point; three daughters, Docha Koon, Medford, Kathleen Tollinger, Eagle Point, and Jackie Tarr, LaQuinta, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles.
