R. Kemper Howell
R. Kemper Howell, 77, of White City, died Monday (May 31, 1999) in Medford. No service is planned.

He was born Dec. 3, 1921, in Escondido, Calif. He moved to the Rogue Valley eight years ago from Honolulu.
Mr. Howell was a corporation secretary of treasury for F.T. Opperman Inc. in Honolulu for 20 years.
He was a rockhound, and enjoyed photography and attending church at Trail Christian Fellowship.
Survivors include a son, William, White City; a daughter, Priscilla Bircher, Brookings; three brothers, Don, Bob and Jack, all of Honolulu; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Joel Burge Reed
Joel Burge Reed, 21, of Medford, died Friday (May 28, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
No service is planned.
He was born Dec. 28, 1977, in Phoenix, Ariz. He moved to the Rogue Valley four years ago from Phoenix.
On Nov. 27, 1998, in Medford, he married Angela Hill, who survives.
Mr. Reed was an auto mechanic.
He enjoyed installing stereo systems.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his parents, Gary and Gay Hill, Medford; four brothers, Rickey and Wes Dodds, both Phoenix, Ariz., and Gary and Jesse Hill, both Medford; and three sisters, Charlee, Peaches and Brionna Hill, all of Medford.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 5 p.m. today at 550 Business Park Drive, Medford.

Charlene B. Mayer
The memorial service for Charlene Barbara Mayer will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. Flo Bohnert will officiate.
Mrs. Mayer, 77, of Medford, died Thursday (June 3, 1999) at her home.

She was born Charlene Barbara Pryer on Sept. 24, 1921, in Watsonville, Calif.
On June 25, 1958, in Carson City, Nev., she married "Jack" Stuart Mayer, who died in 1993. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1969 from Costa Mesa, Calif.
Mrs. Mayer served in the U.S. Women's Marine Corps during World War II, entertaining troops as a singer with the Dick Jergens Band. She was one of the country's first female disc jockeys.
She was a baseball player with the All American Girls Professional Baseball League, in Muskegon, Mich., and South Bend, Ind.
Mrs. Mayer was a truant officer and playground assistant for Medford School District 549C for more than 25 years, retiring in 1994.
She was a Rogue Valley Medical Center Auxiliary volunteer, and a member of Christ Unity Church in Medford.
Mrs. Mayer enjoyed music and sports.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Ellen Mayer-Beam, Portland; a son, Ronn Scott Mayer, Gig Harbor, Wash; a brother, Sterling Warr-Pryer, Nevada City, Calif.; a sister, Gladden Woolfolk, San Diego; and three granddaughters.

Jack Norman Beach
The memorial service for Jack Norman Beach will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at his home, 18705 S. Forestgrove Loop, Oregon City.
Mr. Beach, 73, of Oregon City, formerly of Medford, died Monday (May 31, 1999) in Clackamas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Federal Building, 1220 S.E. Third Ave., Portland, OR 97204.
He was born Sept. 3, 1925, in Lebanon. He graduated from high school in Lebanon, and lived in Medford and Lakeview before moving to the Portland area in 1979.
On July 19, 1980, he married Alice Hawkins, who survives.
Mr. Beach worked in sales and management in the grocery and dairy business. He owned dairy ranches in Medford and Lakeview, retiring in 1991.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Roxanne Beach, Sweet Home, Susan Dunn, Albany, and Tamara Caillovette, Klamath Falls; three sons, Jeff Beach, Sweet Home, John Borgman and Mark Borgman, both Oregon City; two sisters, Sharon Saylor and Jean Gourley, both Lebanon; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Hazel Foxworthy Clark
The graveside service for Hazel Marie Foxworthy Clark will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Clark, 92, of Oregon City, formerly of Phoenix, died Wednesday (June 2, 1999) in Oregon City.
She was born Hazel Newnum on Feb. 6, 1907, in Kingman, Ind.
On Dec. 21, 1926, she married Daniel Foxworthy, who died in 1968.
On Sept. 10, 1969, she married Hugh Clark, who died in 1978. She lived in Phoenix from 1946 to 1969. She lived in Rogue River for 10 years, and moved to the Portland area six years ago.
Mrs. Clark was a homemaker. She was active in the Phoenix Lions Club and the Fireman's Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances Baker, Canby; a son, Merwin L. Foxworthy, Milwaukie; two stepdaughters, Ruth Burke, in Arizona and Betty Hufman, Fairbanks, Alaska; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Foxworthy.

Marie Louise Lockwood-Montgomery
The memorial service for Marie Louise Lockwood-Montgomery will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Talent City Hall, 204 E. Main St. A potluck for family and friends will follow.
Mrs. Lockwood-Montgomery, 75, of Myrtle Creek, formerly of Talent, died Dec. 31, 1998, at a Myrtle Creek care facility after a lengthy illness.

Marion M. Peterson
The funeral for Marion M. Peterson will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Central Valley Chapel, 800 S. Front St., Central Point. Graveside services will follow in Rock Point Cemetery in Gold Hill.
Mrs. Peterson, 76, of Gold Hill, died Saturday (May 29, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
She was born Marion Murphy on Dec. 8, 1922 in Minot, N.D. On Feb. 15, 1957, in The Dalles, she married Darrell Peterson, who survives.
Mrs. Peterson had lived in the Rogue Valley since 1976, when she moved from Trinity Center, Calif. She was a homemaker and enjoyed flowers and gardening.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, John Durham and Rodney Durham, both of Central Point; three daughters, Bonnie Dennington of Central Point, Patricia Wilson of Grape View, Wash., and Vicki Hamilton of The Dalles; a brother, Kenneth Murphy of Moses Lake, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Burt Murphy, and a sister, Vivian Morris.

Christie Marsh-Sanders
The memorial service for Christie Ames Marsh-Sanders will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Northridge Center, 3737 S. Pacific Highway, Medford. Pastor Henry Peck of the Coleman Creek Bible Fellowship will officiate.
Mrs. Marsh-Sanders, 88, of Medford, died Wednesday (May 26, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.
She was born Christie Ames on Dec. 20, 1910, in Osterville, Mass. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Los Angeles 16 years ago.
On Feb. 27, 1931, in Honolulu, Hawaii, she married Wolcot Marsh, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 6, 1997, in Medford, she married Venwal Sanders, who survives.
Mrs. Marsh-Sanders was a secretary and bookkeeper for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Allen Marsh of Denver, Colo.; three daughters, Sandra Mercer of Talent, Marilyn Yocum of Atascadero, Calif., and Meryl Gunderson of Ashland; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
