Lewis John Gray

The graveside service for Lewis John Gray will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jacksonville Cemetery.

Mr. Gray, 43, of Prospect, died Tuesday (June 8, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

He was born June 13, 1955, in Arcata, Calif.

On Aug. 1, 1981, in Anaheim, Calif., he married Vicki Clark, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 from Lake Elsinore, Calif.

Mr. Gray was a truck driver for Owl Rock Trucking for eight years.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union.

Mr. Gray enjoyed fishing, reading and being outdoors.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, David Michael Gray, Prospect, and Charles Gordon, Abilene, Texas; two daughters, Heather Dawn Gray, Fullerton, Calif., and Dawn Gordon, Tyler, Texas; his mother, Liz Tim, Mohave Desert, Ariz.; his stepmother, Rose Forgey, Prospect; four brothers, Robert and Steve Gray, both Mohave Desert, Ariz., Kirk Forgey, Shady Cove, and Jeffrey Forgey, Prospect; and a sister, Patricia Clark, Lytle Creek, Calif. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Gray, and his brother, Larry Gray, both in 1985.

Friends may pay their respects from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, 550 Business Park Drive, Medford.

Harold F. Jackson

The graveside service for Harold F. Jackson will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Crown Hill Cemetery in Denver.

Mr. Jackson, 77, of Medford, died Tuesday (June 8, 1999) in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to Medford Gospel Mission, 409 Front St., Medford, OR 97501 or Medford Salvation Army, 922 N. Central, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Aug. 25, 1921, in Center Ridge, Ark.

On Oct. 5, 1958, in Castle Rock, Colo., he married Arlene F. Anderson, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley 13 years ago from Denver.

Mr. Jackson was a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry. He worked on numerous projects in Alaska.

He was a member of the Operating Engineers 302 for more than 50 years. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Alaska.

Mr. Jackson enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Vincent, Denver; and a brother, William, Perry, Ark. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lee, and two sisters, Lula Anderson and Elsie Cathay.

Sylvia Marie Hale

Sylvia Marie Hale, 95, of Medford, died Monday (June 7, 1999) in Medford. Private interment will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford.

She was born Sylvia Marie Hukill on Nov. 20, 1903, in Medford, a daughter of Charles Eli and Almeda Emerine (Woody) Hukill.

On Aug. 27, 1923, in Yreka, Calif., she married Glenn David Hale, who died in 1980. She lived in the Rogue Valley all of her life.

Mrs. Hale was a homemaker.

She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Reames Chapter 66.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Hale, Gilchrist, Frank Hale, Klamath Falls, and Lloyd Hale, Nehalem; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers and a grandson.

Russell Bradley Kelsea

Russell Bradley Kelsea, 81, of Central Point, died Sunday (June 6, 1999) at his home. No service is planned.

He was born Dec. 27, 1917, in Long Beach, Calif.

On Feb. 25, 1939, in Santa Ana, Calif., he married J. Marcella Daniels, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Southern California in 1976.

Mr. Kelsea worked in industrial relations at Lockheed Corp. in California for 30 years. He retired in 1973.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, David, Mission Hills, Calif.; two daughters, Carla Porter, Encinitas, Calif., and Marilene Larvear; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Bruce I. Doty

The graveside service for Bruce I. Doty will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens. Roy Lester of Shady Cove will officiate. Interment will be in Memory Gardens.

Mr. Doty, 75, of Central Point, died Monday (June 7, 1999) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born June 16, 1923, in Medford, a son of Marcus and Bertha Doty.

On Aug. 20, 1942, in Las Vegas, he married Juanita E. Graves, who died in 1995.

After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he moved to Alaska. He returned to the Rogue Valley from Kenai, Alaska in 1965.

Mr. Doty worked at Boise Cascade until his retirement in 1986.

He enjoyed rock cutting and hunting.

Survivors include a son, Frank R., Central Point; a daughter, Deanna Alldritt, San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Jack Chambers, Palm Springs, Calif.; a sister, Nancy Chambers, Salem; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee and Ralph Doty; and three sisters, Emma Sherril, Christina, and Frances.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Service, Medford.

Jessie Bridgham

The memorial service for Jessie Bridgham will be at 11 a.m. on June 16 in Rogue Valley Christian Church. Pastor James Larson of Rogue Valley Christian Church will officiate.

Mrs. Bridgham, 77, of Medford, died Saturday (June 5, 1999) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Christian Church, 1440 S. Oakdale Ave., Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Jessie Wright on Sept. 5, 1921, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

On Dec. 18, 1948, in Seattle, she married Floyd S. Bridgham, who preceded her in death. She moved to Medford in 1988 from Myrtle Point.

She enjoyed the outdoors and sports, especially golf.

Survivors include a son, Gordon, North Bend; three daughters, Lucy Cook and Cindy Jensen, both Medford, and Jessie M. Bridgham, Coquille; a sister, Myrtle Coles, Vancouver, British Columbia; five brothers, David, George, Murray, Reggie and Erik Bridgham, all Seattle; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Virginia Mae Beckel

The graveside service for Virginia Mae Beckel will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford. The Rev. William McHugh of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church will officiate.

Mrs. Beckel, 73, of Albany, formerly of Medford, died Monday (June 7, 1999) in Albany.

She was born Virginia Mae Bowman on Sept. 27, 1925, in Los Angeles. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1987 from Albany and returned to Albany in 1997.

Mrs. Beckel was a homemaker. She had worked in the clerical field.

Survivors include two daughters, Winifred Moses, Eagle Point, and Linda Mae Smith, Crabtree; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Beckel.

Friends may pay their respects from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 13, in Hillcrest Mortuary Chapel.

Mava E. Schoenberg

Mava Ellen Harder Schoenberg, 85, of Central Point, died Sunday (June 6, 1999) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born Mava Ellen Tupper on June 25, 1913, in Creighton, Neb.

On Nov. 30, 1971, she married Joseph Schoenberg, who preceded her in death. She lived in Coos Bay from 1947 to 1967. She then moved to Sacramento, Calif., where she lived until she returned to the Rogue Valley 10 years ago.

Mrs. Schoenberg was a member of the Sacramento Senior Center, and was a volunteer for the election board.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Sara Mickelson, Medford, Florence Billett, Phoenix, Ariz., Susan Gallagher, Marysville, Calif., and Sandra Toomey, Silvana, Wash.; a sister, Katherine Manor, Banning, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
